We have a new crew working on your botched job, have to spend more time and money with this project. We told him not to cover the WEEP HOLES and he told us "is okay for me" like are you serious? He told my fiancé he will not be covering those, he did not even tell us he did. We had to find out for ourselves. The pipes were all crooked and not buried below the foundation. Just a complete liar.

Darwin has been the scammiest, most amateur and most dishonest contractor we have ever worked with…read morein Harris County, and that is saying something. Beware. We had Darwin give an estimate for some drainage pipes. We said we needed drainage baisins below the foundation along one side of the house to keep water from leaking into the house, and a drainage pipe snaking along another side of the house to remove water from our back patio. We showed Darwin the concrete that needed to be cut up, and the foundation that we needed drainage basins below. Darwin said he could do the job for $5000. After a day or two of work, our lawn was all dug up and the concrete was cur up, pipes were laid down, and Darwin said he needed more money. We went to inspect the work. The drainage basins were above the foundation and therefore not working to keep water out of the wall. Darwin said for him, it would be better to fill the weepholes in the brick wall with concrete. We told him not to do that because it will cause the wall to retain water. We wanted the drainage basins below the foundation like we had discussed. We came back a couple hours later and Darwin had filled our weepholes with concrete. We inspected more of the work. The pipes were not consistently sloped in the direction of the drainage. They just plopped in the pipes and didn't bother to level or slope them at all. There is standing water at the various low points of the "drainage" pipe which does not drain. Darwin said this is fine and kept asking for more money. We paid him $2500 because we felt bad for his guys, but we were clear we needed the job done correctly, the way we had originally discussed. Properly sloped drainage and basins below the foundation. We even said we would be willing to go over budget if Darwin would promise to do the work properly as originally discussed. Darwin refused to commit to doing the work properly so we fired him. We found another drainage specialist who confirmed that Darwin's work was shoddy and actually so bad that it makes our drainage worse everywhere he worked. I would have been happy to never hear from Darwin again and not post this review, but Darwin is now harassing and threatening my fiance trying to get $6500 out of us for this unfinished, worse-than-nothing job. "Pipe slope down" is literally the first thing to know about drainage, and Darwin doesn't know it.

Agreed on the price. Two days before their start of work, they submitted an invoice via email and text for payment in full. Day before of work, we paid in full. On the day of work, we came home and found work incomplete. Grass in greenhouse not cut. Small tree/bush at mailbox not trimmed at all. Very disappointing. Cannot recommend them. The upsetting part is we talked about what is to be done in person. and the guy agreed to the work and offered his quote. And we agreed to his quote and paid in full. Meticulous, perfection-driven, obsessed with details, hard workers, fast…read more This is a family business, with dad and two young adult sons doing the hard labor, and mom handling the business end. I have what you could call a "special needs" fence, deck, and yard. Electrical lights and outlets on the fence posts, an extra wide gate in the rear for bringing in a washing machine one day, removeable deck panel for access to AC lines, wanted the deck built on concrete blocks instead of chopping post holes into my driveway and live oak tree roots, pet turtles in the yard, and a koi pond that it was essential to not disturb the filter or plumbing or connections. Other companies didn't understand what I was needing, argued with me, or didn't speak English. But all DWS said was: Yes, yes, yes. My experience with contractors is that they're bulldozers, and I fully expected my yard and items to be trashed. Not with DWS. They carefully removed the electrical and then replaced it on the new fence posts - everything works. I had cleared the space as well as possible, but there were still items they had to move. All my garden décor, windchimes, turtle pen, etc. were preserved and neatly set where I could find them. Best of all, there was no damage to the pond, plumbing, or garden. They even did some "extra" things, like haul off pots that were too heavy for me, and trim a few branches on a baby tree. They didn't start too early (no morning noise to bother neighbors), and they wrapped up mid-afternoon. They use quick-set cement, so they can dig a post hole, erect the post, and then add rails and pickets all on the same day. They worked incredibly hard in July heat, and finished job a day early. Cleaned the driveway, sidewalk, and yard of all debris. A few things should have been hashed out better ahead of time. Type of gate hardware and locks, pergola / shade cover, retaining wall, moved the fenceline in 6" (made my yard smaller), cutting a limb off my precious live oak tree. Luckily, some of these were discussed the day before install, and were able to make last minute changes, with price adjustments where appropriate. The price for about 100' of cedar fencing and two modest decks was a gasp moment - but in line with other companies. The 50% deposit was daunting, esp for an outfit I knew nothing about, but it's in line with industry standards. Plus, they didn't ask for it until the week before install. Easy on-line pay, good communicators. The finished fence is sturdy, beautiful, and pickets all straight along the top. They hide the gate hinges for a neat look. Decks are exactly what I asked for. As an example of detail, a portion of my deck goes around the oak tree. Instead of cutting a circle out of the deck to accommodate the tree trunk, they cut the boards into pie slice-shaped wedges, so the boards fit around the tree like a pinwheel. ! This had to take amazing engineering, measuring, and cutting. Folks, there was no need to do this. This is a small deck in the back of the yard that's going to be covered with lawn chairs and potted plants and no one will ever see (except me). I can only think they did this out of obsession with detail, and had fun with the math and logistics. When they left, Dan shook my hand and told me he offers a 150% guarantee. Indeed, as the summer went on and lack of rain caused the fenceposts to shift and the gate started sticking, they came back twice to make adjustments. There's more good stuff to tell, but I'm hitting the word limit. Bottom line, I couldn't be more pleased with the people, quality, workmanship, and professionalism. You will be, too.

When researching fence companies, I bid my project out to several local businesses using the exact same specifications so I was getting an apples-to-apples comparison. DWS came in with the best price. When I requested a change to the original project scope after starting, they were transparent about the additional cost and provided a timely and fair change order. They were hit with multiple weather events, which delayed our project and subsequent projects they had on the books after ours unfortunately too. Despite the delays, Dan never rushed anything or cut corners and got the job done right. They operate honestly and would recommend to anyone looking to install a new fence.
