Love this little spot in downtown Winchester. The ambience and decor give cute little NYC bar/restaurant. They did a great job with the small space that they have in making it feel open and much larger than it actually is. Service was great and drinks were perfect. We ordered an appetizer, the Cuban egg rolls, and it was flavorful and simply delicious. Will def return to try an entree. What a wonderful discovery in old town Winchester! Walking in, the ambience immediately hits you. Quirky, elevated, cozy. It's a mixture of speakeasy and rustic cabin. But it works. Main floor has a large bar in the back and multiple tables and booths. Spacey, but not the Kevin kind. Upstairs has more seating, an outdoor patio with whimsical tea lights, and AN ENTIRE OTHER BAR. Plenty of room to spread out and I could see upstairs being a wonderful event space. Food was incredible: we had the twice baked potato and the General Tso's Brussels and both were delicious. Our bartender, Amy, was exceptionally kind as were all the staff we met. Amy took such good care of us and made us feel at home. Attentive, vibrant, and fun. We had a blast and came back the next morning for brunch. Did I mention they do brunch?!? Our new favorite Old Town spot. read more

I loved the vibe of this place! It's super cute and well decorated. It was also packed when I came in at 6 on a Wednesday. I was seated near the front window, so lots of time to people watch. I asked the waitress for a dinner recommendation and she said the teriyaki beef tips. I wouldn't have selected that myself, so I was glad for her opinion. I thought they were good. Tender beef and a nice teriyaki. I just wish the sesame seeds were toasted! The green beans were cold which was a surprise, though they were in a nice gochujang sauce and I like them. I asked for an angel's envy old fashioned and it wasn't that great. The orange peel had too much pith, instead of one big ice cube it was cubes and the cherry was just meh. First time here and it was an amazing experience. Amy the bartender introduced herself right away. She was super attentive we never had to wait. Super personality and she made the whole place. This is a cute addition to downtown Winchester! The drinks are delicious, food portions are massive, and prices are fair. I got the watermelon lemon drop, and I recommend it if you like sweeter drinks. Everyone I was with thoroughly enjoyed their drinks as well. For food, we got the Bavarian pretzel and crab dip to share amongst 4 people. They were both huge!! The pretzel was pretty standard, nothing too crazy. It is sad because we went to Paladin in Middletown and it was excellent. This one is the worst. I ordered chicken and waffles. 1. The chicken was burnt to crisp. 2. The jambalaya tasted like the boxed jambalaya. The waitress was obnoxious. She kept tell us yum yum. Then she told me she was taking all my money. Rude! read more

First off... thanks for recreating a great space for downtown Winchester. Food is great. Service is great. Please loose the offensive t-shirts worn by staff. I don't need to be explaining to my kids why the waitstaff has cuss words on their uniforms. I know it is "clever" - but ruins a night out with the family and not needed when you have a solid kitchen, staff and space. read more

We heard they had generous portions but we were disappointed when they came out with small to medium sized things unlike the reviews. My friend got a cheesesteak which lacked any flavor, my other friend asked for some of the stuff on the side and his food came out all together. They did offer to fix his food though. They forgot to put one of the components of my meal as well which they added after I asked. The table's food behind us was also messed up. The people sitting at the bar were very loud and ruined the ambiance of the place. It didn't live up to the reputation. read more

Order food to go- jambalaya was way over cooked, hard bits of rice and chicken and literally got 2 (TWO) pieces of sausage. The teriyaki steak was ok but came with BURNT broccoli not broccolini like it said, the bison meatballs were unseasoned and just not good. Paid way too much to not be good. read more

I've been wanting to try this place since they've opened. Finally went last weekend. Now before I give you my experience I think you should try it for yourself because your experience might be better than mine. Now the bartender and manager was very caring. Started off with a blueberry mojito. From the pic you wouldn't be able to tell it's a blueberry mojito. Didn't taste anything but simple syrup, club soda, lime juice and a hint of mint. Couldn't taste the rum or blueberry . Nachos were ok. Chicken was very bland. The tropic crown royal was very refreshing! Main meal had to be sent back twice and after the second time I just gave up and left(took a fork bite of everything). Chicken was bland, mushrooms were very salty like it was from a can, mashed potatoes were good and the green beans were just the right consistency but all you tasted was butter/oil and garlic. No other seasoning. I heard the location in clear brook is very good so I'm definitely going to try that location! I just hope the downtown spot gets better! read more

This place is located in a nice area and they have worked hard to create a trendy drinking location, but the food and the menu have a long way to go. There are too many competitors in Winchester making burgers, sandwiches, salad and fries and doing it better. I would like to see that venue concentrate more on eclectic appetizers would be my suggestion. read more

Went for lunch big mistake the chicken and waffles, chicken was burnt and the waffles tasted like frozen waffles. Also got the 1/2 pound of shrimp what a joke there was no old bay on it and tasted old. The worst was the jambalaya tasted like it was made from a box of rice a roni. Everything went well. We had one of the best restaurant meals in recent memory at Paladin Downtown. They offer an expansive menu of American Cuisine. We really enjoyed the cheesesteak egg rolls and fried deviled egg appetizers. Portion sizes were very generous. For lunch we had the Cuban sandwich, smothered chicken, nachos, and fried chicken and waffles. Again, huge portions. Everything was served hot , fresh, and delicious. The Cuban sandwich was one of the best I've ever had. Very authentic. The fried chicken was juicy, tender and crispy. The Belgian waffle was crispy and delicious. The half sized portion of Nachos rivals most full size portions elsewhere. Their sauces were excellent. Great coffee. And the restaurant is clean, comfortable and has a nice ambiance. The server was friendly and accommodating. Hats off to the Chef for designing an amazing menu. We were visiting Winchester from Herndon, VA and there will be a return visit. Entrées were in the $15 - $20 range (as I recall) and an excellent value for the price. We all ate so much that we skipped dinner that evening. I highly recommend the Paladin Downtown restaurant. A new, and much needed addition to Old Town. Prices are reasonable and plates are loaded. ( A bit too much for me. I took home in a to-go container). The place was hoppin' at 7pm on the Friday I patroned. The ambiance is fresh and up-to-date and contributed to the good, buzz-vibe. Next time I will ask to not sit left of the yellow steel stairs at the front entrance. The place was quite full and the host seated me at a two top. I was directed to hunch down and duck low under the stairs and then squueze in to the seating area. It was a bit of a comical specital as other middle aged people watch me with empathy score my seat. Tables were tight (side by side.) I almost thought to apologize for being late as the other tables were finishing out the entres. Servers was friendly and timely but they couldn't hep apologizing for bumping into everyone as they too ducked in and out...with food and beverage. Not the best feeling wondering if they will spill on customers. What would have been a standard entrance to the seating area was blocked by other two top tables with customers. A major fault of Paladin Down Town: there are only two bathrooms - as in two toilets. (Starbucks style.) If you're like me and need a restroom after you eat, you might best forget about this place. You'll find yourself in a line and a pretty miserable one at that. How did this happen? Why is this? I just don't see how a place can thrive if it doesn't provide adequate bathrooms. Luckily, I live near by. Next visit I'll know what to do. read more
