I absolutely LOVE this location for my tanning needs and preferences. I needed to go for a good base tan for my bodybuilding show and I wanted to make sure that I have the best bronzed look for my show even before I get that dark stage spray tan. Place is sparking clean and smells amazing, reminds me of a hot Florida beach day with some margaritas after a day of sunbathing type of vibe. Everyone is very nice and knowledgeable, they will surely take care of you and help you out with your tanning needs. They offer a few membership plans based on what you want as far as tanning goes as well as every visit rates. I chose a platinum plan simply because the beds were more of a bronzing type of tanning and not like a regular day in a sun type of tanning. I was explained in a great detail about how each membership works and answered all the questions that I had. They have their own on house line of tanning products and all the populate ones on the market available for purchase. I picked one that was a favorite of both girls that were working there that day and I said why not I love a good suggestion. It was indeed a very good suggestion, I'm getting a very nice and even layer of golden tan and I am so happy that I chose this location. The front desk girls are all very helpful and friendly. I wish I could remember the name of the first one to help me, but she was very enthusiastic and made sure she got me a good deal. Long review ahead.... Well everyone I've encountered here is so nice and helpful. However, Kirsten is literally amazing, GIVE her a RAISE! I had SO MANY questions about the membership plans, deals, discount info, and etc. A good 30 min at least she helped me answering all of my questions and often needing to repeat. When customers came in I told her I had another question (several times) and would wait until she finished checking someone in. My brain just wasn't processing anything, but each time she kept reassuring me it was no problem. I also have to wear hearing aids and Kirsten and the other staff have always been so kind and I've yet to see anyone be rude or have a bad attitude. I was so appreciative with her patience that I upgraded my plan to the Wellness I also like how they keep it clean and actually wipe down, sanitize, and mop the area. Certain things I'm weary about and know there's potential to contract a fungus. I definitely wouldn't have returned if it was unsanitary. I signed up for the upper tier tanning and it was great! I did it for an upcoming trip and I looked great. I put my account on freeze (charge $8/mth.) till I come back in October and found that they didn't put me on freeze and they kept charging me the full $117 for no services rendered. I spoke to a low functionary and she gave me the runaround telling me that her manager wasn't in and that she'd call me on a Saturday to resolve the issue. I promptly told her that this was their mistake and not mine. And, that she should get a hold of her boss and at least make her aware of what happened and not leave this issue on some sticky note for her boss to HOPEFULLY find when she comes in on a Saturday. The employees are nice and awesome , the beds and bulbs are the best. The corporate system is terrible . I join for a month to get base tan for a bodybuilding show. They won't let you join for a month. You have to join on auto Renew. I. The past times i have joined , I told them to cancel the membership and they "forgot" and I was charged for service I didn't authorize.I don't understand why I just can't join for a month, then I realize they want you to join and forget to cancel . So to prevent this form happening this time , I asked to remove my credit card. They "can't " do that. They can add a card but not remove one. So I had to call and cancel my card to be sure it didn't happen again. After this recent experience, I will never be coming back. Which is a shame because the quality of your get from the beds is the best. I just will not give my money to company that operates in a manner like this, that I view as dishonest. I've been tanning here for the past two years and they continue to have poor customer service...unless your a new perspective customer or thinking about buying $$$ tanning lotion. My guilty pleasure...I will preface by saying I usually spray tan...well, most of the time. I Love this location. Typically there is no wait, plenty of parking, and the facility is clean. Brooke, one of the ladies up front, was super helpful. She extended my package for me and explained all the free upgrades (this never happens at the other locations I have gone to) and she took the time to walk me through how to use the machine. Worst Palm Brach tanning salon. I'm in the military and have been to at least four Palm Beach salons in other locations. I have always experienced friendly service until now. This tanning salon had very little to no regard in offering a warm welcome and providing any customer service. I was going to purchase a membership but decided to only buy 5 visits after only a few minutes of interacting with a blonde lady. Didn't catch her name. The she told me to go to the room and didn't even show me around. Then to make it worse, she didn't start the bed. I had to come back out and she looked very put off that I was even asking her to actually start the bed timer. Ughh.....so frustrating. Going to get my next 4 visits that I paid for and that's it. I had only ever gotten a spray tan by hand from another woman, so this was my first time in a booth. I was a bit unsure of how it would turn out, but the staff provided clear instructions and my tan turned out great! It was too expensive to continue purchasing individual tans, as I began to go more frequently. They offer a very reasonably priced monthly, unlimited spray tan package. My interaction with the staff has always been pleasant and they take their time to answer questions. My only cautionary message is to prep your hands properly so you don't look crazy the next day! First of all, Palm Beach Tan has great equipment. I have never had to wait for a room and the staff have always been very friendly and accommodating towards me. Finally, the frequency that one is able to tan is fantastic. Unfortunately, I will be canceling my membership with Palm Beach Tan because of their employees constant and unrelenting push to try to get me to buy lotion. I have explained numerous times that I have no interest in the lotions that they recommend, however, they insist on asking despite me repeatedly saying "no." It's not as if their sales pitches are just suggestions, they are relentless. It is extremely annoying and I would rather go elsewhere in order to avoid these confrontations each time that I go to tan. Finally, I was told that I would be charged for the monthly membership fee on either the 1st or the 8th of each month. For the past two months that I have been a member these charges have failed to go through on the aforementioned dates. Therefore, I am left in the dark as to whether or not my account with Palm Beach Tan is valid or if I am still a member due to their failure to charge my account in the first place. Nothing in writing or contract that states the terms of what I was buying. They literally expect you magically know it. I love the Kingstowne store. They are one of the busier stores in the area, and as such they seem to get some of the best employees. The staff is always super friendly and welcoming, even during peak hours I am generally impressed with how fast I can get in and out. There is plenty of private parking out front, they have great beds at all levels and the store is always very clean. This is probably a great location with good equipment, but don't let the positive reviews fool you. The staff working at the location will try and force you to buy lotion and then carry an unpleasant tone with you when you refuse to but it. But that is not the main reason for this bad review. She went to the location and told her exactly what was her situation, which was that she we were leaving for a trip in less than a week and needed to get some tanning done for the trip. She asked the employee what would be the best for her needs and the employee quickly replied to buy a one month subscription. Of course my wife believed that this was the only and best route to take so she signed up and purchased the one month subscription. Shortly after signing up, we received an email from Palm Beach Tan and so we decided to go to the website. To our surprise, we found a one week tanning special that the employee completely failed to inform us of. My wife was enraged about this because when she asked the employee for the best option for her needs, she was lied too. We immediately realized that the employee had no interest in what is best for the customer to support true customer service. What made us even more upset on top of the fact that she was not really helping us out, was that she aggressively tried selling lotion to us like an annoying mall kiosk sales rep. When an employee breaks that trust with their customer it is near impossible to regain that trust back with that business. In this case the trust has been severely broken to the point that we will inform people of this businesses deceiving practices. If you have read this review then you have been warned. In one sentence: Palm Beach Tan is just okay. Employees: A lot of them are definitely on the younger side, high school students/ college students. It seems like they are often moody, seemingly hung over (at least they would talk about it in front of customers, which to me, is not professional,) and seemingly has an attitude 3/4 of the times I go. Customer service in this kind of industry (as well as sanitation) is important. We go to relax and catch some fake sunlight, not battle the grumpy, irritated receptionist villain to get to our tanning beds. Especially not after a long day that customers may have themselves after work, school, etc. Moneywise: It's not cheap. I signed up around April trying to get a slight tan for more contrast in skin color for muscle definition (bodybuilding), there was a deal that month. With that and the "initiation fee," I believe it was over a hundred. But do keep this in mind, tanning is not as much of an importance to me like let's say getting my hair done, so I'm not as willing to shell out the money, some people may, some people may not. Conclusion, my monthly payment was $60.00. Which in the long run was a lot cheaper than just walk ins' payment. Conclusion: To end my "constructive criticism" on this business, I would recommend it to my friends, peers, that's simply because: Even if the people aren't all too pleasant, the main thing is to go tan, spray tan, etc. They have some hair ties, lotion, readily for you, the place is clean, they have the eye protection for you, and clean towels. As for the employees, I understand this type of work can be irritating, dealing with customers whether their attitude is great or not and if something's going on in your own life, it's a mixing bowl of nasty. But that's when professionalism hits the hardest, just put that game face on, think whatever you want about them in your head, and carry on. P.S. This tanning salon is okay, I was hesitant to sign up with all of the horrible reviews but I like to find things out for myself as a previous member from another state. Went in knowing which package I wanted and got it. I was looking forward to my sign up perks of 2 free upgrades and a sunless spray tan (the sign is still on the wall) as I go in day 2 and ask to use one of my upgrades they say we no longer do that, I was disappointed I wasn't told this in the beginning at re-signing up. Sunday: I have been there 3 weeks now and for the gold package that is $50 there is 1 lay down bed in that package (I was unaware of this) the previous time I went(saturday), I did the I dream bed and was told it was in my package. When I asked for it on Sunday the girl said that's not in your package, did you pay to upgrade and I said no I was told it was in my package and she said no you only have the option of 1 lay down or stand up, or you can upgrade to the next level implying I was being cheap. I only tan here because of the cleanliness and convenience but I feel I overpay for the use of 1 lay down bed. Also if you change your offers and packages you should inform your staff and take down pictures of your 2 free upgrades at sign in. I will update this review with a picture tomorrow. This location is not very welcoming or friendly. Came in the door and the front desk girl (Mariam, don't remember how to spell it) did not even say hello or acknowledged me. The first thing out of her mouth was "last name". I was instantly annoyed how rude she was. She then mumbled "the room isn't sprayed down I'll be right back"and walked away. When she came back there were two customers waiting. She did not acknowledge either of them and started to help one of them. I had to ask if the room was ready and she says"it should be, go ahead and go back". I went into the room and the floor mat was clearly not changed because I could see wet foot marks on it and the floor. I started coming here because I didn't like driving to Woodbridge to go to the Palm Beach down there. I was glad I switched because the store here is much cleaner and nicer looking. I started going to this chain based on a recommendation from a friend who goes to the Bradlee location. I was going on vacation and wanted a little color before slipping into a swimsuit. They took time to tell me about the different options available to me (I wanted a spray tan and my friend had already told me what I should request) and potential packages. I bought a 5 spray tan package and they told me when it would expire. So they were very clear about that. They do typically ask me if I want to buy something (lotions, other packages) when I go in but they only ask once and then let it go. They were very nice and thorough in explaining how the spray tan booth works and giving me guidance and hints prior to my first time. I was really happy with the result. And each time I've been in since then I was greeted pleasantly and everything was clean and organized. I like it because it is easy to get in and out and get on with my day. read more

I came in to pay a balance where I hadn't been charged for a couple months because my oversight during winter months. I had considered deleting my account because I just don't go enough to pay $50. I did not tell Torri my thoughts, though and instead came in to pay my balance. She was so friendly and fun. She made me feel at ease. We joked and laughed. She then surprised me by putting most of my balance towards a product instead of just paying the $161 that I owed. She explained the lotions and helped me decide on one. I paid $100 towards the bottle and $50 towards my balance. Then she upgraded my tan bed and I had a wonderful tan experience. She never knew I was considering canceling my account but because of her, I'm staying with Palm Beach. I may not get out there enough but with customer service like that, it's worth it. Gabby in particular provides great customer service and helped me with my options on a limited time frame in which I was staying in DC. The facility is clean and they do provide the necessary towels/eye protection in the event you forget yours. At first I did think it was a tad expensive but when I got to use the beds I understood why. They are new beds and the bulbs were paid close attention to. I came into Palm Beach Tan excited because I had never been there and was happy to find it conveniently located to me. Although the manager, Chris, was quite short and rushed me through the process, I gave him the benefit of the doubt because I did come in on a Friday night half an hour before closing. I was extremely disappointed when my spray didn't show up at all, especially because I had left that night on a girl's weekend and couldn't go back to fix it in time for our trip. When I returned today to discuss a refund, Chris, the manager was quite rude. As someone who has worked in the service industry for over 5 years, I have had to deal with dissatisfied customers, which is why I tried to be as polite as possible when describing my disappointment in my spray. Instead of being sympathetic and helpful, he was clearly annoyed and snappy and told me very condescendingly that I should have purchased the additional $37 primer if I wanted my spray tan to be noticeable. If I had been told before I sprayed that my spray tan would not be guaranteed if I didn't pay for an additional product, I would have chosen other options as I have gotten high quality spray tans for much cheaper prices. Although he offered me a free spray, making sure I knew it would be "the only one I ever got", I politely declined because my vacation was the weekend before and the reason I had initially got one. He then told me to call corporate and brushed me off. Again, as someone who has been in the service industry for many years, I am very understanding of employees who may be having an off day, but this experience was so poor that I have chosen to write my first dissatisfied review ever. I signed up for the membership with the intent to be a regular, but after my non-existent spray tan that I paid $35 for and my poor experience with the manager, I will unfortunately have to find another establishment that sees customer satisfaction/ customer service as more of a priority. read more

I've been going here for about 2 years now. Front desk has always been super friendly and helpful! A big shoutout to Mike as he was incredible and informative when it came to helping me decide which bed package I wanted to do. I was switching over to the beds from spray tans. He gave me a tour, explained all the levels of beds in great detail and wasn't super pushy to get me to commit to a lotion or anything else! He was super honest when I asked about how long it will take to build up a nice tan (I'm pretty much white as a ghost) and when to come in to build and then to maintain it. I would give 4 stars for Palm Beach Tan as a company - get on their email lists and you will almost always find a coupon or deal for what kind of tanning you need. I love when they have deals on the VersaPro spray tan, which I have never had to pay full price for as a result! As far as customer service, I avoid this location at any and all costs. I'm not sure what it is, since I have been a customer at Palm Beach Tan for years. I am assuming there has been overturn with employees however I have never been able to redeem a coupon or deal I've seen online hassle free here. There is always some kind of upcharge. I recommend going to either the other Alexandria location on King Street, or the Clarendon location on Wilson Boulevard. read more
