My mom and I go here for our birthdays every year because it's one of our favorite restaurants. The food is always phenomenal. I love the wild boar ragu and the fried oysters. And when they have the wagyu beef on special - oh my word!! And of course all the wine from Barboursville is excellent. The ambiance is elegant but relaxed and the staff are always very nice.

The restaurant is part of Barboursville Vineyards and specializes in generally Northern Italian dishes paired with the Barboursville wine. Executive Chef Spencer Crawford is a true talent in making the most out of local ingredients, including veggies, herbs, and animals grown and raised on the property. Check out the website for special feast events https://www.bbvwine.com/our-restaurant Today we did the Easter lunch, which started with an amazing goat cheese tart. The crust was perfectly flaky and buttery with a nice toast. The goat cheese was salty and earthy, pairing well with the roasted beets and 2018 rose wine. Next up was gigli pasta. I had to look this one up https://www.the-pasta-project.com/gigli-or-campanelle-pasta/. The past was perfectly al dente. It came with peas and this killer lemon sauce. It was topped off with house made guanciale (cured pork jowl). The sauce cut through and brighten up the dish and the fattiness of the pork. They paired it with the sav blanc, which is a fine spring wine on its own, but brought out more of the citrus in the dish. Finally my wife went with the lamb chops and I had the salmon. Both were perfectly cooked. The lamb was medium rare and the salmon had super crispy skin, but the flesh was still juicy. The salmon came with fava beans and oyster mushrooms that both brought some earthiness to the flavor party. The lamb came with this awesome roasted garlic potato souffle that had a great cheesy flavor to it. Service was excellent. Just an all around great special holiday meal.

The service was great but I would not recommend going hungry. The portions are small and VERY pricey. The food was decent but not nearly enough for the amount we paid. Wine was good, we bought 2 bottles-rose and Pinot Grigio.

Upscale and classy restaurant, yet it feels stuffy and not very welcoming. The staff is efficient yet not welcoming. They welcome you with a glass of complimentary bubbles, a good one. The portions are small. The prices are high even for lunch. The food is high quality, well made, yet just average outcome. The bread and olives plate is good.

I've been dying to try Palladio since the first time visiting Barboursville Vineyards a couple years ago but could never get in for a reservation. It's quaint and charming inside - and the food was delicious. It's also my understanding that the menu does change frequently - which I love as well! Barboursville wine is unmatched, truly, and I would 10/10 go back!

Palladio is absolutely worth the splurge! Each course is paired with a perfect wine for that choice so I highly recommend the wine pairing. Plus the sommelier is super knowledgeable and clearly delights in his job of introducing you to BBV's wines. This was my third time and the food was still excellent! I was absolutely delighted by the first course of white asparagus in anchovy sauce and burrata. And the second dish of sweet pea and ricotta ravioli floating in a butter garlic sauce was heaven. We were less impressed by our mains of veal and frittata, they both were just a bit underwhelming. But the wine pairings were perfect. The service seemed a little more casual this time around but still a delightful meal and perfect for a birthday celebration Tip: if you make an earlier reservation you can get a complimentary tasting in the tasting room. And let's be honest the wines are what make this place shine. FYI Uber will pick you up way out at the winery and and if you do the tasting and the pairings, I highly recommend so you can ride home with no worries.

Our lunch experience at Palladio was mixed. We ordered several dishes (Risotto with mussels, sweet bread (aka pork medallions), shrimp cakes), 3 flight Octagon wines, and received complimentary bread with olives and their fantastic olive oil. The food and ambience were fantastic for Northern Italian cuisine. However, we were not served by one waiter, so we had to often waive down one of the three rotating waiters for service. One waiter,Mark, rudely said to me that I am not supposed to raise my hand when asking for service. I had done this because when I called him previous occasions, he would walk by and ignore me. Not what you would expect for a $190 lunch. Not recommended.

Saturday was the second epic snow storm of the winter, but it didn't stop the PIC and I from enjoying lunch here. And the storm also didn't stop them from serving us, and serving us well. While the menu may have been more limited (only 2-3 choices per course, versus the normal 5-6), the service and quality of the food was not lacking at all. We got the full four courses, and wine pairings to go with each. For dessert I went for the cheese option and wasn't disappointed. There was a choice of 10 cheeses, and you got to pick 5 of them. It was certainly the best tasting and looking cheese plate I have ever had. The jam, honeys, and toasts that came with them left me more than happy. Certainly worth the drive from DC and the splurge. (Though I think 4 courses with wine pairs for 66 dollars is quite a deal). While it was beautiful in the snow, I would recommend waiting till spring and enjoying a day on the vinyard as well.

After searching lobster ravioli online, this restaurant came up, and the photos looked so good that we decided to give it a try. When we arrived, we were greeted right away and seated promptly. However, it took a while before anyone came to our table. Two younger waitresses were standing in the back talking with someone they appeared to know, and after about 15 minutes, another staff member finally asked if we had been helped. When I told her we hadn't, she immediately took our drink and food orders. The atmosphere was pleasant and family-friendly, with a relaxed vibe. Once our waitress took over, she was amazing--attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was absolutely delicious and packed with flavor. It was well worth the visit, and I'm so glad I found the place again. I'll definitely be making a trip back!

My husband went with the meat lover's pizza. While he was happy with his pizza, I was absolutely blown away by my pasta. Everything about it was perfect -- from the texture of the pasta to the richness of the sauce. It was incredibly satisfying and easily the best thing I ate all trip. We loved it so much that we came back a second time before heading home and ordered another one to-go for our daughter (yes, it survived the 2-hour drive!). The staff was kind and efficient, and the restaurant itself was clean and well kept. This spot has officially made it to the top of my list for future visits.

It's cool that the noodles are hand-made but they were very chewy to me. Maybe I'm just not used to home-made pasta but it was lacking. Very limiting and not very creative (from a pescatarian). Pasta was ready very quickly which was nice but if it was rushed, it shows. $12 for butter noodles. Can't say I'll be going back.

I ordered several items to eat over a period of time, and got most of what they had that would interest me. It's the kind of place where vegetarian with cheese is possible but other more restrictive dietary needs may not find much. Their interpretation of garlic bread is a flavored pizza crust, which I don't like as much as a properly airy loaf of bread. The cacio e pepe could have use a bit more pepe, but I appreciated the al dente noodles texturally. While they brand themselves as a pasta place, their pizza had a tangy tomato hit and a ton of basil that I appreciated. Arguably the best item was the salad, which oddly claimed to be a traditional caesar but had shaved brussels sprout, marinated tomatoes, bread crumbs, and a vegetarian dressing. Which is to say, it was much better from my perspective than a traditional caesar. The ultimate amount of food for the money, in consideration that this place is pure takeout, did not wow me. Were I in Charlottesville, I would sooner seek out a chance to dine in somewhere nice or cook my own, but for a traveler, the food here satisfied a craving.

Make sure to read the full description of each menu item as the short title doesn't do it justice. I ordered a braised short rib with risotto dish, which was amazing! But the short title was just "risotto", which I would have quickly dismissed without my friend mentioning the short rib in the description. We started with the calamari an appetizer. It had a nice crispy breading. They had deep fried jalapeños with it, which paired nicely with the calamari. Never had it like this before. The dish came out with a very generous portion of risotto and a large short rib on top. The rib was so tender that it fell right off the bone and you didn't need a knife to cut it up. So flavorful! The risotto was well flavored and have a nice creaminess to it. I could have shared this plate as it was very rich and filling. Service was admittedly slow, but I attribute that to our large group on a Wednesday evening.

Once inside, we sat at the bar since there weren't tables available and we were HUNGRY and cold! Even with the weather and a busy crowd, everything felt smooth and relaxed. AMBIANCE The place was small and cozy with a warm vibe that instantly made us forget the rain outside! The cool shallot-shaped lamps over the bar gave off soft light, making the whole space feel super calm and inviting. Sitting at the bar felt right choice for us for our first time -- close enough to the energy of the restaurant and people watching and seeing the pizzas get made but still comfortable! There's a soft buzz but cozy enough to chat and just feel at home. FOOD We ordered the Abruzzo pizza with beef and pork meatballs, fiore di latte, San Marzano tomato, basil, and pecorino. It was hearty and rich but still balanced. We also wanted to try the Prosciutto pizza, which was not the favorite but still good. The San Marzano tomato sauce for the Abruzzo was the star of the show. We were sad we didn't order another pizza with the tomato sauce to switch it up but oh well, another time right?! Loved the floppiness, the tomato sauce flavor, and the crust! Have to love the scissor-plate idea -- very clever and so easy. And size of these personal small-sized pizzas perfect for 2 people so we could have room for dessert and not have leftovers! We finished with the Zeppole "donuts" which were fried ricotta donuts tossed in cinnamon sugar with a hint of lemon (which I LOVED the lemon here and cinnamon sugar worked perfectly!). They were light, warm, crispy and just what you want at the end of a meal. The food was delicious, though definitely on the pricier side ($16-$18 each for the small pizzas, $9 for dessert. Still, everything felt thoughtful and worth it for the quality!
