This was a nice gem I stumbled across. It had a steady stream of people in and out. The good and ice cream are DELICIOUS!

Busy busy busy! Tacos are flavorful. Rice is like a fideo meets rice. I'd rather have one or the other. Beans are refried beans with regular beans stirred together.

Their food is decent, but their homemade ice creams and frozen treats are where it's at! They have a wide variety of frozen treats including: ice cream, sundaes, ice cream bars, raspados ( Mexican snow cones) both water & milk based, & shaved ice. There are so many flavors to choose from! You can go with the basics; vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, cherry, Oreo, etc or you can mix it up and try something unique you probably won't find anywhere else. Tequila, cucumber, guava, egg-nog, pine-nut, or my absolute favorite; mangonada- Mango ice cream with chamoy sauce and tajin spice sprinkled on top. A perfect combination of salty, sweet, and spicy that has yet to be matched anywhere else. I absolutely love this place. The food is pretty basic 3.5 stars (Love the tacos though) The menu is simple & offers all the items you'd expect; street tacos, burritos, enchiladas, gorditas, as well as a few specialty items like Espiropapa, a spiral fried potato and elote; a cup of corn topped with mayo, butter, & chili powder. If you haven't tried elote & like roasted ears of corn at the fair (covered in butter & spices of course) then you'll probably like this. Originally I was kind of put off by the thought of mayo on corn, but I tried it anyway & really enjoyed it. Love their flavored waters too. $1.50 tacos on Tuesdays! 2 tasty tacos & some ice cream for around $5, YAASS! Additional Positives- Both indoor & outdoor seating available -they have a nice patio out front. A super kind, friendly, & helpful staff. Which sadly today, seems kinda rare.

    Tacos al carbon and Barbacoa

This is a nice, little, neighborhood place where you can find traditional Mexican fare and follow it up a wide variety of frozen treats. You can get tacos, sopes, tostadas, burritos, and gorditas with the meat of your choice or you can order specific entrees. Entrees come with rice and beans. I ordered tacos a la carte; two al carbon, and two barbacoa. My wife ordered gorditas al carbon. I liked both meats, finding both to be quite flavorful. In the long run I preferred the al carbon and its spiciness although had I ordered only the barbacoa I would have been satisfied. On another note, some people don't like getting the rice and beans as part of a meal and I can understand that in some cases especially when the beans come already a dry mass. I found the both at Paleteria la Reyna to be delicious. The rice was nicely cooked and still had some of the broth it was cooked in. The beans weren't dry as served and remained nice for quite a long time. They got a little on the dry side much later on, but hey, they're beans. Now dessert. If you don't have something specific in mind ahead of time just ask at the counter. There are too many options to describe here, but if you like fruit flavors you will discover you're in heaven. I love the piña colada. I have a few more I really want to try. I'll be back.

Great place with awesome employees! I stopped by in the afternoon and it wasn't too busy, nice inside of restaurant with plenty of seating. Everything looked SO delicious. I had tacos (2 al pastor & barbacoa) they were awesome! And corn in a cup!!! Yes! It's amazing. I had no room left so I bought some popsicles on the way out, I love them! Will return to try the ice cream! Sounds amazing. It's so nice to have some of these classics, going almost 20 years strong.

This is the most authentic place I have been to for Mexican food! Here in Wichita at least! That says a lot since I am a Cali girl

We had the Bundt cakes sundae and brownie sundae. Delicious as always! We enjoyed our ice cream while we watched the madhouse around us. Props to the staff for being cool and getting the crowd set up. There was a huge line when we left. The patrons we're ordering food, too, so the place started smelling of French fries and burgers. Yum!

First ,…read morewhen at the counter waiting to order- noticed French fries scattered on the kitchen floor, as if they hadn't cleaned the kitchen floor all day. I mean customers could notice the fries on the floor, why couldn't the staff at 2223 W 21st N? Second, the staff was extremely rude. When I ordered, the lady didn't even look at me and was scrolling on her phone. Off handedly asked if there was anything else. It took 15 minutes to get my order. After 10 minutes of waiting, I took my receipt to the counter along with my friend 's who was in a wheelchair. I showed them her receipt and said she's been waiting 30 minutes. I got " We've called that number 5 times." I managed to politely say " No you have not called it at all. We are in the back with 5 other people for a Bible study meeting and none of us heard it and it's quiet in here." A tray with her order was literally slammed down on the counter in front of me and the staff lady said again " We've called her number 5 times." I repeated again 6 people and quiet in here. You never called it. She is in a wheelchair and needs help so all 6 of us were listening intently." At least they got her order right. Mine, they gave me an onion pepper jack burger when I ordered a bacon cheeseburger. I politely went back to the counter with the unopened burger and said i ordered a bacon cheeseburger and showed my receipt. The same lady went over to the kid who was by the French Fry maker. He said " She wants another? Oh bacon cheeseburger." I watched as he grabbed a hamburger patty from that counter and piled lettuce on it, no cheese and one slice of bacon. The hamburger patty itself was cold. I also asked for a cookie dough milkshake. A melted vanilla shake was given to me instead. I mean melted as if it had been sitting in the sun for 5 minutes melted. As I was turning to go back to my friends, the manager showed up and he leaned over my shoulder and loudly asked if there was a problem. When I tried to respond, he yelled in my face " Would you want free fries?" I wanted to point out the old dirty fries on the kitchen floor. I said politely, " No I do not want free fries. I wanted what I had ordered and paid for." Showed him my receipt then I went back to my friends. I do not like leaving bad reviews for any business . I do love Braum's but I am never going back to 2223 W 21st N in Wichita, Ks. Visit the one on Seneca st- never a problem and always clean. Or any other Braum's in Wichita just don't waste your time at the 2223 W 21st N Braum's in Wichita , Ks. Again I don't like to leave bad reviews for any business, but after the staff lady lied about calling my friend's order 5 times when my friend was in a wheelchair and 5 of us listening intently and never heard it, then my friend's tray slammed on the counter and then how they treated me with my order- getting rude about me asking politely for the bacon cheeseburger I ordered- and getting a cold hamburger patty with only lettuce and not even cheese- acting like I had no right to ask for what I spent money on, the kid who put my hamburger together was not wearing food handler's gloves and the old French fries all over the kitchen floor- don't waste your time or health. I mentioned my friend in the wheelchair and I were with 5 other people and we were having a study group meeting - and this is how we were treated - very rudely and we weren't bothering anybody about anything. They treated us differently because she was handicapped and because we said we were with our Bible study group and that my friend's number was never called. Avoid 2223 W 21st St N Braum's in Wichita Ks. All other Braum's locations in Wichita are clean and friendly staff , food orders taken correctly and made exactly and hot and fresh! My personal favorite location makes awesome hot, fresh food in a very clean restaurant!
