It was $15 for my dad and I to share a lane (there are 19 lanes) and included all the equipment. We were set up with bows with two different draw strengths, plenty of arrows, and paper targets near and far. They also had packages for half hour increments, lessons, and birthday parties. I did grow up with humidity but we kids didn't have to rely on fire hydrants, I could go swimmin' in many of the 10,000 lakes. Anyway, when I'd see those pictures, I always wondered why the kids looked like they were having so much dang fun. It's just a fire hydrant on blacktop, for God's sake. Now I get it. Now that my kiddo loves it, I get it. Spray parks are totally carefree, mom and dad don't need to do much monitoring, and they're a way to simultaneously stay hot and cool, as opposed to the cool down/warm up routine of a pool. This is a terrific spray park with capacity for easily 40 or 50 kids, I'd guess, and it's a terrific way low-cost alternative venue for birthday parties. Lifeguards around here seem to have just one responsibility: (blows whistle) "No running!" Tough job, guys.

However, the fee was only a few dollars (3) for my 1 and 3 year old and there are friendly lifeguards on duty. There are two restrooms and two shower stalls. I'd suggest wearing your suit to the park. There isn't really a great place to change. The building is older and looks a bit run down. You are able to bring in snacks and /or a cooler. The spray park is on a small slab of concrete. There are 6 water features and about a dozen covered picnic tables around the perimeter. I really enjoyed this enclosed park. It was small enough to watch my daughters splash and splash from my shaded seat. I like splash parks because they are more relaxing than taking little kids to the pool (less worry) and the kiddos have just as much fun. My family will definitely make this a regular activity. Behind the splash pad is a park with a full basketball park, baseball field and what looks like a petting zoo (?) that you can see from behind the fence. There are painted murals as well.

There are 4 full sized regulation sand volleyball courts there. The best part is that the sand is always raked, sprayed and cleaned before our games start to there is no risk or worry about bare foot injury. The restrooms are clean and the owners are very kind! Great bang for your buck on a work league. You can also sign up to be a substitute or free agent on their website.

I've been playing at Charlie's Sandbox for a little over a year now, and have to say that I've met some pretty awesome people here. There are 6 sand courts indoor and 3 courts outside. League play is once a week during weekdays (co-ed 4s and 6s, beginners to advanced levels). For a 6s team, cost per person is about $112, which is kind of steep, but it's for 3 months worth of league play. Open tournaments are on Saturdays and Sundays (King of the Beach, Queen of the Beach, co-ed 4s and 6s). Just check the website to see what tourneys are coming up as well as start times (Charlie usually has a tourney every weekend). Charlie's Sandbox just opened their Sand Bar, which can make things more interesting. ;o) they also serve hot dogs, etc. If you're interested in sand volleyball, definitely check it out.

The front office reeked of weed. They have several bats with the length identified but the weight is unknown, and you need to use their bats unless you want to void your warranty by hitting their plastic dimple balls. The machines need to be maintained better. Only about 50% of the pitches are in the strike zone, erratic pitches usually happens when the wheels are dirty. The only positive is that this facility has automatic ball return so you don't have to worry about loading the balls yourself.
