Had passed this place many times over the years but never tried it until now. Was with the hubby and his Uncle who is a frequent traveler to Taiwan, Vietnam, etc. and he knows good dumplings. Not very big inside but there were enough empty tables to accommodate us on a Saturday night. We all ordered a soup and each of our huge bowls of soup were amazing - hubby had the wonton, I had the egg drop and his Uncle had the hot and sour and we all agreed they were the best wonton, egg drop and hot and sour soups we'd ever had. We also ordered three different types of steamed dumplings - pork and cabbage, beef and onion and beef and mushroom - all were excellent! Very fresh, very flavorful, very filling. We also ordered some fried rice but asked to omit any fish and it was great. It was nice and light and the pieces of sausage flavored it very nicely. We will definitely be back to try other types of dumplings as they have many to choose from (pork, lamb, beef, chicken, seafood, etc.) and we may try some fried dumplings also. Umm interesting.... We decided to dine in food is served on paper plates, we had the fried dumplings from here. SUPER greasy! Like the paper plate was disintegrating from the amount of grease. You take a bite and grease flies everywhere, after the first one you learn to bite just the corner then dump the grease out that makes it somewhat edible. We came here after seeing an Emeril Lagasse show where he and Mario Batali go to China to try soup dumplings in 3 of the best soup dumpling places. It made me want soup dumplings so bad but because it was close to midnight I could not venture out. We would usually drive into the city to try ethnic cuisines but we are not trying to go to the city during a pandemic. My husband being the awesome husband he is Yelped a place near us and came up with Palace Dumplings. I was skeptical at first but said why not. I placed an order for dumplings. An order of each of the following: pork and scallions, beef and onion and shrimp and pork as well as an order of fried rice. I called it in, it was done in 20 minutes. My husband brought it to the car and we ate it there with our daughter. You have to eat dumplings hot so taking it on a half hour drive home was not an option. We tried the shrimp then the beef and then the pork. We thought we liked them in that order but the more of them we ate the better they were so we could not decide which was best. Order them all and decide for yourself. Going by the standard for a good soup dumpling thickness of wall, filling and broth this was a good ratio. Like Emeril it's about the broth. And the broth was flavorful. As a true skeptic I was skeptical about trying the rice. Only because the color was not what I was used to in fried rice. I am glad I have a husband and daughter that love to try new things. The rice was delicious! It reminded me of Thai pineapple fried rice as it had a hint of sweetness. I kept looking for pineapple but didn't find any. Maybe they use juice. The rice has little sausages and shrimp that make for a nice flavor combo. We were pleased and stuffed. Beef noodle soup and dumplings ..... in Wappingers Falls! I'm glad this place is here . The beef noodle soup and dumplings are very similar to the one in Chinatown (city.) Beef noodle soup is similar to LanZhou pulled noodle and the dumplings are good as well. But the price of the dumpling price is a bit high. Vanessa's only charge $2 for 4 pcs. But then again, I don't have to take the metro north or drive to the city for any dumpling fix! One advice, if you have the beef & noodle to go,ask to separate the broth and the noodle . Authentic chinese flavors that you can't really find in the area. All dumplings are homemade and handmade. There is a serious difference in comparison to most restaurants that usually give you freezer dumplings. The traditional ones that I love to order is their pork and chive dumplings. If you're in the area and want to try what REAL authentic chinese flavors taste like, try this place out. The only reason why I did not give the full 5 stars is because the service tends to be on the slow side. The restaurant itself is not the most lavish but the food is pretty decent. read more

Amazing. Very, very delicious dumplings. We had the egg, mushroom, and pepper, and the vegetarian. The veggies were crunchy and fresh. The egg was soft and extremely flavorful with the pepper. The egg and tomato noodles were really good in a comfort food sort of way, though they maybe needed a little extra heat. The cucumber and horseradish plate was a welcome refresher. The sauces they give you at the table are varied and each unique and again, very flavorful in their own right. It was very busy when we were there, understandably so, so go at slightly off times if you want to avoid that. read more

The dumplings are amazing! Cheap for the amount you get. However, do not order lo mein...we ordered vegetarian lo mein....literally disgusting. It tasted like it was tossed in a can of chef boyardee. NEVER GOING BACK. There's an older man there who was taking orders yesterday. He was rude to say the very least. Came to the table to take our order and interrupted our conversation to say "Let's go." There were two of us. We ordered two plates of dumplings One dumpling order came out right away. The second order came out after a couple came in and sat at the table behind us, ordered, ate and paid their bill. Also 2 other tables got their dumpling orders while we were waiting. When we had the audacity to ask where our other order was, the older man told us we shouldn't come there if we were in a hurry. When he finally returned with the order, he threw the plate on the table and said "See. It pays to be patient." We were patient. We waited over 25 minutes for the second order to arrive. When I went to pay at the counter, he looked up and said "What do you want?" not "Sorry for the delay with your order." Food is still good. Service isn't. Very good dumplings. They have unique ones like duck, that are super yummy. They are also pretty cautious with the Covid restrictions which I appreciate. My only beef with this place is the amount of styrofoam they use. If you order three different dumplings you are getting them in three different boxes of styrofoam. And these dumplings are more expensive than dumplings at dumpling places in NYC, which I am completely fine with they are delicious, but maybe they can offset that elevated pricing by using less styrofoam or consider using more biodegradable packaging. read more

Was excited to get some dumplings last week after not visiting this restaurant for a number of years. The last time we were there the food was great and the service was ok. The place was busy. This last week I walked into a place I did not recognize. It was dirty, tables were sticky, and the service was absolutely terrible. There were 2 other tables with customers other than us. We barely were greeted upon arrival, the host was unfriendly and distracted and the table top was dirty. We asked to have it cleaned before we sat down. She obliged but with no hospitality. It was covered in peas, onion and sauce dripping. When we sat down we stuck to the bench seats. I tried to make pleasant conversation with the server thanking her for cleaning the table, which she only did because I asked, and saying how excited I was to have delicious dumplings here again. No response or eye contact or anything. Not welcoming at all. In fact, it felt like those of in the actual restaurant were not a priority at all, but a bother. The table behind us had been waiting an extraordinarily long time for their food and when they had to walk up to the cashier/server to ask about it, turns out the sever not only got the order wrong but had not bothered to check in with them during their long wait. When asked how much longer the wait, she said the dumplings had not even been started. No apology, not even a sense of embarrassment. The couple was frustrated but polite and took what they could get and sat back down. During this time the server still had not come to my table to take our order and we watched her make no eye contact with us, walk to the back to talk with her mother or mother in law, play with a baby for a minute, then sit at the front filling plastic cups full of sauce for take out. We had made it clear we were dine in customers, but she just could not be bothered. The couple waiting told her to forget the dumplings since it was heading toward 30 minutes since the initial order and she asked them if they weee eating in or taking out. This was after they told her explicitly they were eating in and waiting for the food in the discussion 10 minutes before. Her solution was to scream in Chinese into the kitchen and still offer no accommodation or apology. Then more loud yelling into the kitchen. Why she could not have walked in and had a more quiet conversation I do not know. So unprofessional. Right after this, the other table had to come up to the service area and ask for sauce for their eat in meal. I realized then that the whole time we were being ignored, the 3 rd group was being ignored longer. The irony of this terrible service is that in view of the customers seated in the back right of the restaurant was an old man, likely a grandfather, watching the older woman circulating in the back and the younger server absolutely doing everything but servicing the customers. He sat in dim light surrounded by crap and boxes looking sad, unwell, and disengaged. The table looking for sauce had to ask him for help getting what they needed and he just barked out something with no sense of urgency to the female staff. I looked at my friend, down at the sticky and dirty menu, at the completely checked out people running the place, the baby being passed around, the old dude, and the very frustrated customers and realized the chances we would ever be asked to order, she would get the order right, we would not have to wait forever, and it would be served with pride and professional skill was an increasing long shot. Then, I remembered that in the dirty window at the entrance it was stated that prices had increased due to overhead costs. So, we stood up without anyone taking our order, without the one table even getting their food, and with the other walking around trying to get the sauce from half dead grampa and walked out the door. When this place opened years ago, it was a smash business. Local and small and run with pride. What it seems to be now is a dirty dive that thinks it's a daycare center and senior care facility that on occasion makes dumplings but could care less when you get them nor have the competency to even make your wait pleasant. We came in so ready and excited and left feeling so sad, hungry and ignored. The place was depressing and tragic. If these are the original owners, they have lost their way, if these are new owners, they have ruined what was once the most exciting and respected small restaurant in the area failing in every aspect of food service. They should be ashamed. What I hope is that this very blistering criticism is evidence someone who still cares about the place can use to justify making some huge changes and holding those who are making such terrible decisions accountable for inexcusable management. They should feel ashamed and make drastic changes. People who love food want you to succeed but you have to step up. read more

2 stars for, "Meh, I've had better." No complaints about the food. It was good, even when compared to the NYC competition. My gripe was the service. Kept trying to up sell our group. They came out with items we did not order and forced us to accept it after a near shouting confrontation. You want to loose the patronage of a group of 12 people, that's how to do it. My wife and I ate at Palace Dumplings which was near our hotel. We knew going in that there were lots of issues with the service, but I am a big fan of dumplings, so I was willing to give it a shot. We did more laughing than anything, due to the fact that the service reminded us of the soup nazi episode of Seinfeld. Everyone working there seemed angry, and the older man that many other reviewers have mentioned was true to form. However, the food was excellent, and very fresh.
