This is yet another beautiful, clean, well-manicured park located within the community of Rancho Santa Margarita in Southern Orange County, California. The park boasts three lighted tennis courts, a basketball court, four softball / athletic fields, playground equipment for the children, a lattice covered barbecue and picnic area, many tables and benches, and restrooms accessible to the residents of Rancho Santa Margarita with a key card. This appears to be a great park to enjoy a ball game or a lazy afternoon barbecuing with some family and friends, but a few days ago we ended up leaving much earlier than expected because of a couple of deciding factors. My first frustration was that there was only one large playground equipment structure, which had yellow caution tape and orange netting on multiple spots at the top that was haphazardly coming off. I'm not sure what needed to be worked on with the playground equipment, but I made sure that I steered my daughter completely away from that entire section. I could see that being a big liability issue for the city. Second, as a mother, I felt that the rude and extremely misbehaved children (and only children at the time) in the immediate playground area weren't the best influence for my little toddler. There really wasn't another play area to take her to because of there only being the one piece of playground equipment, unlike other parks in the area. We jumped into our car and immediately hopped over to Cielo Vista Park ending up with a much more pleasant experience for everyone involved!

There is a small amount of a slotted covered area but having actual umbrellas would be ideal so you could enjoy din on your lower body or for you and Shade for your face or your young kids . Other then that , there is a little pool for very young ones to get water play in and the actual pool is Olympic size so it's plenty big for most everyone !

Cool midsize park!…read more Lots of green areas, a tennis court, a volleyball court, a good walking path paved trail, and a good size kid's playground! Good shaded areas, good seating areas. Good for groups. Also, bathrooms are available. And sometimes the city plays movies here for the kids and for the community!

Luckily, there's a lot of parking and ample seating in the form of both benches and picnic tables- snag one for body weight exercises and run a couple laps, or cross the parking lot to the staircase for drills. Dog-friendly area had several well-behaved pups come by during my hour-long visit, with bag stations by the street.

Terrible Lifeguards working here. I would be cautious taking a child here who can't swim…read more Today, there were 5 lifeguards and none of them saw a boy significantly drowning/cannot swim. Did any of them help? Nope... It's like they didn't even see a child right in the middle of the pool screaming for help. Luckily, I walked up when this was happening and saw the boy drowning, and jumped in to save him. He was very shook and still none ever came to check on the drowning kid. What are these lifeguards doing? Is it just a show or can they seriously help a drowning person? This is ridiculous. Other than this BIG experience that happened today, the grounds are clean but they need more tables and chairs around the pool areas. And actually making sure the lifeguards are doing their responsibility.

I've been to this park numerous times but never until a couple days ago did I ever appreciate this…read moreplace. Maybe it's because when we go it's usually too hot or too cold. This last time we went, was a nice day, sort of gloomy but still bright for great photos. Borrego park is adjacent to an elementary school and shares a parking lot with Foothill Ranch Library. The shaded playground is right at the entrance of the park with restrooms immediately next to it. The park has a large open green space for sports and we often see soccer practices here of all ages. There is a track around the green which people use for walking or kids riding their scooters and bikes. Around the perimeter you'll find benches and tables for gatherings. The tables towards the front are in good shape, the tables towards the back seem to be new/newer. There is a basketball court at the back end. It looks to have been recently painted. Off to the side of the court are more tables. All of them have holes for umbrellas. In this area, you will find painted rocks in memory of, Blaze. He was a young man that unfortunately lost his life due to a disgusting human. It's quiet here and I like to sit at these back tables. Borrego, is a small community park tucked in a residential neighborhood. It's a peaceful place that overlooks Foothill Ranch and is a very well cared for park. We've been coming here for years. You'll know why when you see it for yourself.
