Some of the playground is pretty torn up with one orange cone as a warning for a disintegrating floor. Plenty of parking is available on all sides of the recreation center. This is just a great place for people to meet outside, as they have a lovely park with a fountain and nice walkways. It's a hidden gem for a recreation center. Get there early as the place fills up. If you are going for badminton you have to have your whole party there before you can sign up. The only not so great part was the introduction of paid parking for balboa park in general. But you know what we had it free since 1915 or something, so not horrible. Besides the proceeds from the parking fees will go to making balboa park even better, I hope.

There are 2 play structures, a few swings, 1 basketball hoop, frisbee golf goal, a large grassy play field, and a walking path that goes around the park. It's not a very large park and no there are no bathrooms, which is the only downfall for this park. There are picnic tables and covered tables for eating and benches by the play structures to watch the kiddos. My kids enjoyed the park. Super low key and not busy. This is a nice play area for a couple hours to take the kids, do some exercise, or walk your pets.

Some people may not like HOAs, but it is often a double edged sword. It prevents your neighbor from doing whatever they want and it prevents you from doing wild things as well. Limiting the colors one can paint their house is definitely a positive attribute. Although this may sound odd the neighborhood takes on a serene atmosphere. Although I love my house and the back faces east with panoramic views, I found the Community center to be a hidden gem. RB Swim and Tennis is very nice, but the EastviewRB Community Center is special. Always a nice person to greet you and the 25 meter pool which is kept at 80 degrees year around is a blessing and is never crowded. I cannot imagine a nicer place to live.

Apparently the ladies who run the place want it that way so it can all be cleared after meetings so they can have their exercise group. The TV has no cable hookup, so watching a game with a group is not possible. The holiday parties for residents are overpriced and geared to the silver hair set. Deposits for private events are prohibitive. In summary, the committee that runs the place needs some younger blood, and they need to look at other nearby centers for some fresh ideas.
