Massive step down in customer service with the hiring of the new manager, Ashley. The absolute worst of the worst in customer service. This "manager" has no concept of how to treat customers, doesn't think listening is important as she will constantly interrupt you, will lie to your face, argues back if you disagree, will lock you out on a whim and then threaten to call the police. I'm not sure why these people are so incompetent at a simple menial job. I went to Another tanning chain previously and never had a single problem in 3 years. Hint: it was a Californian named one. At this one they have practically only one bed for each level which increases wait times significantly and for some reason when I request a lay down or stand up they put me in the opposite of what I requested! Not sure why they can't listen for 5 seconds to what I'm asking for. I did a spray tan once and it was the worst looking spray tan ever and I ended up paying $80 at a spa to have a full body scrub just to get it off. It would be one thing if they were semi apologetic but they seem to just shrug and be like whatever! ALSO they are WAY more expensive than other chains and for crappy beds with burnt out bulbs. For $49 at the other chain I got to level 5 here it only goes to two levels for that price. I can't wait till I move so I can go to a different tanning salon, this place sucks! read more

Rude employees (Caitlin). I arrived and there were 3 people in line. Once it was my turn, the girl just asked me for my last name and looked at the computer. I told her I just wanted a spray tan. She then told me to wait until she helped the 2 people in line behind me and put them in beds. While I waited, another member came in and upgraded her membership and was put in the booth I was waiting for. If she would have helped me when it was MY turn I wouldn't have had to wait another 30 mins for that booth. Not returning to this location. 60 mins total... should have taken 10. read more

Can't say enough about my positive experience with this business. I went in this afternoon to begin a membership in preparation for an upcoming event and was treated to some all star customer service by Mia. She was helpful, friendly and explained every part of the process to me with a smile. Although she kindly showed me all the levels of the beds, she never pressured me into spending more than I was comfortable with and also explained any fees that I could run into in the future (Upgrading from silver to gold, etc.). I can't say enough how nice it was to be presented the options (for beds and lotions as well as sunless), but to never feel weirdly pressured to spend tons of money. This kind of wonderful service is what will keep me a customer for a long time, rather than a one-time shopper who feels too uncomfortable to give return business. Thanks PBT and Mia! read more

Friendly, helpful staff. Very welcoming and informative. Clean, well kept beds. I've been enjoying this place very much, so far. I'd do some research on their lotions beforehand though.. I got duped into buying an intensifier for 40$+ (even after the 25% discount) only to get home, search online, and find the same exact lotion for half the price... damn! I have had nothing but good experiences at this location until tonight. I am a regular here and am usually served by Tiffany, who is super sweet, helpful, and friendly to me always. However, I was extremely disappointed tonight by the staff. I called the salon 20 minutes before closing and asked "Emma" if I was able to come in to tan right before closing just for a few minutes. She said that was fine even though she seemed irritated on the call. I came in and there was another girl working with her. They both looked irritated, as I walked in at 8:54 and asked to tan for 5 minutes. I apologized for coming late and told them I didn't want to keep them after hours and I would make it quick. Emma replied that everything "shuts off" and "doesn't work" at 8:55, and they had to be "out of here" by 9. I was disappointed because I had already called and hurried to make it before closing. They finally allowed me to tan, but not without being extremely rude, making looks at each other, and acting impatient and not making eye contact. I was glad to know that thing didn't actually "stop working" and 8:55 . I hope management talks to Emma and her coworker about how to treat a customer. read more

Update: I talked to customer service and they at least refunded the cost of the cartridge (that should have been free in the first place), but they told me the primer I was told I had to buy couldn't be refunded. Instead, they gave me store credit for the amount I paid for the primer, which isn't very helpful since I probably won't be returning. Oh, and after a couple of showers and a lot of scrubbing with a loofah my tan stopped looking orange and actually came out pretty well for my event. read more

Palm Beach Tan used to be my go to spot for sunless tanning. I love VersaSpa. Over the past few years I have spent quite a bit of time and money there. I even had a sunless membership for quite a while. I have spent lots of money here and even brought about 4-5 friends in with me and frequently recommend PBT. I have been a loyal customer for about 2 years, which is why I was shocked last time I went in. I had cancelled my membership for the winter months and had been purchasing spray tans for a few months. I went in to get a spray before an event, and was told my spray tan had expired. What? I had never been told about purchases expiring. The young woman helping me told me the spray tans were now only good for 45 days. She was nice, but made it very clear it wasn't her problem because she didn't sell the sprays to me. I told her I was shocked because this had never happened to me before. I asked her to write down my name and have her manager contact me when she came in. I just wanted to tell her about my concerns and to possibly have them rectified. It's obviously up to them to change their policies, but when they do they need to tell their customers about it. Not only did I not get the spray tans I paid for, but the manager never contacted me. I even waited a full week before writing this review. I'm sad to say, but I am now on the search for a new sunless spot..... read more

I first went there in 2012. I got "clear medium" but it made me look dirty... like actual dirt on my face. It was weird. Went there again in 2017 because they were the only place open on a Sunday night, when I was free. The girl convinced me that clear medium should work well for me, so I took a leap of faith and did it again. Before I went in though, I told her that I'm slightly hard of hearing so wanted to read instructions first. She told me "don't worry, it's very loud and clear." So I go in. I step in the machine. It says very loudly, "stand in position 1." But no one told me what position one was!! I had read every shred of text on the wall before stepping in (because I was already worried due to hearing impairment). There had been NO guidance on positions. The machine was just spraying away now telling me to stand in position 2, 3, and 4 (whatever those were!). So I just had to make up positions!! I got out and asked the girl about the positions. "Oh my bad" she says; "I didn't realize you hadn't done this before." I realize this was just a misunderstanding (she thought I just needed to hear when to go to a certain position as opposed to what the positions were). But it sucked nevertheless. Would suggest employees be encouraged to offer specific instructions unless the customer is a regular. Thanks! read more

I have been tanning for many years, and recently moved to Austin and this is probably the best salon I've been to. It's always very clean, all the beds are always properly clean, bathrooms are very tidy, and you hardly ever have to wait for a bed. The employees are awesome too, they are always so friendly, but there's one employee in particular, Travis, that I absolutely adore. He signed me up and every time I come in he is always so bubbly and seems excited to see me. Whenever he signed me up he gave me a tour of the store and explained in detail what every bed does, and how they work. It was nice getting an education on the different types of beds! We then talked about lotions, and I have always been iffy about buying lotion from the store because they are always so expensive, but he explained the lotions very well to me and educated me on why their products are so important to have for your skin. He seemed to know what he was talking about, so of course I gave in and spent way more than I wanted to- but it was totally worth it, and I have never been happier. They even have a brand new bed too! It is so nice. I go in it every time now. It is the coolest tanning bed I have seen yet- and the color I get from it is extraordinary. Overall this salon is fantastic and I will always be sure to continue tanning at palm beach's. read more

I went here a little nervous as I have never tanned in a bed or even a spray tan and had no idea what to expect! I talked to Joy at the front desk and she was super knowledgeable about all the products and beds. She made me feel very comfortable and confident I was spending my money in the right place! She gave me a tour, explained the differences between all the beds, helped me choose a good lotion, and was just very pleasant and friendly. The place itself is really nice and clean which is always important. I'm super excited to keep coming in and get nice and tan for the summer! read more

i write this as someone new to tanning. i chose palm beach tan primarily for location. it being right next door to the awesome HEB was a big plus. i came in with a month to get a decent tan before a big vacation to Europe. i had truckers tan, farmers tan, about 4 different bathing suit tan lines, sock tan lines, skirt tan lines....i was a mess. walked in and was greeted by Misty. i got a tour of the facilities and a run down on each of the beds. based on her reviews and recommendations, i chose the middle 'gold' membership for 1 month. it was a bit more expensive than i planned on - after their $20 yearly fee; the price of the membership and the cheap bottle of lotion i dropped $80. i understand the month to month plans are cheaper, but just one month was pretty pricey. but anyhoo, i got over it. there was no sales pressure, she just gave me her recommendations and let me make my choices. that was very nice. i got 2 free upgrades and a free mystic tan when i signed up, in addition to a kit with a lotion sampled, goggles and something else that i don't remember. i've been tanning every day since i'm on a deadline, and every time i go the staff is very nice and answer all my questions. the facilities are always very clean, and the access to free goggles is good when i forget mine. they've been great about recommending how long i should tan for without getting burned. after 3 weeks, my tan is coming in nicely - it took a while because my torso hasn't seen the light of day in about a decade so we had to play catch up. i probably won't be back once this month is up, but that's only because i can't see how long term tanning is healthy - but to get a tan for a special occasion, give yourself a month and try palm beach :) to sum up: cleanliness is great. bed maintenance is great. staff members are nice, knowledgable and very quick. little pricey, but in this case i got what i paid for so i'm ok with it. read more

i visited this location while out of town. i had to do a spray tan for my friends wedding. i had a great experience. it was my first spray tan and i was really nervous. the lady at the counter helped me pick the best options for me. they have a new booth that dries you off and it smells really nice, it was a different experience than what i anticipated. i would definitely go here again or refer any of my girlfriends because i got exactly what i wanted out of the process. read more
