I was in extreme hurry as a manager took forever to register and take care of person in line ahead of me. I expressed my need and hurry as I was running late for very important meeting. Needless to say I don't think she was compassionate nor was concerned to try to accommodate me faster. After a wait of 10 minutes ( and I did timed ) it took her another 10-15 to get me set up. Time wasn't invested wisely on my part nor the money. They charged me $43 for single one time session tan claiming they only had packages. Im out of state and was getting married that wknd. Overall I'm giving 2 stars only because I'm happy with tan results and location - everything else I wouldn't waste my time on. read more

WATCH YOUR CREDIT CARD STATEMENT EVERY SINGLE MONTH!! I upgraded to what I was lead to believe was the next package up (wanted to use 770 & 880 - the girls were aware why I was upgrading). Well 2 or 3 months later, my hubby saw on his statement they had upgraded me TWO levels ($112/month). I went in to downgrade a level and, of course, wouldn't take effect until the next month even though had never used anything but 770 and 880. You can be sure if I had upgraded, the higher price would've been prorated to the end of month. RIDICULOUS!! Not even an apology for THEIR mistake. Last year, went in and cancelled and was still charged 2 months afterwards. CLEARLY their mistake but no credit (obvious I hadn't been there). No apologies, either, for THEIR error. The girls working there are fine but they are given NO latitude whatsoever when it comes to common sense decisions. None. Not even the "sales manager." The ONLY reason I go here is its convenience. Scam... They talked me into buying a platinum membership for a more luxury tanning experience; nicer beds, nicer results, nicer sound system, more tanning options... And it was about $80 for 1 month... Yikes. Well I've found that I could have gotten a better quality experience at Lakeside for $20: 1- I'M NOT GETTING TAN? Something is off about these beds... I've been going almost every day for 4 weeks and I've not picked up noticeable color! I have never in my life had trouble tanning. I don't even burn in these beds, I just get nothing. My legs and stomach are kiiiinda tan but my face/ arms/ upper body: no tan whatsoever. So odd. 2- DIRTY TOWELS. I attached photos, I've had some dirty stained towels here. Brown makeup spots & grey/black streaking (not from me, I don't wear makeup when I go). Makes me wonder how sanitary the whole place is... 3- BROKEN BEDS. The 880 bed has 3 dead lights in it, the shoulder tanner button doesn't work at all, and the speakers/sound system has been broken for 2 weeks. & Guess which bed they keep putting me in... I know I sound like a princess when I say this but laying in a super loud machine for 12 minutes with no music is brutal. And when I'm paying $80 to use it, I need to have a fully functioning bed! 4- SASSY STAFF. I finally broke down and complained to the girls at the counter. I told them I was frustrated with my lack of results and disappointed with my experience because of the long list of things wrong with the bed they keep putting me in and I think it's unfair that I pay the premium price for beds that are in such terrible condition. Her response? "I can leave a note for a manager to call you but I don't know what we can do..." I said, can you at least fix the sound system? "Well the problem with that is we'd have to have someone come alllll the way out here to fix it so like, I don't know..." So first of all, you're admitting you have NO intention of fixing broken machinery... Second of all, her tone was basically trying to shame me for asking... I work in customer service; you don't do that. You don't make the customer feel stupid for asking to have 100% of what they paid for. That's so shameless & unreasonable. Oh and 5. I still haven't heard from that manager... Honestly, just use Tarte or Tanwise sunless tanning lotion, or if you have to tan in a bed, to go Lakeside Tan down the street. read more

I went in to tan after signing up for the Gold membership & spending $225 on tanning lotion. Yes, you read that right. I have a super busy work schedule & im getting ready for a trip. I came in to tan 4 hours "early" because it's the only time I had (20 hours not 24 hours later) & the very rude front desk girl told me I couldn't tan. I've worked at a tanning salon, you can definitely override that-at least once & I specifically asked this when I signed up. Other locations are great. I'll never go to this one again. read more

I initially went into the Salon to get a few tans prior to my wedding. The salon convinced me the best deal was one month of tanning so I agreed. After my wedding I called to cancel and I was informed I would have to come in. I went in to cancel and I had already been charged for my second month which is ridiculous considering it hadn't been a full month since I had originally signed up. The girl informed me I would not be able to receive my money back and had me sign the cancelation form. She told me my best option was to call headquarters. After speaking with headquarters I was told since I had signed the cancellation form there was no way to reverse the charge, which is the complete opposite of what I was told in the salon. I have a couple bones to pick with this place - first of all, their staff told me TWICE (seperate occasions) that their bogo deals etc. does not expire, when it does.. so I come in to use my paid for spray tans, but guess what? I can't! I am so shocked right now that I threw money right into the garbage. Also, 2 months ago, I was supposed to get a call from a manager (said the blonde haired employee) to see if they can help me out in some way. Well, no one called. The customer service sucks and on top of that, the rooms are not clean! I have the most disturbing photos of the dust, garbage, wrappers and whatever else just sitting in the corners of these rooms near their machines. Also, the vents INSIDE the spray booth literally shoots dust/debri at you because those have not been cleaned either! I took some photos to send over to corporate too. @PalmBeachTan continues taking $ from my bank, after being asked 3x by phone to cancel my account. The 1st time was in March when they closed. The 2nd time was in June when they reopened. Today I was charged again, and hung up on after being accused of lying. (The district manager who hung up on me, said it didn't count as hanging up on me since she said, "have a nice day." When I called back was told my email was needed to cancel. Each time I'm told they do not issue refunds, but they will cancel my account. read more

Kind & friendly staff. Clean facility. However, if you sign a membership agreement and you want to cancel make sure you do so early. I signed up for one month of unlimited tanning before my wedding reception and I missed my cancelation date by one day. I called and asked if there was any way I could cancel since I did not need an additional month of tanning and let them know I would come in person to cancel that night if it was a possibility. The front desk associate called their manager to ask and they stated they can't cancel the membership even if it is just one day over the cancelation period since it is in my contract or "EFT agreement"... I get it but we just had a wedding and so many things go on. They could care less. Business over customer service I guess. Very unfortunate. read more

What happened to this place?? Holes in the walls patched by stickers, no garbage cans in the rooms, bathrooms are always absolutely disgusting, signs that look like a preschooler made them taped up all over the store, lotion all over the walls, beds that squeak so loud when you pull them up or down you go to plug your ears, floors always sticky, and a different girl working every single time. I remember back like 10 years ago when this place was supposed to be spotless at every second. Now I am a little apprehensive about keeping my membership. Very disappointed with the service and service model here. Bought a 3 pack of spray tans and then all of a sudden each time since I had to pay an additional $20 for the actual spray tan? Not sure what I spent on the $70 3 pack then originally? And THEN I went to go use my final spray tan from the pack of three and they told me my PACKAGE had expired??? Pretty insane if you ask me. I am so depressed that Palm Beach bought all of the Darque Tan locations. I have been paying around 56.00 a month for years and was able to spray tan as much or as little as I wanted. I only use it maybe twice a month. Palm Beach Tan is just a nightmare... always trying to upsell. The Versa machines that were from Darque Tan don't give any color anymore so apparently the only option is to spend another $14 on top of your monthly membership. I just read reviews about working at Palm Beach Tan and was not surprised to see a lot of complaining about having to meet commission goals. I am shopping for a new tanning salon. read more

Don't ever give them your credit card info or sign up for a membership, you will regret that instantly. They do all they can to take your money and bill you for services you have never used. Rip off. I purchased one Mystic Tan session for $72. It seemed excessive but I was unfamiliar with tanning costs. Six weeks later I went to another place and it was 4/$85 in a VersaPro system. Palm Beach's Mystic Tan was uneven, very dark in certain spots, not a good result. At the other place the VersaPro was exceptional. My color was even, there were no dark areas. I called Palm Beach regarding the price and was told the high price was due to additives which she itemized for me: $30 to walk into the booth, $7 for the cartridge, $12 for a primer, and three additives (e.g., PH balance?) at $6 ea. Did I really need all those additives? NO! Their focus was not on me, the customer, it was on up-selling a more expensive option. They could have suggested a more conservative approach for my first time. read more

It's clean, bright, the staff is friendly, VERY knowledgeable and helpful and obviously very happy at work, which makes it a pleasure to go there. They offer lots of options and great packages. The staff at this location is top notch. They are always friendly. My complaint is about the corporate management. I wanted to cancel my membership as I already been on vacation and didn't need to tan any longer. Because of other obligations I didn't have time to write a letter so I sent an email asking that my membership be cancelled and explain my unhappiness with their billing system. I never received a single response, however they did take out the membership fee at the end of the month when I requested that they cease doing so. I also resent their lack of transparency in the billing. It was never explained to me that there was an additional 10% tax that is levied on tanning businesses and therefore passed on to the customer. The contract, which took about 2 weeks for me to get, also does not mention this tanning tax. It may not seem like much but I find businesses that do not fully explain there billings to be less than truthful and I question their motives. read more

I have been tanning here for almost 3 years and I absolutely love this salon. I used to go somewhere else where the beds were not kept up with and to know that the bulbs are changed often and the staff is very educated about everything is so refreshing. They have so many deals all the time to give you great discounts on lotions. :) I've went to multiple tanning salons and worked at multiple and this one is the best. Tried PBT on a coupon and immediately the upsell started. They are really good at it and well trained. Attended 3 or 4 sessions on and unlimited membership. Returned again and the beds were down and couldn't tan. Got busy and didn't go and two months later went back to cancel and was told for $5 my membership remained open and I would get a discount on any tanning I came in for. Got no paperwork and what I thought was a $5 charge was $5.86 a month ongoing. Called twice asking them to cancel and was told a manager needed to do the cancellation and never received calls back. Had to get mad and demanding before they would do anything. So ... frustrating experience, poor customer service and equipment that goes down so they can't provide service. Not a fan. read more

On July 3rd, 2014 I visited this tanning place. It was the worst experience. A week earlier, I had visited a Palm Beach Tan in D.C. The guy there was very nice and told me that I could use my single sessions. I was surprised but he made a call to my local Palm Beach Tan, verified my info and I was allowed to use the bed without paying extra. Pleased with this experience I bought more when I got back home. Then I visited the Richfield MN location. I wish I never did. I was greeted by a rude manager by the name of Danielle Jubera. I explained to her that I was out of town and told her that I was able to tan in D.C. using my sessions. She did not listen to anything I was saying and kept telling me that she can't help me cause that's not company policy. I asked her to just call to verify what I was saying. She argued some more and then called. Even though they verified my info she made sure to tell the person that was not company policy. So I was annoyed but still wanted to tan so I waited. I then asked to buy a single lotion pack. She said they did not sell any. Now I was really annoyed cause all salons have this. So I told her that I wasn't going to tan. I asked her to call my salon to tell them to put my session back into my account. She ignored what I said, and helped someone else. I waited until she was done and asked her again. She reluctantly did. I left the place and called my salon. I asked the girl what the Palm Beach policy was since I had two very different experiences. The girl said it is company policy that customers can't use single sessions but when someone is from out of town or whenever they need to, they are told to go the extra mile to make a customer happy. Well, I am here to tell you Danielle Jubera needs lessons in retail, and how to make customers happy. She is an unpleasant, unhappy individual who would rather fight with a customer than to make them satisfied. Try to avoid this location like the plague...........cause it's horrible. read more

Instead of negative reviews I usually just take my business elsewhere. I've been a platinum member for 4+ years. Stopped by yesterday and as I keep my lotions in my car, which was in the garage for service, I was lotionless. Of course I'm referring to the rather hard sell, expensive lotion that I buy there. I asked the girl if there was a little I could have for my face. After pleading she reluctantly took a bottle and put a drop, and I mean literally a drop, in my hand. I thought she was kidding but when it was obvious she wasn't, I asked if I could have a little more. It was explained to me that they don't do that and they have to keep for other people. I told them that as a member of long standing and needing some assistance exceptionally this day, they could have stepped up and been more accommodating. The reaction was one of something between utter disinterest and nuisance. The result? Given the location isn't convenient and the cost is not a bargain, I'm going to look for something better. read more

I had been a premium member here for close to 10 years - mainly because it was about a mile from my house. Anyway I went primarily to the Richfield location because it was so close. However it is the worst run, maintained and has the worst service in general of all their Twin Cities locations. The facility used to be better though - several years ago. The last several months they've often had one spray tan booth (of the two they have) not working so it was backed up and very slow. The service generally isn't great - one clerk in particular couldn't remember my name even though I tanned there almost week after week and saw this same person over and over again - but I could put up with that. To make a long story short, I moved 3 months ago to Roseville and it just wasn't practical to go there anymore because it takes so long to get there - all their locations take a half hour or more to drive to for me now. So I decided to look around for something closer. I ended up joining at Darque Tan as it is about a half mile from my new house and I'm very happy with the tan quality (VersaSpa). It's faster than Mystic (the one at Palm Beach, and they are ancient at the RIchfield location and need replaced) and I think it does a better job. Also at Darque Tan they don't upcharge you for everything. At Darque Tan there is one monthly fee and you can get whatever tan level you want -the monthly fee is about $6 more but when you add the upcharges at PBT which I always did, it ends up being the same and maybe slightly less at Darque Tan. So I decided to drop my membership at PBT and that wasn't received very well by the staff there. LOL They tried talking me out of leaving and kind of took it as a personal affront - but that was typical of the kind of unprofessional service that I've experienced there off and on over the years. So bottom line, there are better options out there so definitely shop around. read more
