Palm Beach Motorworks took my money, never fixed the problem and never returned my calls regarding my vehicle. I called five times after picking up my vehicle. I called regarding the original problem was still happening with my car. I also tried to give PBM a second chance 1-2 years later, and no one called me back in regard to a second appointment. Lucky for me I found someone else that actually fixed my problem with my vehicle. I was referred to PBM from a friend and unfortunately I was extremely disappointed by the lack of communication. I was out of warranty, but Tony suggested I take it to for to see if they would help out. I did what he said and ended up having the bulk of the cost covered by the local Ford. Customer bill: labor $2610.00 parts $5579.50 sublet $ 459.95 supplies $ 35.00 tax $ 607.92 TOTAL $ 9,292.37 I,m a retired teacher and law enforcement officer on a fixed budget. They didn't even give me a senior/war veteran discount. I had to divide the bill between two credit cards. My recommendation? Customer be ware, read between the lines and shop around. Been having Jim work on my car since before he opened up shop. The dude was chief mechanic for BMW. So not only are his prices great, but he's not replacing shit that doesn't need to be replaced. Brought my car in the other day for him to do the E-brakes. It was super time consuming to make sure they fit right. He took his time. He did test drives and he didn't charge for all that extra work even though he could have. This man would do anything for his clients. Don't believe the BS from the other poster. Incredible people here. I had another garage screw up an oil change buy not including the O ring where the dipstick meets the oil pan (they changed the oil pan) and my car was losing oil fast. Brought it to Palm Beach Motorwerks and they identified the issue in two minutes. They refused to take any money for fixing my issue. Very honest and rare people in the auto repair industry. As a further response to Tony B's comment, there are quite a few lies to this response! First of all, a friend is considered someone who you know, like and trust. I know both owners, I thought I liked them until the treatment they gave me and my wife and I certainly do NOT trust them....neither do a quite a few of our mutual friends who have visited this establishment. Second, when asked to see my "friend" in the back about this $930.00 bill, he refused to see me and left the lame explanation to this co-owner Tony. As for the oil change, Tony above clearly says that the oil change WAS IN FACT $74.07, which means, yes, it IS over $50.00 as claimed. The hours of labor included with the oil change, or the engine air filter was never detailed in our bill. But one this is FOR SURE....we had a severe oil leak AFTER the car was returned and this was never a problem before the car went into the shop. Nice! Thirdly, when contacted about the parts needed to complete this job, a price was NEVER GIVEN, just the usual explanation that they are going to have to go with more expensive parts due to ordering conflicts. Tony is simply LYING when he says that the costs were authorized before repairs were made because knowing that, I would definitely have NEVER authorized this easy repair for that amount of money. Knowing cars as well as anyone else, I could have easily have changed my brakes and oil myself (which I will gladly do from now on). I was simply giving business to a "friend" who I did not know was going to treat me this way. Fourth, all of these "several diagnostic tests" they this place says they did....well, neither my wife nor I have ever seen a shred of proof of any them. If that were the case and this vehicle needed more work, don't you think we would have gotten that done? Nice lie, Tony! Again, these repairs were done on a Honda Odyssey Minivan and no one should spend that amount of money on such simple repairs no matter how much a shop wants to con you into making you believe "ever automobile repair presents a unique amount of complexity and equipment usage and we evaluate each and every repair fairly upon it's own merits". Let me translate for innocent, non-car people: We are going to charge you whatever we want and if you don't pay, we won't give you your keys back until you do pay! Lastly, the lie that Tony seems to think is unfounded, which was when he told not just me, but my wife, IN PERSON, that their labor prices are based on how nice of a car you have, IS TRUE!! My wife and I both heard it and since we have been around cars, shops, race tracks and professional automobile race teams for over 25 years, we were shocked to hear this. Tony, as damaging as you think this is, you might think about how you treat your "friends" next time, not to mention regular customers. People like me and my wife are here on Yelp to try to inform other possible customers of bad service and damaging repairs. No entertainment value here. Just a bad review!
