I stayed here during TrailCon 2026 and, overall, had a really good experience. From the very beginning, the communication was excellent. The booking process was easy, the staff was friendly and responsive, and all of the follow-up emails and confirmations made everything feel well organized. The location was also fantastic and made it easy to get around during the event. There were only a couple of minor downsides. The biggest one was the lack of air conditioning in the main living area. There was a portable A/C unit in the bedroom, which helped while sleeping, but it was fairly loud. During the day, the living room stayed quite warm until the evening cooled things off. I ended up leaving the windows and patio door open most of the time for airflow. I also couldn't quite figure out how to properly lock or secure the patio door when it was closed. It may have just been user error, but some simple instructions would have been helpful. One other note, while not really the property's fault. They recommended a shuttle service from the Reno airport. Booking online was easy enough ($95 from RNO), but after receiving my confirmation email I tried calling, texting, and even reaching out via WhatsApp several times with a couple of questions and never received a response. Thankfully, the shuttle did show up (about 10 minutes late), and everything worked out. Other than those few things, I really enjoyed my stay and would absolutely stay here again. Having a full kitchen was a nice bonus, and next time I'd probably arrange for a grocery delivery instead of eating out for every meal. It would save a fair bit of money, especially if you're staying for a conference or event. read more

Well worth the visit even if you don't ski. $50.00 for ski lifts/Gondola trip up mountains to visit. A little bit more if you're skiing. Several slopes still open but none is novice. End of season and not enough snow anymore. Fantastic staff here. Their guidance on what to observe where and when to show how warm and friendly they all have been really makes this day complete. The 1960's Olympics museum is a must. I had no idea this was here and it's been not only a fun history lesson but neat to be so close to the elements, buildings, photos, stories and land where the first western USA Olympics took place. What a great experience. Gondola patrons lovely. Lift just to left of the slopes much busier and end of day skiers can be a bit nasty. If you're looking for a magical winter experience in South Lake Tahoe, Palisades absolutely delivers. We went for the night tubing, and it was hands down one of the highlights of our trip. The atmosphere alone is worth it--everything is lit up, the snow sparkles under the lights, and there's this perfect mix of excitement and cozy winter vibes. The tubing itself was so much fun--fast, smooth runs and well-organized, so you spend more time enjoying it and less time waiting. What really surprised me, though, was how dreamy the whole village felt. The shops were charming and beautifully set up, almost like walking through a winter postcard. It's the kind of place where you just want to wander, take your time, and soak it all in. And I have to mention the ramen--because wow. After being out in the cold, a hot bowl of ramen was exactly what we needed, and it did not disappoint. Rich, flavorful, and super comforting. It honestly elevated the whole experience. Between the fun activities, the cozy and aesthetic shopping area, and the great food, this place is such a vibe. Tuesday trip to Palisades was perfect. Thank you to Craig who gave me helpful information as this was my first time boarding here. The map is pretty intimidating and complex but Craig broke it down to the best runs for my level and it worked out perfectly. I got to Palisades around 8am and found Craig sweeping and I asked him for help and he was kind enough to give it. Thanks Craig! Overall such a well maintained resort. I heard other resorts around tahoe are in worse conditions but the snow was nice here. The main Golf Coast gondola wait times were less than 2 minutes and the run lifts had no wait time. The dudes and gals supervising the lifts were very friendly and gave me tips on what I could do better. Im very thankful they provided a positive experience and didn't make me feel inferior learning. I love it here and I also got a good online deal for a 4 pack on Lift tickets at a discounted price. Will be back before the snow melts! read more

Reserved parking on the weekends just requires a bit of planning on your part. IF possible...come during the week and AVOID WEEKENDS. You get 2x or 3x mileage on a weekday. read more

7/16/2025 - Olympic Valley We were pleasantly surprised to learn that dogs are allowed on the tram--free of charge! We purchased two tickets for ourselves (initially asked for senior pricing, but found out it's only available for those 70 and older). The cost was $39 each for a weekday ride (Monday-Thursday); it's $49 per person on weekends (Friday-Sunday). With our tickets, we were each given a $5.00 voucher valid at High Camp BBQ, High Camp Marketplace, Rocker, SunBowl, or Little Bear Cafe. We had arrived so that we had to wait only a few minutes for the next tram (they run every 20 minutes). The tram was not crowded, so it was a pleasant ride, and the tram operator shared stories and information about the tram and surrounding area. The 10-minute ride covers about 1.5 miles, climbing from an elevation of 6,200 feet to 8,200 feet. It was smooth and comfortable, with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. When we got to the top it was lunch time, so we decided to use our $5.00 voucher at the High Camp BBQ. Unfortunately, the barbecue was not working, so we were limited in our menu choices. Once we got our food, finding a shaded table was an issue. A few of the tables had umbrellas, but only a few. The rest were in full sun, and it was a hot day. Fortunately, a lovely gentleman offered to share his shaded table with us. Shame on management for not having more shade available on hot days. We had been to Palisades (when it was Squaw Valley) during summer once before, and we had enjoyed a lovely time at the swimming pool and spa, enjoying cool cocktails as we relaxed. Alas, the swimming pool and spa are not operating this year. Quite a disappointment. So we took a short hike on one of the trails, and admired the view of Lake Tahoe. We returned to the tram, and walked downstairs to the Olympic Museum, but there really was not that much to see. Having been to the Olympic Museum in Park City, I suppose I was expecting something more extensive. We rode the now-crowded tram back down to the Village, but there wasn't much going on. None of the shops caught our interest, and overall the area felt a bit lifeless. read more

First time to Palisades in decades. We wanted a change from primarily skiing Mammoth for the last 15 years. Our experience on the slope was affected by the long stretch since the last snow. A good portion of the mountain was moguled out and too icy for it to be enjoyable. But we were surprised how good the coverage was. Palisades is more suited for advanced skiers. I can see how awesome skiing would be after a good dump. Oh, you can also access the Alpine Meadows side by taking the Base to Base tram. Basically you can ski two resorts in one day. For one of the days, we skied Alpine in the morning and Palisades in the afternoon. The dining was meh. The mid mountain cafeteria had pretty standard ski report fare. It was suprising how limited the options were at the base. There is a time restriction on when you can get discounts with your Ikon pass, depending on where you're eating. For free parking, you need to make reservations for weekends and holidays starting the Tuesday of the week. Or you can pay $30 per day. The walk from the lot to the lift isn't bad. It's better than Mammoth. read more

Eh. Over the years, this place has gone from being my go to, to being my last resort (pardon the pun). We stayed here about once a year or two now a days. The main lodge is still really nice to sit in, but the rooms are in need of a renovation and the prices for vallet are fine- if I'm at Disneyland's grand CA, or Chicago for Christmas... but I'm a local nor cal girl and I know the prices for parking are stupid hella high here just bc they can. I choose to stay at other resorts in the area mostly bc of two things. The parkings free at way nicer and newly renovated resorts and hotels on the greater Tahoe area and two, my kids are finally skiing on levels where I can take them anywhere and they'll be fine, so I don't need to pay the extra cash to stay at certain ski parks. I think they should lower their prices on the rooms, dining options and vallet- OR... raise the value by updating the rooms bc they're not any better than the cheap ones in the area and the only thing I liked on this stay was the lodge and that's not enough to bring me back. I'll leave3 stars, but I was teetering on 2. It's not about the money, it's about leaving feeling a tad ripped off. read more

Took a beginner ski lesson since I have never been skiing before, and it was absolutely the best decision. I noticed kids' lessons happening at the same time and was a bit worried I might be grouped with children, but thankfully they have separate adult lessons. My instructor, Tim, was phenomenal. Group lessons are split into smaller groups, and I ended up learning alongside my partner and another woman who brought great energy to the experience. I struggled at times, but Tim really encouraged and pushed us in a supportive way. By the end of the lesson, I was comfortably skiing down a green run, which felt like a huge accomplishment. My only wish is that we had more time after the lesson before the lifts closed. Since we booked an afternoon lesson, we ran out of time to try other slopes. I would definitely book a morning lesson next time. The village has pretty much everything you might need, though it is on the pricey side, so plan accordingly. The ski school area is separate, and rentals can be picked up away from the main crowds, which saved a lot of time and made the whole experience much smoother. read more

The parking lot here is enormous and it's pretty challenging to find the level two car charging stations for EVs(electric vehicles). They are here, although at least one of them was out of order when I finally found these it's the same company that operates chargers at Northstar. Find em on a building with the butterfly shaped roof. and it's right next to the "far east express." read more

This place seems quite old and rundown. Location is great though. Staff friendly. No elevator , just some tight stairwell and no bus boy or other service to bring heavy luggage up or down the stairs. The room was cold and with thermostat not working. The faucet for the shower hot tub combo do not work properly: spray water sideways and the option to fill the tub was not working. Internet worked but with lots of dropped connections. Restaurant did not seem to be open every night. Overall, not that great at all considering the high price per night. No wonder they have open rooms even in the weekend. The ski rental shop next door is small but the options and the staff was good. read more

Not just for winter Palisades has something for everyone year round. We stopped by on a Monday in June. The Aerial tram runs every 20 minutes and is a steal at $39 for adults compared to $109 in South Lake. 8200 feet and lots of hiking trails, lawn games and roller rink during the summer. Here is what skiing at Palisades is like. Get on all your ski gear and grab a few hundred dollars and some matches. Go outside and stand in your driveway. And stand there. And stand there. And stand there. Then light your cash on fire. Then when it snows, go back inside, because they shut down all the lifts and runs for "safety" when it snows. A little advance planning could prevent this because, you know, there's stuff like Doppler radar that can actually tell you in advance when it's going to snow. But alas, it's time to wait outside in line again. So go wait in your driveway to simulate the lift lines. And keep waiting for 90 minutes, or 120 minutes, or more depending on how miserable the Palisades Tahoe owners decide you should be so they can make their appropriate private equity returns. Sell more passes, cut staff, close when it snows, and make sure the parking and driving situation is a nightmare. read more

This will forever be Squaw Valley to me. It's the first time I've been back since Squaw and Alpine were purchased and merged. I was pleased at what I saw, how organized everything was from the rentals to food to lift lines... even parking was easy. This was also only my 2nd time back on skis since ACL reconstruction so I was very careful of how and where I was skiing. The lift lines were pretty fast. I don't think I waited more than 10 minutes in any lift line. The first gondola was a little long but once on the mountain, it was fine. Even the base to base gondola was fast and convenient. We went to both areas of the mountain. Knowing i needed to take it easier in the afternoon, we did the Squaw side first and ended with Alpine. Great decision as I could get the harder runs in in the AM and the easier runs in the PM. All in all, it was a fun day with my family. For lunch, we went to the noodle place upstairs in the village. Decent size and flavor. Just ok though. The day is l so expensive though. Between lift tickets, rentals and food, it's more than $1k for a family to come to this mega resort. read more

Everything in my review of 5/6/19 is the same in content and passion with the following changes: Day Lift Passes are no longer $100 but $279 Day Pass for the Tram to High Camp is no longer $50 but $75 Ski/Board equipment is something you need to go and make a determination as it goes by the type of equipment you get, the time you have it, etc. Dining facilities at Base Camp same but ALWAY busy Drive Up Trucks and Vans available for instant waxing, small gear (sunglasses, lip balm and the like) Bottom Line- IF you go to Palisades Tahoe to ski, and you are not privileged to the Ikon Pass or Military Discounts be prepared to spend $500 PER DAY inclusive of ski/boarding, equipment rental, food and beverage.. So far; parking is free. I won't be surprised if my next visit impounds a day parking fee. BUT I STILL LOVE YOU SQUAV VALLEY, PALISDAES TAHOE read more

RIP to the Keep Squaw True movement! I've been coming to Palisades Tahoe (Squallywood) for about 13 consecutive years. Personally, my favorite of the two mountains is Alpine Meadows--there's always been less tourism here, and I really enjoy the tree runs. Both Olympic Valley and Alpine Meadows have some of the best, if not the best, lift-serviced terrain in all of Tahoe. Hard to admit that, considering I grew up riding Heavenly and Sierra-at-Tahoe my whole childhood with my family from South Lake. That said, I do think the resort was better before the Alterra takeover. But in an era of corporate takeovers and monopolies that refuse to get broken up (shoutout to Vail and Alterra), these are the cards we've been dealt. The liftees here are usually cool--unless you lent your season pass to a friend and got the one trying to cash in on Alterra's bonus for catching pass sharers. So, you know... be mindful. Parking now requires a reservation--sometimes you can snag a free spot, sometimes you have to pay. Unfortunately, the days of free parking are over, and LT local transit is unreliable. Best bet? Carpool, so only one person has to pay the piper. read more

We have ikon pass. Whenever we go snowboarding, we will stay in the village. We love the whole village vibe. Enjoyed the all the restaurants. Every time we went, we would stay on different side to get different views. This time, we stayed on the 3rd floor with the best balcony view . The unit is so spacious, we had 3 bedrooms this time. This resort has really gone downhill in the last few years. The traffic, parking, prices, customer service, food, and lift operations are all terrible. They routinely oversell the resort, so the traffic and parking are horrible on the weekends. In the past I could get into the resort quickly and find parking easily. Now you have to wait in long lines, use a terrible online reservation system, and pay $30.00 a day for parking if you're a solo skier. During my last visit, I decided to try the park and ride option instead of the lot. I parked in Truckee at 7:45 a.m., waited outside in 14 degree weather, and didn't see a bus until 9:45 a.m. The bus driver lied and said he was late because of all the traffic in and out of Palisades resort. I found out later, he was just two hours late for work that day. After another 45 minutes on the bus, I arrived at Palisades and found 45 minute lift lines (still) at the gondola and funitel. The lift operators were late starting snow removal, so one lift, Wa She Shu, didn't open until well after 11:00 a.m. It didn't seem like they were understaffed because there were 4-5 employees standing around, at the bottom of Wa She Shu, socializing and not working. By this time I was getting hungry so I stopped for an early lunch. I tried Oh! Burger but the electronic menu behind the counter wasn't working. I asked an employee about the menu, but she barely spoke any English and just motioned toward another cashier. I went to Bluebird Chicken instead, waited as an employee struggled to ring up my overpriced food, and then needed help from a manager. When I got my food, it was over cooked and dried out. Like it had been sitting under a warmer for a long time. After eating my heat lamp chicken, I went back to We She Shu and found it was finally open. However, the turnstiles weren't working, so everyone had to duck and squeeze past them. The lift operators were playing really loud annoying death metal music on their radio, and some of the same employees were still just standing around chatting not working. After skiing for a while, my pole strap got stuck to the back of a Wa She Shu chair. As I neared the top, I started waving my arms and yelling at the lift operator to stop the lift. He wasn't paying attention, so I had to de-chair without my pole. I nearly crashed in the process. I kept yelling at the lift operator and he finally woke up and came out of his booth. Then, instead of stopping the lift like I asked, he started chasing the chair. I couldn't believe it, because the chair was way out of reach and moving too fast. I wouldn't be surprised if he was stoned. I skied down to the bottom of the left to get my pole and guess who I saw? Some of the very same employees I noticed standing around socializing earlier in the day. They'd been there for hours just hanging out and chatting with their co-workers. No wonder the lifts don't open on time. It was the worst and most frustrating skiing experience I've ever had. There are better places to spend your ski dollars than Palisades. read more

Highly recommend. From the time we checked in at the front desk. We were assisted by security (Thanks Ron!). He kindly introduced us to Momo in Courtesy services! Busy day for them once the storm cleared. She was very accommodating and she truly cared about safety as she drove us and our 3 children to our tubing session, plus another gentleman to his vehicle. All the staff pushing, flinging, and spinning us down the hill, special shout out to Jake & the guys in the tubing office. Great customer service and good vibes all around. I bought a pass for the 2024/2025 and before I skied one day on it Palisades canceled the pass. I called their customer service multiple times and was hung up on. I was never given a refund just sent letters about regarding their code of conduct. As I was never on any Ikon or Palisades mountain the entire season, it was impossible to conduct myself in any way at all. Their customer service is pathetic. I f you're coming to Tahoe to ski you might consider skiing at one of the many non-giant corporate entities around the lake. There's over 15 places to ski around the region. Absolutely my favorite ski resort in CA. This is our second year here in the summertime and both years, the weather was perfect. You could not have a more beautiful setting in this gorgeous valley, everything is green and beautiful. The village is like a little French Village in the Alps that has different restaurants and a Starbucks of course. Cost wise we stayed at an Airbnb condo on the premises, we've never stayed in a room at the actually resort. When i was a kid i used to snowboard here when it was called Squaw Valley (the name got cancelled during the dark days of America when the insane took over). Take the gondola to the top anytime of the year, the kids get to join you for free. We had a snowball fight at the top in the middle of July. It was my sons favorite thing we did that week. We cannot wait to come back next year! read more

I don't understand the hype of this place at all. What little communication that occurs is poor and inaccurate. We were here 4 days and MAYBE 30% of the mountain ever made it open. And areas that opened closed quickly or were unreachable because of lift "maintenance" issues with no estimated time of completion. The base to base never opened and the shuttle to Alpine didn't run so basically there were 3 lifts open on a Friday leading to a mass exodus of people around 12:30. It snowed (surprise it's a ski resort!!!) and they couldn't get anything open on the upper mountain and what was open was not safe. I've never seen this many people brought down by ski patrol ever. The app is inaccurate and we were told the upper mountain was now open by the lifties. Surprise when everyone skis to the funitel and it's on a maintenance hold indefinitely (as of this writing it's been over two hours and still not open). Yesterday was worse. Not sure why they can't seem to get this mountain open. We won't be back. Why spend $4000 to wait in 20+ min lift lines to all the same 3 runs as everyone else. read more

I loved the venue change as it was much more spacious. And yes, the downfall is the one-lane road in and out of the Palisades is an annoyance but what do you expect when 7k people shuffle in for awesome live music. I traveled to the Palisades for my first time skiing. As a first-timer, I found the mountain pretty overwhelming, but I found the staff extremely friendly. I also thought that fellow skiers and snowboarders were very friendly, every time I ate it, people were very friendly and helped me up. I never felt outcasted for being bad. I started with a lesson in the am. I would show up an hour early before the lesson. Ed was my instructor, he was very informative and cultivated a friendly, welcoming class. The lesson was very enjoyable and gave me a good general understanding of how to get around the mountain. The lesson and the add-ons to be worth the price. After the ski day, it was fun, drinks were expensive, so plan accordingly. If you put in some time to plan a detailed trip, you will have a wonderful time. read more

Heeeeeey it happens. But I'm back. Probably because I've been here a few times. Also, probably not my last. Crazy terrain which, like one would expect, changes with the weather. This last time that I went, the Base to Base Gondola connection Palisades Tahoe to Palisades Tahoe "Alpine" was running so I took it for a run. Time in the gondola carriage, I was told, was about 16 minutes from terminal to terminal. Luckily, there is enough to look at along the way. And a few stops. Was thinking about bringing a friend or two along and then looked at the single ticket costs. This (MLK) weekend, it'd set me back a few dollars. Haven't really had any run-ins with staff and the turn-style entrances after scanning your pass it makes the less personal that it has ever been. The only close interactions you may have are when the lifties hold the chairs from whacking in to the backs of your legs. Take the Base to Base gondola for kicks. It's finally operational and the view from above is tough to beat. The KT Base Bar seems to be a gathering point mid-mountain but I'm not sure I'm ever going to get food there on a regular basis. Bring friends so you can park in the carpool area. Also, bring a friend with an Ikon Pass (https://www.ikonpass.com/) to get whatever discount you can get. I'd say get your own Ikon pass but they've stopping selling them and the Palisades only season pass is even more costly than the Ikon is. read more

We have had Ikon passes for over a decade and I am ready to drop them. We have seen continued increases in pass prices while the service and customer experience has declined. We had poor experiences at both Mammoth and Palisades this year. We also purchased an Indy passes this year and have had much better experiences at both Bear Valley and Dodge Ridge. Alterra has driven substantial increases in cost while simultaneously decreasing value. read more

Palisades is undoubtedly a beautiful area. Today was the first time in aegis I've been here when there was a huge crowd. Plenty of vendors and information booths. I simply deplore the name Palisades. Why can't we call it Olympic Valley? Palisades sounds like corporate, timeshare organization. Palisades says nothing about the Olympic history. Although I've been here at least two dozen times, today is the first time I've ever ridden the enormous gondola to the top. It's a very nice ride and the view at the top is beautiful. But the concession services at the top are barely two star. I paid almost $6 for a diet Coke. read more

My brother, an employee, passed at this resort. They offered our family "free skiing for life" as reparations. I called the local OSHA and police departments. Both were enraged that Palisades never filed a single report with either of them. Palisades also conducted no internal investigations, despite my request. Every attorney I called emphasized that there was clear moral liability on the part of Palisades. Turns out they have had multiple staff deaths in this very same parking lot due to excessive drinking, no regulations, and the staff having no sense of urgency or responsibility. The staff watched my brother fall straight onto the asphalt and just let him take off on his bike without a word or second thought. His supervisors watched him get beaten by someone having a mental break, and once again did nothing. The staff are coke-out 24-year-olds with about as much emergency response training as a regular babysitter, but with less sense of urgency than one. New powder view from aerial tram. It's been a record year for snow fall. Beautiful mountain. The people running the mountain maintenance and operations are clowns. We got the Ikon pass this year for the family. Each time snow has fallen this season, this mountain has been unable to open their gondola, funicular and/or lifts. We waited in unmoving lines (with hundreds of other people also expecting the pow ride of their lives) for HOURS in the cold while the resorts' operations team continued to struggle and not open the lifts. That's just a few days we've spent here. We have also had the kids drink hot chocolate for hours just to learn the slopes would NEVER open for the day. The operations team think it's funny to not update their website or app with news of not opening at all for the day. Parking is not well managed. We got stuck on the road for 3 hours (no joke, stuck between the freeway exit and the ski resort) because the parking lots were catastrophically backed up. No one communicated any news in the app, in website or in road. Snow is not new to ski slopes. Snow is not new to these mountains. Other ski resorts in the Tahoe area are able to open. North Star, Heavenly, etc. We've had annual passes to other mountains and never experienced this type of operational melt down elsewhere. I'll not complain about how the slopes are not terrific for snowboarders. The rest of my family ski so the uphills after downhills kill me but not folks with poles. Did we make the right choice on buying annual passes to Palisades? Nope. Is this a good resort? Nope. read more

Here are the positives. The staff was lovely and everyone we encountered were helpful and professional. The issues. Exits and entrances from the parking garage are not clear and we wasted time figuring out how to get back into our building. Our room was super tight and the furniture is dated with sharp corners, broken blinds, and waisted space including a portable air conditioner that took up walking space, an extended mante that I bruised my arm on trying to avoid the air conditioner. Really no place to put out a suitcase for those who do not want to use the closets. That's why we put our suitcases on the couch, where I ended up bumping into the coffee table (one more bruise). There were two closets, but we were only in for two nights, and didn't need the hanging space. There was a whicker drawer in the restroom that I can't imagine anyone using (wasted space) And the refrigerator water dispenser desperately needed a new filter. The water tastes terrible. That being said, the kitchen was well stocked with dishes and a large refrigerator. The gym is small, but has useful machines. Overall, though I felt like the $170 resort fee was excessive for the accomodations. That's right $170.00 for two nights. And the resort fee was not mentioned at time of booking. We booked directly. So double check and make sure it's worth the time and distance to your other destination spots in the area. read more
