Great homemade ice cream with various flavors and sorbet options. We advised the staff working about our food allergies and they went above and beyond making sure our order was taken from containers in the back and safe for us. Plenty of outdoor seating. Inside seating is limited. Line moves quickly. An outdoor serving window will help move along the congestion inside. The mint chip was delicious. A must have while in Croton.

Expresso Chip (not even Expresso chip - it was mint chip. Wrong ingredient in the batch).. and you can't try the flavors before buying!!

This is the first ice cream shop I went to that does not allow you to try any flavors. What if you ordered a flavor you don't like? That's just a waste of money but they pocket that!! Any guess what.. I ordered expresso chip as a flavor and it was not even an expresso chip. It was mint chip!!! So they messed up in making the entire batch with the wrong ingredient. This is why trying flavors makes a big impact!!! Very disappointed in that. The scoops on the other hand are so tiny. Like they didn't have enough muscles to scoop a bigger one in the cup. Stop being so stingy and give our moneys worth of ice cream.

Wow is the only thing I can say! We were staying in Peekskill but my boyfriend has been working at the schools right around the corner from this place. I told him I wanted ice cream before going back to the hotel and he told me about this place. It was a cute area with picnic tables outside and tables inside. The woman that helped us was super friendly and told us about the flavors. I decided to go with the peach ice cream and my boyfriend went with the blueberry. We both agreed that this was the best ice cream we have ever had!! Highly recommend this place!!

The Blue Pig was a fabulous choice. It is located in a perfect location, has a few indoor seats, and has plenty of outdoor seating. The shop is not large, but it is busy. It has very nice decor and a very friendly, hard working, staff. I ordered the Sweet Coffee and Cream Sundae (coffee ice cream, with real maple syrup, toasted walnuts, and whipped cream) and it was INCREDIBLE. Everyone of those ingredients worked so well together, was so smooth, and thoroughly enjoyed. Here's one thing that I experienced that no other ice cream shop incorporates...... for their dine-in customers, The Blue Pig gives you metal spoons, in order to enjoy your selection. After you're done, they have small metal buckets where you can discard your spoon. You will really enjoy this ice cream shop and they will give you a memorable experience.

Amazing ice cream! Staff were so friendly and the menu was so versatile! Definitely something for everyone! Sooo family friendly and accommodating too!! A must try!

Mmmm...ice cream. So many interesting flavors to chose from, but I've been hearing about the Aztec hot chocolate flavor for a while. So, I had a scoop of that with the brownie batter. The "hot chocolate" is a dark chocolate ice cream with a kick...right up my alley. The spiciness that sneaks up after the lovely sweet chocolate is just right. Flavor-wise, the brownie batter flavor paled in comparison and was a vanilla ice cream base. Still very good, though! Flavors change weekly (I think), so it's worth it to keep going back...which I plan to do next time I'm in the area.

AMBIENCE: A-DORE-able. Cute inside and out. 5-stars. ICE CREAM QUALITY: 3 stars. Lower butterfat than true premium. FLAVORS: good selection. "SCOOP" size- 3 stars. Teeny, tiny "scoops". Unfortunately, for nearly 8 dollars for a Sunday, I was expecting more. The two scoops barely filled a standard size cup. TOPPINGS: 5-stars for scratch-made toppings. Lose a star for the minuscule amounts they tip your treat with. I had to dig around to find the toppings. In my case, salted caramel... Where was it? And hot fudge. Less than 2 tablespoons of "sauces" for the entire sundae. The blue pig does have longevity: it's been there since the days that I lived in Croton-on-Hudson end the owners managed to keep up the cute façade. What has changed is a little bit of potential greed: the portion size are way too small for the price, so they lose stars on value. Here's a shot of my two scoop customizable Sundae. TIP for the owners: just charge eight bucks and give me some ice cream and toppings. Thank you for having reusable silverware on hand and eco-friendly cups.

There was a great selection of dairy and gluten-free flavors available. I also saw that they had a gluten and dairy-free cone option which is almost impossible to find a local ice cream shops. I don't even think large chain ice cream stores have this so that was a great find. I ordered the dairy-free mint chocolate chip ice cream with the gluten-free cone. They also had outdoor seating which was great for us after a long day of walking around in the hot sun. Overall, it was a really good experience. I would really love to come here again sometime soon.

Yes - they do. I've charged my ice cream there before. :)

Disclaimer: I always give my stars rating based on the type of restaurant, so I rate a Michelin…read morestar differently than a great hang place. We were heading up to Croton-on-Hudson for a show and none of the restaurant options were looking appealing. We wanted something with a view of the water since it was the first truly Spring weather day we'd had this season. I saw that the rating for this place wasn't spectacular, but loved the photos and decided to read recent ratings, and we decided, even if the food is "meh" at least we'll be outside by the water. The Boathouse did not disappoint. The host who seated us was friendly and enthusiastic. Our server was everything you want in a server: Friendly, Confident in making suggestions, Attentive without being pushy or annoying, and just an honestly great man who was so fun to chat with. We both just had mains: Husband had the seafood gumbo. Wow! So packed with flavor, and yes, the spice hit you on the back end, but SO yummy. Packed with seafood and sausage, rice that wasn't gummy, and I am sorry Tom Colicchio, the okra was delicious! The "slime" that we all fear had more of a velvety texture that was not off-putting at all, and the flavor was really unique and enjoyable. i had the Shrimp Luciano. Five jumbo shrimp without a hint of vein or shell, sautéed in an egg batter that crisped at the edges. The sauce...omg....so flavorful. I find so often that chefs add too much of spice and herb but not here. It was well balanced and so yummy. If I wasn't in public, I would have licked the plate clean! Oh, and it came with green beans, one of my least favorite vegetables because again, I find so many just over cook and over season. This were lightly sautéed so they had a fresh from the garden taste and a perfect snap to them. Garlic mashed potatoes...made with red bliss...had a sweet element, not sugary, but there was a flavor were just couldn't identify....maybe a hit a nutmeg? Regardless, they were heavenly. Then we made the decision to share a slice of the crème brûlée cheesecake. We didn't have room, but our "neighbors" at the next table said we had to try it...so we did. WOW! This was not your typical heavy overly sweet cheesecake. It was light, had specks of vanilla, a very thin lovely crust and the taste....sooooooo good. The wine by the glass choices were great: $12 for a wonderful glass of Albariño?? It was so crips and light and perfect with my meal. Husband had an IPA...we think it was called Maine Lunch and it was also delightful. I will note: the tables are NOT on the dock. They are a ways back but the water view surrounds you. I saw some tables set up right by the dock edge near the water and apparently they have a bar and music there once it gets warm. If it wasn't a 2 hour in traffic drive, this would be our new regular haunt. For now, we will have to make excuses to go up this way!

I love that this is an actual filling station, still with garage doors. You can eat inside or outside - doors were open for the nice weather but I'm sure the place is heated in the winter. Fun sign out front. The very friendly lady at the counter answered all our question and we chatted about the restaurant as we were deciding what to order. All 5 stars so far. So for burgers, I fully admit I'm a bit of a snob and hard to please. I was heartened that these are Pat LaFrieda style burgers: brisket, hanger steak, short rib, not chuck. So I gave it my best shot and ordered a TFS burger (caramelized onion, mushrooms, bacon) with two cheeses, cooked rare, plus a side of onion rings. As others have said here, my "rare" burger came out medium, so I'm sure glad I didn't leave it as the default medium. The burger was a little too salty but otherwise solid and full of flavor like good meats and toppings ought to be. The onion rings were not all that great - solid breading that drowns out the onion, and you don't get a lot for $8 (plus dipping sauces cost extra, unless you just take a ketchup or mustard packet). Verdict: I like this restaurant, but it's not enough to draw me back here or any other Filling Stations (all in authentic garages) without two changes: * When providing high quality meats, please cook burgers thick instead of thin so that they can come out actually rare for the best taste. * There were no prices in the liquor menu. I'm not even going to try ordering a beer (or other) if you don't tell me the cost up front.
