At that time, only parking was at Emerick Elementary School, but there's also closer parking at the community center lot. I actually opted to park in a residential neighborhood, as the street was closer to the event. Well, good thing is dogs are allowed. And I remember it was a "rain or shine" event, which was good, seeing as how it certainly was drizzling at the time -- and likely had rained well before then. A lot of food trucks at the event, in the Fireman's Field area. I beheld a Fords Fish Shack truck, one for a pizza I'd never heard of, and some kind of southern or soul food. No idea of anything, and kinda glad I saw the food truck for the "What the Heck BBQ" at last. This was my first time ordering something here, so at the food truck I just asked for popular choices, and went to knock 'em both out. Brisket and Pulled Pork topped the list, so I got a 2-meats plate with them both, and with flavored Mac and Cheese and Texas Baked BBQ Beans on the side. Packed three small cups of BBQ sauce, one regular and the others of the spicy variant. Ate out at one of the lone picnic tables near the entrance to the park. It was a nice afternoon and the rain had stopped. The brisket was good and so was the pulled pork. I liked the sides more than the main dish, for some reason. Mac and cheese was heavenly but prob had a lot of calories packed in. BBQ beans were spot on, and complimented the meat with their own BBQ sauces. All in all, a close home run and well done for what was essentially a to-go order -- yeah, planning was not outstanding. All in all, great food truck selling barbecue meat and foods. So just the thought of trying to shop and get all of these things in the current climate was mind numbing. La Prima Catering to the rescue! Luckily I am part of a group where local restaurants and food services are posting info and I caught wind that La Prima was taking last minute orders for Passover. The price was right, the meal sounded delicious, and the woman Karla even reached out to me after I asked a question on the message board. It was clear she was responsive. Let me tell you! They really killed it, to be honest. Everything we got was fantastic. The brisket was super tender and they included a TON of extra gravy like my mother had asked for. The matzo ball soup was quite good with tons of fresh hand shredded chicken pieces. The tzimmes (which I had never had before) was indulgent with a rich depth of sweetness that in itself deserves 5 stars. The meal also included charoset (I prefer mine with a little more wine flavor). And the flourless chocolate cake which was chocolate decadence in every way shape and form. It was rich, and chocolatey, and it was honestly a mousse like consistency which I didn't mind one bit. It was the perfect finish. Me and my fam did our first virtual Passover like many of us around the nation and it went really well. I might honestly lobby for us to just order from La Prima next year to save one of us the hassle. When we were deciding on a caterer for our daughter's wedding on Oct. 7, 2023, in Purcellville, all of us were excited about having Ford's cater the big event. We were so happy we did! The food was delicious; everything from the hors d'oeuvres (deviled eggs, mini crabcakes, lobster rolls, etc.) to the Ceaser salad, to the main courses (filet mignon and cod). Ford's also handled a full, premium bar, with excellent choices of wines and beers and hard alcohol. Ana and Tony are a pleasure to work with. We knew that everything would be executed perfectly.
