Ironically, I had just driven past this place the night before and was intrigued by the Western decor of the building randomly located amongst all the love motels on Okeechobee Rd. The food was very reasonably priced, considering bbq is usually pricey. The brisket and ribs were tasty, but really could have used a side of bbq sauce. How to you send out bbq without sides of sauces?! For sides, I'd recommend the mac & cheese and cole slaw, although the cole slaw portion was smaller than the other sides. Our lunch did "lift my spirits" as predicted! Don't pay attention to the lunch special sign out front ... it's difficult to discern what is included in this - maybe a list of sandwiches at the bar, maybe not! I had the barbeque chicken with white rice and cole slaw. All was really good. But ... 4 drumsticks is not the half chicken listed in the menu. My husband had the half ribs with congri and yucca. I decided to try this restaurant out for the first time. I reserved it for 15 people and had an AMAZING time. From the quality of the food to the attention my family and I recieved from the owners themselves & the servers. The ambience is beautiful with fairy lights outside and even cats that are chilling around the patio area. The piña colada was a must try. This location used to be known as Hitching Post, an old Miami BBQ spot that I'm sure had been around before the 20 years when I'd come here for lunch from the coworkers at my first job. It used to be low slung and dimly lit. I tried going a few years back, and the greasy smell drove me away. Fast forward two weeks back, and I see it renamed to its current name and a "New Ownership" sign, so I decided to give it a try. I saw actual smoke as I came in which is a good sign at a BBQ spot. Architecturally, the space is more open with a bar in the center and better lighting. I walked in before the dinner rush, and was pleasantly greeted, having the restaurant mostly to myself. (People did start arriving as I left.) The menu is meat eater heaven, with combo plates of ribs and chicken, or ribs, chicken and ham. They also serve burgers. My dinner appetite was a little more measured so I started with a potato skin appetizer. I like the fact they're done with slices of real cheese, fresh green onions along with a nice sprinkling of bacon. Next up was their bbq half chicken. A big bird (I couldn't finish!) and I like that their base sauce is sweet BBQ. Baked beans are tasty, as is the corn on the cob. I could have done without the sprinkled cheese and more butter on the corn but I'll just be more specific next time. I know this place for more than 20 years when I used to work at Hialeah and at least one a month on Fridays we went for lunch, was the best pull pork and ribs ever . This time I was hungry and pass by and want to remember the old times. When I open the door I was impressed with the new layout, a bar in the middle look very cozy. We order chicken wings as appetizer, ribs and BBQ pull pork as dinner. They bring the food first and when we asked for the wings? The waitress said that the wings take longer to cook than the food. Came by for a quick dinner with the family. We received great service and delicious food. The food came out looking presentable and tasted very fresh. For appetizers we got mozzarella sticks , came out super fast and the cheese was soft and melting and ah so yummy! We tried churrasco and ribs combo, cooked to order. My family was traveling, staying at the Embassy Suites. Desperate for food, we got delivery menus from the front desk. The five adults agreed on Paladar BBQ based on the lovely brochure. The food came fast in just 30 minutes. $135 order! That's the end of the good news. Fries: greasy, cold in the middle, no salt, gross. Brisket: fatty, tough, no smokiness, dry. Salad: brown lettuce, two nice tomato slices, ranch dressing was clumpy and flavorless. Chicken strips: pan fried, only brown on one side, no seasoning, chewy. Only 3 were sent although the menu says five. (No matter, I only ate one.) Pulled pork sandwich: large chucks of fat, burnt pieces, soggy roll. Mozz sticks: cold in the middle, cheese didn't melt. Jalapeño poppers: pan fried, cooked on one side, greasy. Corn bread: disgusting and inedible, not baked through. Saturated with humidity. Look, I give great reviews when warranted, so please don't think I'm a whiner. But this was a horrible meal. The vacation can only get better! read more

BBQ? In Hialeah? Yep. Its real. And its good. Ordered the chicken and rib combo for lunch. Got a side salad and mac and cheese included in the price of $17. Chicken is a full quarter. Smoked well and very tender. Ribs were around a half rack. Smoked well, pulled mostly off the bone with a good tug. Were the larger size ribs which are harder to cook to a tender state, not the short cuts you get from a chain restaurant which will fall off the bone without much skill because they have a higher fat content. The Mac and Cheese was deadly in a good way. Sinful and indulgent. Picture Guy Ferreri taking a bite and then staring at the screen for 10 seconds, then smiling. It is that good. Large portions for the price. Being from TX i consider myself fairly versed in the ways of BBQ. The price vs. quantity is above average. I believe they are using a sweeter wood, such as cherry or peach to smoke the meats. You can taste it. It is definitely noticeable. Why only 4 stars then? They sauce the meat before serving. Its a light sauce, and its delicious, but in my opinion sauce should not touch a rib until the end user deems necessary. Other than that everything was really good. Overall I would definitely recommend if you want some great BBQ. Great value for money and you will not be hungry when you leave. read more

Almost didn't eat here since while approaching the front door there was loud music blaring from the outside speakers. We walked in and it wasn't as loud, but still unpleasant. Mind you, it was around 1pm on Saturday so there was no need for the "nightclub music and volume". Our waitress was nice, greeted us in Spanglish, and promptly brought our drinks. My partner and I decided to order from this place via Uber eats. We usually like to check places out by visiting them but due to the COVID-19 quarantine we decided we'll support from afar. He's a huge rib lover so he knows good ribs. The prices seemed pretty reasonable for a full rack of ribs so that's what we chose, the St. Louis full rack to be exact. Sides aren't included but we ended up getting mac & cheese, cornbread, and fries. I'll start by saying the portion sizes are VERY shareable which is a bonus when getting takeout or delivery. The mac & cheese was by far the best food item out of everything. The cornbread was a nice compliment to the meal, it even came with a little butter packet in case you like your cornbread buttered. The fries are probably good when you get them fresh but ours were soggy due to the heat from being closed in the container. Here's really why I'm only giving Paladar three stars... the ribs. Being the main dish I expected way more, there was no flavor, the bbq sauce was almost non existent and the meat was a little dry for twenty dollars and up for a rack of ribs I was hoping for something flavorful. read more

I am convinced that whomever rated this restaurant highly either works there or has never eaten barbecue prior to their visit. I will start with the appetizer--mozzarella sticks that taste like they were frozen and then baked in the oven. My main course was barbecue chicken which was okay but tasted as if it had been cooked and drizzled with store-bought BBQ sauce. The mac and cheese , oh man THE MAC AND CHEESE! Imagine if you will, boxed mac and cheese sprinkled with canned parmesan (they really did try to sell it by putting it into a cast-iron skillet). I would also like to add that I could do without club music blasting through the speakers while I'm trying to eat. I will say the service was good and the server was very attentive.
