Yay for veggie friendly places! This place marks their items with a V on the menu. We got some potatoes, asparagus, green salad, and mushroom risotto. I stumbled upon Luzia after leaving the beach and doing some late night shopping, and I certainly do not regret it. Upon entering Luzia, I immediately noticed there was a wait due to nearly every table on the first floor being occupied, however, the gentleman host (or manager/owner) was welcoming and encouraged me to stay, so I did. The gentlemen escorted me to the bar and stated the wait should not be that long. I waited at the bar for my table for nearly 45 minutes yet the bartender did not speak nor did she offer me a beverage. Once I was seated at a table, the initial service to place my drink order was extremely slow. However, I remained patient because the waitstaff was clearly busy and the establishment may have been understaffed that particular night. Once our waiter made it to our table, the experience skyrocketed. I do not remember his name but I distinctly recall him stating he was originally from the Dominican Republic. The gentleman was efficient, knowledgeable, and made excellent recommendations. He even helped unload a delivery truck while I was enjoying my entrée. He is truly a great employee, an asset to Luzia, and he is destined for greatness! Located around Barrí Gotíc, Luzia is definitely packing chic, sophisticated vibes with some rich tastes. The restaurant is decorated in a modern beautiful style.... For food we had: Patatas Bravas: yummmm! Having tried many types of this around BCN, this place truly makes it right. The sauces they use here are finger licking good. Focaccia: this tapa is made a little different here compared to the States, however it was nice. Covered with olive oil and some herbs it was a great compliment to the wine and olives we had. Asparagus Risotto: now don't get me wrong, seeing the words asparagus and zucchini on the menu usually shuns me away, however my gut told me to take a chance. Boy! I was really impressed with their risotto, it is also accompanied by bits of smoked burrata which only added to the creamy flavor of the risotto Tagliorini: yum yum. It's looks simple but it tasted better than simple. This dish is topped with pesto and basil which brings out the flavor and really brings this dish up. The pasta style is very thin noodle-like and it works well with the dish and sauce Rigatoni: mhmmm pure cheese heaven. This pasta was set in creamy alfredo sauce and made with truffle sauce. Luzia is a fantastic place to eat a delicious meal in the heart of Gothic Quarter! Highly recommended to all!! read more

This place is so awesome. When you don't know where to eat, or what you want to eat in s bustling location such as las rambles, this is a go to. It has everything you need from sushi, to Italian to Spanish tapas flare and everything prepared very well. We ordered the pizza, the tuna appetizer and the pimentos de padron which I was addicted to while traveling through Spain. The sangria was also delicious and the wine flows and is cheap. I first tried this place back in 2014. My hotel was across the street and ate here several times during my stay. I decided to check it again, almost 2 years later, and I'm glad that the quality of the food hasn't changed. I highly recommend the cava sangria. The pizza is backed on a fire wood oven and it's delicious. The jamon iberico y pan con tomate is also a good choice for sharing. On this trip what impressed me the most was the sushi. I'm always weary of sushi at non-sushi establishments but it met all my expectations. The ingredients were fresh and the rice cooked to perfection. Highly recommend Luiza. read more

A surprising find in a very touristy area of Barcelona... a reprieve in the midst of a million people milling around. Contemporary vibe with attentive staff and delicious food. We ordered wild Alaskan salmon, patatas bravas and asparagus. Of particular mention was the aoli in each of the dishes. The red wine sangria was a perfect accompaniment to our tapas type meal. Conveniently located across the street from our hotel (Le Meridien) and having the appearance of being popular, we decided to give it a try. We actually dined both upstairs and downstairs - each place offering differing menu items. Upstairs (La Xina) was Asian focused, where downstairs (Luzia) was more traditional fare (tapas/pizza/salads). We enjoyed both meals, with La Xina standing out as the better of the two. I was shocked at how delicious the dumplings were at La Xina. We sat at the counter and watched the chefs as they prepared our food, and were in awe of the dumpling chef and the way he made dumpling making look so easy. We shared spicy shrimp noodles, and several different styles of dumplings...ALL delicious. The service was great! Luzia didn't stand out as much as La Xina, but they did offer a rather tasty sangria. We shared a pizza (which was dry and unremarkable) and a few tapas. Service was slow and our waiter was rather inattentive. We were seated near the open kitchen and had fun watching the chef barking orders at his staff. I would certainly eat at La Xina again, but probably not Luzia. read more

When we went for dinner, we had a good meal; but it wasnt anything too amazing (hence my previous 3 star review). However, once we went for breakfast? They shot up to a full 5 stars. They offer fresh juices! (the carrot, apple, ginger one was incredible); they have the best cortado in Barcelona, and their breakfast offerings are all delicious. We came here for breakfast 3 different mornings; its THAT good. Plus, they were located on the same block as our hotel which made the convenience unbeatable. If I am ever back in Barcelona this place is definitely on my list for breakfast. They have more healthy options than anywhere else we went to and the service was always great. Visited here in June and experienced awful customer service. A blonde lady showed us to our table and offered to take orders. I asked questions related to which menu items were gluten free. After not being able to answer, she abruptly left and began talking to her colleague. She did not explain why she was leaving. I thought maybe she was asking her colleague for clarifications, but neither she nor this colleague offered assistance. After some time of being ignored, a new team member approached our table. I asked if he was the team member who was going to answer the questions about the gluten free menu items. This gentleman rudely said "No I am waiting on you!". The customer service was so poor that the person I was with didn't order anything and I ordered minimal items that appeared most likely to be gluten free. I would absolutely never return after such shoddy treatment. read more

Ate dinner here once on a 4 night stay at the Hotel 1898 next door. This place is essentially a tourist trap (should have known since the hotel didn't mention this place when giving us dining options in the area). Our server was rushed, rude and incapable. Maybe I'm asking too much, but when my wife and I eat a $150euro dinner, we expect a relaxed experience. We ordered 3 tapas to start and wanted to browse the menu. Waitress was angry we weren't ready to order within 90 seconds of seating. She badgered us every time she walked by the table. We finally ordered our meals, a whole 6 min later. Our meals came out in minutes, but the tapas never showed up. Our pitcher of sangria arrived half way through the meal. The steak is terrible - it was cooked a good med rare, but it was literally half gristle and couldn't have been more than 3oz to start. That worked out to roughly $6euro per bite (no joke). We didn't order the pizza, they appeared to be the best thing on the menu once we looked around. Ultimately, we left and went to El Nacional which was fabulous. Don't waste your time here. read more

Fantastic pizza in Barcelona right off La Ramba. Elegant atmosphere and very clean restaurant. Service is polite, professional but very slow compared to what I'm used to in New York City.
