It's been a minute since I last spray tanned but this spot has my favorite machine, the versus spa. I needed a refresher course and the lady at the front was super helpful and informative. I love that they offer red light sessions as well, now that I know that I'll be returning to test them out. The whole place seemed very clean and well kept. VERY expensive at $20 for a 10 min tan (level 3 bed as a walk in). They say it is 12 min but the timed ticking seconds go by way too fast in the beds for it to be so. 10 max. $20. The beds were good though with facial and shoulder tanning windows and fans. Huge beds, comfortable. The gal at the counter was friendly and helpful. No appointments needed. read more

I like coming to this location. I can get a spray tan and not worry about damaging my skin. The packages are a pretty good deal and it helps me remember to go. Lately Emily is working at the desk a lot and she always remembers me which is nice. She makes good suggestions of products I might like but doesn't pressure me to buy anything. I've been coming here for a while and just can't do it anymore. I wrote an original review and someone from the store called me right away and offered to bump me up to a level 4 bed (free) if I removed the review. I initially thought that maybe my first impression was incorrect and it was just a bad couple of days here, but it's been months now and I still see the same issues. First, I've lived and tanned in probably ten states and I've never had to come so often and tan in a high level bed to get any color. Usually once or twice a week, max, is sufficient. Here, and it may be because almost all of the bulbs in their #10 bed have a burnt crust covering part of the bulb (like maybe it's way overdue for a bulb change), it's takes weeks of going 2-4 times a week to get any color. That's too often for the quality here. Their highest level bed requires an expensive monthly membership and barely gives me any color, and I'm constantly noting burnt out or crusted bulbs. It's like they don't want to pay for the maintenance or something. Second, their marketing is obnoxious. They want to be followed everywhere on social media and even posted a sign saying you'd get free or discounted services if you gave them five stars in Yelp (they hurried up and removed the sign when another person wrote a review about it, but not before I got a picture). They currently want Instagram followers and are offering to enter people in a contest for free or discounted services if you follow them. Third, it's always dirty. There's been literally feces smeared on the toilet when I've tried to use the restroom (the bathroom is just disgusting in enteral, see pics), the stand-up bed (they only have ONE) has had dirt and gum stuck to it every single time I've used it, etc. If it's something I notice and have even have brought to the attention of more than one employee, then there's no way the staff doesn't notice. It's like they see something that needs to be cleaned but can't be bothered. Fourth, the staff kills me. They're 100% indifferent when people walk in, they maybe occasionally manage a greeting, and one of them has had a male visitor who sits in the lobby chatting with her while she's supposed to be working. It's been uncomfortable to interrupt their conversation so I can check in. The others just don't seem to care. One girl told me the bed I wanted was in use, when I told her I'd wait, she seemed annoyed, waited five minutes then went back and actually wiped it down so I could use it. It wasn't in use, I'm guessing she just didn't want to clean it (no one left the bed and the bathroom was empty). In general, it's a dirty place with older beds that charges an expensive membership for burnt bulbs, in my opinion. It's time I headed elsewhere. And if you're the manager or owner here, you do not have permission to procure my phone number from the records at the location and call me multiple times like you've done before. See the pictures, stop trying to buy your clients, and maybe get the place cleaned up. I'm really not trying to sound harsh, but the evidence is in the photos. read more

In the last 3 months the versa spray tan has been not so great. It's fine at the other locations but this machine has problems. I let an associate know that it literally didn't spray your bottom half. Two weeks later it kinda sprays bottom half, but never fully, and it's super splotchy everywhere, I thought I had a rash. It's really great at the other locations and I LOVE this place/company but something is wrong with the machine here. Hope it's fixed soon. Update 5/17/2017: bumping to a 4. The Versa is working better at the Ben White/290 location and at least sprays your whole body, but I still can't seem to get the nice coverage I get at the other 2 locations that I used to frequent (far west, 183 north). It's a tad splotchy but I've found wiping down with a towel all over right after the session helps to blend it in. If I didn't now have to cross the river in traffic to get to the other locations I'd go. Still love them, staff has always been present, prompt, accommodating and polite to me. Come to BudaKyle, Tan Etc.! :) , tons of space and businesses. If you teamed up with a decent nail nail salon in same shopping center, WOW. read more

I was hesitant to go full nude spray tan after my mommy makeover but within minutes of discussing my spray tan expectations, I was very comfortable with Natasha completing my service. She is very knowledgeable about spray tan levels, enthusiastic about her job, confident in the application process and very easy to talk to and set realistic expectations for me to follow. I've gone back and forth with this place but I'm still kind of upset. Initially I wrote in a review previously that the employee told me their "last tan was at 8:45." I thought the issue was fixed and the employee didn't work there anymore. Tonight, I walked up to tan at 8:49p and another employee was locking the door. I stood for a second and she shook her head. If you put your hours on your door that you are open until 9p, YOU ARE OPEN UNTIL 9. I know your employees want to go home, but it is terrible customer service to lock your doors before business hours end. You NEED to let customers use your service until your business hours expire. Any other of the large chains let people tan until they say they close. This issue has not been fixed. They can stay an extra 10-15 min or so, it's not going to kill them. read more

You can not trust any of the 5 star ratings for this business. They offer you $35 to be used towards products they sell for a 5 star rating on Yelp. They are essentially buying 5 star ratings, which I find deplorable. When you sign up, you are required to spend $20 on products you might not want. I walked away with a $22 bottle of moisturizer I didn't want. You also get two tams in a bed of your choice, but apparently it doesn't go into effect until the next month which was improperly explained to me. As for as for the tanning itself, beds are a little dated but bulbs appear new and accomplish the task. I have not been able to get the sound system to work on a single basic bed, which is very annoying. I will be ending my membership after this first month is complete. read more

But today there was a girl working (i don't know her name but she has big beautiful eyes and she's very tan). We came in at 330 on Sunday the 9th of august. Anyway, she was very welcoming. This salon is clean, that's the #1 thing I look for in a tanning salon. The staff are all sweet and get to know who you are quickly and what you like. They even special order your favorite lotions if they don't carry them. You never step in a wet spray tan booth which helps with comfort and they use the versa pro, no streaking, no bad smell and the heater works. Tanning has always been something I've done and it's important to me, I feel like tan etc is my tanning salon "home" been a member for years and have no desire to leave. Super clean facility, my only draw back is the responses and clarification on freeze times by the front desk staff and the notification system could be improved. I had my account frozen for 6 months....so when the draft reoccurred there wasn't a notification of reactivation, just the draft. Once I realized the draft took place and I still wasn't in a place that I needed the extra monthly expense I stopped in to cancel my membership. During this time my card was compromised from a different city and notifying Tan etc. was the last thing on my mind. Needles to say, the draft hit for my final payment and it was tacked with a lovely late fee. I wish that there's was a system notification program in place that notifies clients of reactivation. Six months is a long period of time to remember to re-freeze or cancel your membership. I'm updating my review because I received an email saying they removed the late fee, although minimal, it was an appreciated gesture and shows the owners and staff are trying to run a customer focused business. read more

Sorry to be the negative person in all of these reviews. The tanning is fine. Beds are clean, etc.. Their customer service was not great in my experience. When I originally went in, I was told they didn't charge a start up fee. The girl forgot and then right as she was about to swipe my card remembered the $50 start up fee. Then, she told me that the membership was only $20 monthly. To my surprise this month, it was actually $30. When I called to ask about it, they just said, "Well it's $30. That was her fault". No apology, no attempt to fix it... Not a great way to run a business. read more

Wow! I rant and rave about this place. Moving from California to Texas I was really hoping to find a good tanning salon like back home. Tan etc is even better! The beds are new and have multiple settings that I love. They have fans to keep you cool and an iPhone adapter to play music or listen to the radio.
