After the first class with Edgar, Annabel was so excited and eager to continue. Edgar spent time with her explaining 'how' to draw... sounds basic, but as it turns out, isn't. Her dog portrait was pretty good for first try. After the second class with Sarah, Annabel emerged saying, "Nana, I love art class, can I go every day?" Well, she is working on a portrait of her and her Mom now and she can't wait for next week's class. Sarah King has a truly very nurturing, nourishing energy and it is palpable in the studio and the other students. After class Wednesday, Annabel drew a picture of her at softball from her phone. Annabel and Nana are so very grateful for the gift of King Art Studio.

Four of us came in and made mugs today. You can design them any way you like and it was a lot of fun. We go back in a few weeks to glaze and fire them! It's $40 a person per visit (2 total visits to finish the pieces) and they supply everything. Cathe responded quickly when making an appointment and was super nice. Chris helped us as well and he's great! We didn't use the wheels for the class but she does have that. She also has art classes I'd like to try. Definitely recommend.

i took a four-week beginner's wheel-throwing class, attended a private birthday party for…read morewheel-throwing, and did a hand building class at common ground pottery and every experience has been all different, but all consistent in terms of how much fun it was and how great the instructors were! colton was the instructor for the four-week class + hand building class and was always patient and helpful, while g was the instructor for my friend's private party and was such a vibe and super nice and also patient (esp. with a room full of beginners at a party). the studio is so cute and well-decorated and welcoming. there are so many different options for classes depending on your interests and themed hand building classes (i took the sanrio/hello kitty mug workshop)! great for beginners and i appreciate all of the options that there are to get started or find something that you're interested in.

I had taken an 8 week pottery class at another location a decade ago. I got that creative urge to…read moretak another and chose the intermediate class at Common Ground Pottery. Little did I know I was WAY out of practice and not really up to intermediate level. That didn't stop me though. I pushed through the stuggle and came away with 3 respectable pieces. That is due in large part to instructor Colin. I wasn't always able to follow what he was doing but he was patient with me and showed me close up what to do. I still wasn't able to pull the exact shapes I was envisioning in my head but I am happy overall with what I was able to make. I was actually worried about one piece and even went back to the studio to have them toss it. I had gouged the side and patched it back together. I was afraid it would blow apart in the kiln. But I was assured it would be ok. And guess what? It was! Of my three pieces, the large bowl I made as a fruit bowl is my favorite. This is followed by a flower vase. My least favorite, a bottle, is the one I was worried about blowing up. I botched the top a bit but I made the best of it. I hid the top by turning the piece into a table lamp. And now I like it just fine. Some small regrets I have are that I wasn't really able to finish the pieces. I trimmed the vase and the bowl. I wasn't able to trim the bottle since it was made on the last day of the class. I also did not get to glaze these for myself. But Colin took down my glaze choices and that was done for me. And they came out beautiful. The vase and the bottle, similar shapes, were done in a denim blue. The bowl was supposed to be green but came out a little more aqua with some iridescence. Looks nice but not as dark as I was imagining. I don't know that I'm ready to jump back in to pottery again but I do still have some other ideas. I keep thinking I want to try hand building since I've twice done wheel throwing. I'll be sure to keep Common Ground in mind for that and see what they have to offer.

The teacher brings years of experience, which shows in the way each activity is explained, adapted, and supported. Every class introduces participants to different art projects, techniques, and materials, giving everyone the opportunity to explore their creativity in new ways. It is also a great environment for socializing with fellow artists, sharing ideas, and celebrating one another's creative work. The classes provide a lot of value through quality instruction, creative exploration, and a welcoming community. We always enjoy our time there and look forward to returning!

Came here two times several months ago and didn't have the greatest experience. My friends and I…read morevisited during two separate weeks, but it just so happened that both times, the instructors we were supposed to have didn't show up, so we had the same substitute instructor twice. We took a beginner wheel class, but I didn't feel like I learned a lot because the substitute instructor had other priorities. The class started about 30 minutes late, but we didn't get to make up that lost time. And to top it off, the instructor was distracted and dropped the piece (that I wanted to keep) while wiring it off the wheel! I understand that it was a hectic day and the instructor was busy all by themself, so I scheduled another beginner class a week later. But, I had a similar experience, and I still didn't feel like the instructor had their full and undivided attention on us. I feel like I didn't get my money's worth both times. I'm sure the classes and instructors are great, but I don't see myself coming back here.
