I grew up playing on this course and even got a hole-in-one on the 4th hole. I have lots of good memories but the most important memory is the chicken salad sandwiches from the club house. The previous kitchen staff who worked in the club house for, i'm assuming, 15+ years is no longer there and neither are the sandwiches. Course was in great shape. Greens rolled true and were in really good shape for a public course. Pace was a little slow at times but everyone was friendly and kept it moving...it was a holiday weekend so not bad for a packed course. My favorite part of the day was the beverage cart person. I believe her name was Marta. We saw her about four times and tipped generously. She took some pictures for us and was just a kind person .She also brought us some food towards the end of our round...we were famished, so it was perfect timing and went well beyond our expectations. Let me start my review by acknowledging that I'm not a golfer. I mini golf, I disk golf, and I even laugh at golfers, but that's about it; therefore, if I happen to mention a birdie... I'm talking about a bird, if I mention a Mulligan, it's probably a pub. Yes yes, I even wore jean shorts, tank top, and flip flops on my excursion here... not fully by choice, I wasn't informed we were going golfing. But there you have my intro regarding my unfamiliarity with golf and therefore this review is from a noobs point of view. On that note, this is public golf course that is part of the Palatine Park District. The prices were very reasonable, with different rates for different age groups, residencies, number of holes, etc. At 5ish PM, I with two others showed up to play 9 holes-- $12 per player, and they charged $5 for me spectating. That to me sounds very reasonable considering I live near the Medinah Country Club (HELLO EXPENSIVE). All the staff we spoke with were very kind and helpful from the man working in the clubhouse, to another whom we encountered riding around in a golf cart, to the drinks lady zipping around the course. Any questions we had, they answered clearly and willingly. The course itself is nice. I suppose I would recognize a mediocre course but I always appreciate the soft grass, the smell of nature, and the tranquility you find in all that land (excluding the occasional **#&$&%^@&%* you'll sometimes hear from angry golfers). The grounds seem well kempt and laid out perfectly fine, the course itself seems to be of a level that newer golfers can still enjoy themselves while more experienced golfers would still find some challenges-- large greens and relatively straightforward shots however one must still of course avoid the various typical obstacles. Out of 18 holes, there are four par 3's, ten par 4's, and four par 5's. There is much more information that I could present, but that is of course always the case. They have some loyalty programs it seems that could be beneficial (i.e. free round of 18 holes for your birthday month) and events for various groups (i.e. couples day). While I can't speak for what a serious golfer would prefer when it comes to a course, when it comes to the casual let's-do-something-different- today golfer (such as my party), this is a worthwhile option. read more

I don't mean to be "this guy".... but here is the honest truth, my friend and I booked a tee time for two, when we arrived we were told we were going to be golfing with a second random twosome. This in itself was not an issue, the problem was that this scenario affected our pace of play. The course ranger was constantly hounding us and telling us that the course was backed up. Our pace was not even that slow, we were on pace to finish 18 holes in about 4 hours. It made for a very unpleasant round. We have actually played a few places at the same pace or a bit slower and never an issue. Not happy with our experience and WE WILL NEVER BE GOLFING HERE AGAIN. I need to reiterate the fact that we weren't playing that slow.... not even close. read more

The course is in excellent condition. and challenging for normal golfers. Staff is attentive and friendly.

Worst experience. Starter was wonderful but your ranger on Wednesday 10/6/21 was rude and stalking. There was no reason for him to say at this rate you'll be here til midnight. We asked at beginning of tee off when next group was coming and they said 1 1/2 hours. Our t time was 1:10 and was done by 5:15pm. Normal for a foursome. read more

I rented the clubhouse for a baby shower and it was a wonderful experience. Dan Hotchkin was an absolute pleasure to work with and such a big help during the event. The space was very clean, up to date and beautiful inside. I will definitely keep this place on mind for my next rental. read more

Based on the condition of the course and the cost to play - I'd say it's a-ok. We saw the cart person twice in 18 holes (I wish more when it's hot out). The greens were in pretty good shape. If you've only been here a few times, you may find the way it's set up confusing. If you want to hit balls - visit the pro shop. You also pay for your round there. They'll give you a coin to put in a machine in a hut near the driving range. The food/drinks are in a different location too. I might be bitter because I technically live in Palatine but am unincorporated so I don't receive resident rates. :) I like golfing. I like this course but there are little things they could do to improve it. read more

Pretty nice muni course. Lots of doglegs. I felt like it was a difficult course, but its pretty early in the season, so maybe it was just me. It was too wet for carts so it was walk only... bummer, i know. I don't care to walk 18 holes, ever. But i did it. My dogs were definitely barking at the end of the round. No complaints really. They have a decent menu on the 19th and will throw beers and ice in bags for you to carry along. Not too shabby. Quite a trek from the city. If i didnt have a friend that lived a couple blocks away i wouldnt make the trek, but im glad i did. read more

Palatine Hills golf course is the best bang for the buck in the Northwest suburbs. The entire Golf Course is manicured with great detail, private club conditioned. Greens are in great shape and roll very true and consistent. If you haven't played this course already I highly recommend it. read more

I have booked tee times on two occasions. both times I dealt with unfriendliness and crass attitudes. I don't know what there problem is in the pro shop. I do not want to spend money at a course where they don't appreciate your business, and treat you like your inconveniencing them when you call to book a tee time. I will not go there again. I'd give Palatine Hills a 2-1/2 star rating if I could. The staff is friendly, rangers stay on course to keep pace of play, and $49 for green fees with cart (Spring rate) is pretty decent. However, course conditions were spotty at best. It's been a long winter so maybe it's too early in the season to pass judgment, but IMO it just wasn't worth the drive from the city. read more

Palatine Hills is a developed golf course with pretty nice greens. The cost is in line with other courses in the area and the pace isn't too bad even on a Friday afternoon. The 19th hold even has craft beer (Revolution). read more

Women beware... They don't like us. Every time I go there it's something. The ranger sat there calculating our speed of play and said we were playing slow by 21 mins when we actually were ahead. Under 1.5 hours after hole 6. He made us wait for better men to play through. Not surprising once I was with a new player and they told us to skip hole one. They're pretty arrogant for a park district course. Which brings me to another question why are there no female starters or Rangers? read more

Biggest ripoff in the northwest suburbs. They act like the course is Augusta National - it's not - it's just an overpriced average public course. $65 on the weekend. The head "pro" is the biggest jerk in golf. read more

I caddied today for a friend because I lost a bet and after 9 holes they asked me to come into the clubhouse to "check in." I was dressed in a painter's jumpsuit like the masters caddies wear which should be embarrassment enough, but I am a good sport and pay up on my bets. Anyway, they say they are going to only charge me $6 because it's only for 9 holes now and they have to have a paid receipt for all patrons on the course for insurance purposes which I completely understand, but as I flick my card on the counter (upset about the situation, not paying the $6), one of the employees/manager goes, "we don't need you to throw your card at him like that. We should just charge you the full price." I was paying the price they asked and "throwing the card" was not my intention, but I am a 32 year old man. It is not proper to speak to PAYING customers like I am a child. I was refunded and will not go back to play or caddie at this course. I live within walking distance, but deserve to be treated better. If I was a 50+ year old man, I believe I would've been treated differently. This is only one of a handful of unpleasant encounters I have had at this course. read more

I give this course a two star because the greens are nice, the upkeep looks good, the beer cart lady was pleasant and the clubhuse staff was courteous. Otherwise, I would have rated this a one star. The price was higher than most public courses in the area. That wouldn't have been so bad but the treatment we received was poor at best. Our foursome had two very novice golfers (we took a lot of swings). Normally that would be a problem because our pace was slow, but the place was empty. During our first nine holes we let one single player play through but didn't encounter another golfer behind us until the ninth hole. We planned to stop and get a drink after nine to let the group behind us play through. Just after finishing the ninth we were approached by one of the staff that told us we were playing too slow. He said this in a rude, demeaning, and condescending way. Whatever. While in the clubhouse another staff member approaches us again to ask usto speed up. He was more polite about it but Why? The place was practically empty, we weren't holding anyone up, we weren't abusing the course, and we weren't loud. I don't understand it. I have never received this kind of treatment at any other course. I recommend skipping this one. read more
