Wow. Pretty bad/lazy food. Dingy waiting room, even though they seem takeout only. Ordered sweet & sour chicken. What I'm used to is tender chunks of white and dark meat chicken stir-fried with green peppers, red peppers, sliced onions, spices, and a zesty sauce. What I got was packaged breaded chicken from a freezer, warmed up, and a small container of sweet-and-sour sauce to pour over it. No vegetables or anything else. The included "pork fried rice" was just yellow rice with about a thimbleful of pork and no vegetables or egg visible in it. My wife's dinner was similarly bad. A Panda Express would have been a huge upgrade from this. So sad that a small burb like Hyde Park with its excellent Culinary Institute down the road, can't expect better Chinese food from a place this. read more

Finally got to try here, since last time got unlucky and someone hit a transformer and whole plaza lost power. Seriously... the service was pretty fast to order and waited less than the usual 15 for my meal. I give them credit definitely the best chicken teriyaki skewers ever, other places you barely get any meat and it's dried out like jerky consistency wise, nope here you get big juicy pieces of tender and well seasoned chicken, eat more like a meal than appetizer. For the shrimp with garlic sauce, could been way more spicer since it was very mild to say the least. The shrimp was cooked well and very large and plump, the veggies were okay, fresh and bathed in a generous amount sauce which is another plus, sometimes place get cheap on sauce. Worth coming back here when they had electricity to get lunch. read more

We love China Wok, have been getting takeout from them since they opened. The food is great, all made fresh and in generous portions; we often get more than one meal out of a dish. The restaurant has seats if one chooses to eat in, but it is primarily a takeout place. Still, everything is incredibly clean and everyone is so friendly. We've been all over the world. I've even had Chinese food in Tibet, but I will always return to China Wok. read more

Great spot for Chinese Food. Eat in or take out. Very clean. Friendly service. They even have Oolong tea bags and hot water to make tea. Menu is extensive with amazing deals on lunch specials. We stayed in for our first visit and food was freshly made and delicious. Portion sizes are huge - could make 3 meals out of my $5.50 chicken and broccoli lunch! There are already several Chinese restaurants for take-out in Hyde Park, some of which I've gone to for years. To get my attention and business, you have to do better than your established competition. China Wok - which is right next to the Stop & Shop - got my attention and will get my business. While it is primarily take-out, the tables and chairs here are much more numerous and comfortable than the aforementioned competition. There are even a few small sofas with magazines where you can sit comfortably and read while waiting for your food. It's very clean too. The guy behind the counter who took our order was friendly and attentive. When I pulled my "Grand Opening" flyer out of my pocket to compare its prices to the menus on the counter, he noticed and immediately gave me the 10% discount without being prompted. There were 3 cooks in the kitchen, so our orders came out very quickly. The prices are reasonable, especially for lunch. I ordered one of today's specials, Four Seasons, so that I could sample the beef, chicken, pork, and shrimp as well as vegetables. All were well prepared, nothing was overdone or underdone. The portion was generous. Nothing was over-sauced. The chicken and broccoli even had a hint of ginger. Hot tea was available for free. China Wok is a nice add to the plaza. read more

The food is prepared freshly and is delicious. Placing a phone order is generally an easy process. I am not big on Chinese food these days. However, the egg drop soup and the shrimp lo mein is smoking good. The only down side is the attitude of the women who works in the store. Love the peanut noodles here. I miss the sesame peanut noodles that Mill House Panda used to have SOOO MUCH. This is the closest I have found so far. I do doctor it up at home. I heat it a bit, add some red pepper flakes, might thin it a bit and add some fresh cucumber. I then steam some broccoli and it makes a delish meal. These are the best sesame peanut noodles I have found since Mill House in this area. People are nice, place is large, cool and clean. read more

Not all take-out places are the same. The food at China Wok is very fresh. I really miss the Cantonese noodles from Mill House Panda in Poughkeepsie and the veggie lo-mein here is almost as good. Their wonton and dumpling filling is so tasty. Sub gum wonton soup is also excellent and full of fresh crispy veggies. The woman at the front desk is always very nice when I go in to pick up. Always looks clean and boxes and things are up off the floor and organized. (You ever notice how take out places always have a crazy amount of boxes everywhere?) read more

This was my first visit to this establishment. l called ahead for a take-out order (lunch special) of Boneless Ribs with their fried pork rice .hey said that it would be ready in 10 minutes. l arrived in 7 minutes and it was ready. The ribs was delicious and the the fried rice was tasty, single grain, just how l like it. l will return at a later date. The food was fresh and tasty. read more

I don't come very often into a Chinese restaurant, so it was odd when I just appeared twice within a two week time period at this Chinese location. Although the first time I ended up doing a take-out order, the second time we came in here it was raining out and I had to stop off for a moment at the Dollar Tree nearby. (from here on in, this review is solely for the second appearance that was an "eat-in" experience.) When I came in here the other day, I knew exactly what I wanted (Chicken and Cashew) but wasn't too knowledgeable about price and although the employee was trying to convince me to buy the combo platter for the chicken and cashews (with the egg roll and fried rice), I really didn't know what I wanted and if anyone who travelled with me would eat the egg roll. I had totally forgotten that they could switch white rice for the fried in these dishes (upon request only, I learned later), so it came and I wasn't really expecting the rice as well. (I'm not crazy about the taste and texture of fried rice (which tastes almost like a wheat-grain)), but I'm still living. (I ended up giving away that rice and ate the remainder.) From here the other day, I was surprised when the employee brought out our order after paying. This is something we don't generally receive from a Chinese restaurant. We generally have trays where we have to carry our food over to the table, and something I was expecting but was unfounded when I had done a eat-in order. The chicken and cashews were sweat, although I would have appreciated just a few more chicken pieces in there with just a few more nuts - they went high on the vegetables - of which there was celery and carrots and even some baby-corn-on-the-cob pieces. There were mushroom pieces and stuff I don't really like very much included as well. Since I don't come into many Chinese restaurants, I can't really compare this place in price to any nearby location. However, for those that I have, very few places near me (like the East Wok in the Hudson Valley Mall in Kingston, NY) offer this dish - and that's something I actually can take in to savor. If it wasn't for the fact that they forgot to hand us our fortune cookies and got snippy when we told them there mistake, it would have been a pleasurable experience, but I don't mind. read more

The worst. Ordered lunch to take out for my wife and myself. When I got home found the shrimp was raw barely cooked. The twice cooked pork probably would have been better if it had been cooked once. The side effects of this experience were not pretty. I'll spare you the details. To begin, the egg rolls were wet and flavorless, so we didn't even have those to fall back on. The fried rice was ok, but just ok. And the lo mein had a very strange smell that none of us could figure out, but I ate it anyway because I was starving and didn't want to steal from someone else' plate. Wish I had. Went here tonight, September 10th, with 2 of my friends. Together we spent about $30. I ordered eggdrop wonton soup among other combination platters. After waiting a short time, we sat down and noticed that my eggdrop wonton soup had no wontons. No problem, mistakes happen. So I tell the owner who tells me that it was her mistake and that I had to pay an extra dollar if I wanted the wontons and began to argue with me. I've never heard of a resturant making the customer pay for a mistake they made. Won't be returning. Owner is rude and doesn't know how to treat the customer. read more

I eat out about 8 times a week always on the road, and I have to say that I'm in that area quite often and this is NOW the only Chinese Place I will eat in this area, and why you ask... 1) Well to start with it is the cleanest Chinese restaurant I have ever seen. 2) Then there is the food, cooked right every time and consistent and I always find their dishes to be more flavorful. And last time I was there they told me they will be bring in some authentic Chinese dishes. Finally, there is a great Chinese restaurant in the Dutchess County area. Great food, fast service (10 minutes). I go there 2-3 times weekly. They are spot on with your order. You do not have to go back several times to correct the wrong order they gave you; only to have them blame you for there mistakes. The food is of top quality. Only Chinese restaurant in the area that doesn't keep you waiting on take out orders. When they say 10 minutes they have your food there ready for pick up and hot. They do not have you wait after telling you 10 minutes and you end up waiting 20-30 minutes. Food is far superior to any of the Chinese restaurants in the area. The indoors eating areas are very clean. They are very friendly to all there customers. They do not give you an attitude and appear overwhelmed when you place a order. walked into the restaurant with my mom and dad, after a long day of being super hungry and flying a 8hr flight, and my dad who is highly allergic to eggs agreed to me to have some Chinese food, as we were from LA used to eating Chinese food all the time and used tk restaurents making egg free food, as we walked in this young lady in the front was super rude even after requesting to listen to us and just explaim the itema that consist of egg, she wasnt willing to and we where just trying to be precaustious cz just a little egg can kill my dad but she was not willing to listen to him at all. she asked why we came to her restaurant if we had so many problems, she said if you have a problem you should eat in your house, and a staff from back of the house came out talking really rude and super loud to dad, saying do you have a problem, hey you do you have a PROBLEM MAN because of the akward situation we decided to just to go the food, and i am never goin back there my first experience in Hyde park, bad service, bad food bad attitude please listen to your guests sometimes and lower your tone and off course dad did get a reaction, he had to cancel his mesting and stay at the hotel read more
