He has worked in important positions at a number of really prominent michelin-starred restaurants (like aquavit) and is a trained sommelier. There is a Groupon available for the tour which is a great deal if you are paying for it by yourself. Keir was very knowledgeable and has a very impressive resume to back it up. What a fabulous Saturday afternoon! I highly recommend this tour! First off, I need to rave about the tour guide, Keir, he really knows his stuff and he's super passionate about wine and food too, he's also super friendly, very intelligent and a great tour guide. We started off at a pizzeria where he told us a bit about his extensive background in the restaurant industry, including being a chef, a wine director and a sommelier, and asked us what wines we liked to drink. There were maybe 10 people on the tour with us. After ha chatted for a bit, we then tried a Prosecco and a Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, and had some garlic knots and pizza to pair with it. After the pizzeria we were taken to a cute authentic Greek restaurant where we had two Greek wines and some pita with spreads, as well as some fries with feta. At the last stop we were taken to a small quaint wine shop where we tried an excellent Pinot Gris and a Syrah. He also put out a spread of cheese and fresh bread. What a fabulous tour, I couldn't stop telling him how much I enjoyed the tour. I just wish it was longer! read more

This has to be one of the best deals in NYC. I thought that I knew something about wines, boy oh boy was I impressed with my experience. I happened to be part of a birthday group where one of my friends that organized the day had included this wine tour of which I knew nothing about and went in blind. This was the first one I had ever done in my life and we went to three restaurants around the west village. Our tour guide was Keir and I have to say, this guy is a never ending encyclopedia of wine knowledge. His love, passion and respect for wine is clear as he could easily have turned our three hour tour into three days, musing on wines! We went to three restaurants and were able to try a whole variety of wines along with some really nice bites of food. The great thing about Keir is that with all of his love and knowledge of the subject, you never once felt intimidated by anything that you drank. There were a couple of French wines that I tried that I knew nothing about and he was able to explain and educate us about them in a very down to earth manner without ever coming off as snobbish as you often find in the wine world.
