Saw the great reviews and thought I'd give them a try since they were 7 min from my job site this week. Their prices are definitely higher than other places I've gone to but it's totally justified! There's only street parking but I like that it's a large drawn rectangles unlike some street parking that's tiny and (you know what I mean lol). We were there 10/14/23 I wish we lived closer, the food was delicious! Sweet Chili Red Snapper was delicious. It was pieces of fish (glad it wasn't a whole fish) that were crispy on the outside and tender inside. The sauce was sweet and spicy delightful combination. I love whole fishes but hate eating them in a restaurant, so much work LOL Volcano Pork Shank (Osso Bucco Style) was a chef special and the pork was tender falling off the bone and spicy! Be careful if you can't handle the heat, ask them to make it mild lol Thai Iced Tea and Lychee Iced Tea, I'm so happy they offer the Lychee version as it does not use milk (dairy and me are not friends...) but still used the same tea as the Thai Iced Tea, YUM! I ordered a Shrimp Pad See Ew to take home and it was delicious. Pad See Ew is my go to at Thai restaurants, which makes it easy to compare. Even though I ate it the next day, the noodle was not soggy. It was not too sweet nor salty. My only comment is that there was only 4 jumbo shrimp, I would have prefer a bunch of small shrimps so I would be able to get a shrimp in every bite vs eating the shrimp separately from the noodles lol Service was excellent! The mushroom and peppers dish with chicken was fantastic, very flavorful And the peppers were fresh and crunchy. I also tried the emerald fried rice and I will give you the same description, minus the part about peppers! The food was a sufficient proportion, I was adequately stuffed at the end. But still had space for dessert! I tried the fried cheesecake. The presentation was very cute. The fried crust was delicious, and the cheesecake was good. All the foods here were good but for the price, I wouldn't order takeout from here. If I'm going to spend over $15 on food, I'd rather dine in but that's just me. Like any great restaurant Palm Thai gets it right by starting with the freshest ingredients. I especially noticed this with the green salad which was tasty and crisp with a clean finish. You feel healthier immediately after you eat it! The chicken satay was served nice and hot with condiments that were very complimentary. The lemongrass soup has a inviting tart hotness but I preferred the coconut milk soup. The desserts are fantastic and you should not pass up the fried cheesecake or the carrot cake both were terrific. They called to say that an item wasn't available, were extremely rude to my fiance, hung up on her when she was having trouble understanding what the issue was and cancelled the order. Gave them another try because I had ordered 3 prior times without issue, and again they called, said they wouldn't make an item which was ordered on Grubhub, refused to cancel the order and basically said it was my problem to cancel. Luckily even though GrubHub system won't let you cancel the in process order unless you forgo a refund, they took care of it when I chatted with them. Great selection, options for spice levels, customization and consistent time after time. The duck rolls are unique to this place and worth trying if you like roasted duck. We have been looking for a good spot for Thai food in the area since moving in. We decided to take out for the first time. We ordered and it was ready within 20mins, which was great especially during prime dinner time around 6. We ordered the chicken drunken noodles and the chicken green curry. Those are our usual go tos when getting Thai. The level of spicy was great for the drunken noodles. Definitely a medium spice, not too hot and not too mild. The noodles melted in your mouth. The green curry was great also, the one thing that definitely caught my attention was the way the eggplant in the curry was cooked. It tasted as if it was sautéed in olive oil first so it had the melting like butter taste when you would chew it. It was phenomenal! Highly recommend getting the green curry! I ordered through Postmates: drunken noodle with chicken, Se Ew with chicken, and dumplings. The dumplings were delicious and a good portion (6). The noodle dishes were a good portion, but as you get older, spice is not your friend, so I definitely had to eat the noodles over a handful of days. This Thai restaurant is located on the main road through Madison, with parking in the back area as well as on the street for an hour. The staff was very friendly and got a seated very quickly for a group of nine, and we ordered off the lunch menu. Note that the lunch menu includes a rice and a salad but not a spring roll which had to be ordered separately, $2 for two. I ordered the Beef Pad See Ew which was reasonable, although I wish they were a little more vegetables instead of the thick noodle, the spring rolls were vegetable and okay with a dipping sauce. The salad was on the light side, with barely any sauce and a single slice of cucumber. I also had a Thai iced tea which was pretty good. The desert of mango sticky rice had purple rice which was okay, but the mango was delicious and ripe which made up for any rice shortcomings. Overall service was okay and the bathroom is clean. Food was good for most folks, and we do also order here for catering for larger events and they do an amazing short rib Curry. Note that for groups larger than a certain amount we were charged gratuity automatically. At least they take credit card. read more

We ordered for pick up on Saturday evening. It was our first time ordering from this place - ever. Based on the reviews, we had high hopes for an excellent Thai dinner. The Thai crispy vegetarian rolls were tasty. Crisp but not greasy, with just the right amount of veggies to roll ratio. The dipping sauce was unusual - sweet and light, but really good. Next we tried the Shrimp Pad Thai. When we opened the container, it looked like a congealed mess of noodles with a few shrimp thrown in for good measure. There were a total of 5 medium shrimp in the order for $16. A little on the expensive side - even for Madison NJ. There was no tofu in the Pad Thai. I have been eating Pad Thai for maybe 15 years. I have never encountered such a boring version. Peanuts were mixed in, and there appeared to be some bits of egg, but that's about it. A wedge of lime was the only addition. It was also very clumpy, and very sweet with little other flavor. Definitely skip this item. We also had the Chicken Thai Basil for $15. This was a really good version - the flavor was on point with just enough spice! Lots of onions in this version, but it was so flavorful that it didn't matter. It does appear that they are trying to skimp a bit to save money, but during these times of Covid, they may want to give customers a reason to come back and order again - instead of giving them a reason to try other Thai restaurants right down the block. Amazing place. From the outside you'd definitely miss it but the food quality should not be missed! The interior is not spacious, moreso on the cozy side borderline cramped but it was a full house when I had dinner here and the staff managed well. Let's talk about the food because it gets an A+. Had the mock dock and the spice was just right. It was moist, full of flavor, with the perfect portion. Also had some of the drunken noodles which were done just right with a healthy amount of tofu. I've been to Palm Thai before and really enjoyed it, but this time, not so much. They do a robust take out business & I'm willing to chalk this visit off as an off night. Our chief issue stems from the fact that there was one person waiting on and serving the whole restaurant, and this same person was handling all the take out business. (I am well aware that many restaurants and other businesses cannot seem to get people to work and I'm willing to assume this was the reason for the service issues we encountered. But having said this, I've also been to several restaurants lately where staffing was more than sufficient.) Some of our dishes were quite good but some were bland and drier than they should have been. We started with the thai rolls and dumplings. The thai rolls were good but the dumplings were tasteless. The shrimp pad Thai was fine but the chicken pad Thai was so bland and overcooked. It was so dry. The drunken noodles were good but not great as they have been in the past. The Salmon in the salmon mango also was overcooked although the mango part was good. We will go back and try it again based on our past experience there and hope that it lives up to past standards. read more

Because of COVID-19 and it being Friday evening, I understand that there is extra time needed and businesses are doing their best during this time. Now on to the experience: I went to pick up my order, the business is empty of tables/chairs, and they block the entrance so one person at a time has to wait to pick up their order (good, as expected). But when I look inside, which you can see straight into the kitchen, no cook was wearing masks or gloves that I could see (I saw what I believe was two different cooks). The person I would consider a manager was walking in and out of the kitchen, also without masks and the lady answering the phones, taking orders and giving people their orders had a mask but would slide it off when talking on the phone (at one point going into the kitchen without it on). Needless to say I asked for my order to be canceled. I understand this is a difficult time, but protocols have to be followed and I won't let things like these slide with businesses. read more

We stumbled upon this place one random Friday evening. Without reservation, we still obtain seating without a wait. The restaurant has a hole in the wall feel to it with very friendly staff. In a sense, there's a Classic Thai joint. Upon taking our seats, reviewed the expansive menu. Settling on the Tom kha soup which was served in a very fancy appearing Bowl. Their take on the Tom kha soup was perhaps a little different. I believe there's a small amount of bacon which made for an interesting flavor. I was a fan of the soup. Moving on for my main course, I chose Panang Curry. Again, this was a hit. It was mildly spicy what's good flavor. I ordered the shrimp Curry and there were large number of shrimp. This week is the week of 5 stars I guess. This was one of maybe 3 Thai places in town so I had to try the one rated the highest and it didn't disappoint. I read reviews about the drunken noodles and everyone said get it. So I got the drunken noodles which was amazing! Everything was cooked and mixed to perfection. The noodles were perfect, the chicken was tender, plenty of bell peppers and onions, etc. I also got the Tom yum lemongrass soup which was equally as flavorful. It definitely hits you with lemongrass which I loved. It was starred as spicy but it wasn't even close. I almost felt like none was added, but it was still good. Finally I got the pepper chicken which was not as good, but I liked the charred flavor. Overall, delicious flavors but portions were tiny! This is probably the most expensive I've paid for such a small portion in a long time, but I'd still come back for those drunken noodles. Service was quickly, friendly, and attentive. 2 waitresses/servers, but I came on a Sunday afternoon so there weren't many customers to begin with. It is located off the main street so easy to find. Can't wait to come back. Again, pricey but good. Averaged $14 for regular entrees. They had seafood dishes that were $22+. read more

I was excited to get takeout from Palm Thai today as I've been to another location that they have in Mooristown Madame Thai Cuisine. I had my heart set on ordering their homemade warm carrot cake topped with cream cheese as it's absolutely delicious! They make the best homemade desserts I ever had at a Thai restaurant! Unfortunately, it was unavailable today, but hopefully next time they'll have it! I had the mango salad with tomato, carrots, and cilantro in a chili lime dressing. It was excellent! The salad and the ingredients were so fresh and crisp. The chili lime dressing gave it a nice kick of Thai flavor to it. I was quite impressed! For dinner I had the pad Thai with extra chicken. It was nice portion size, and the sweet and tangy saucy was DELICIOUS! The only thing is there wasn't any crushed peanut in it. But, nonetheless, I was very pleased with the flavor! For dessert the had a fried cheesecake with Raspberry sauce. It was AMAZING! The cheesecake was nice and creamy, and the Raspberry sauce complimented it very well! As I said you have to try one of their desserts! I never usually like desserts from a Thai restaurant, but the owner here makes the best desserts! Ask if the carrot cake or banana Nutella cake is available if not you will love the fried cheesecake! One thing I do recommend is expanding the menu here as it's limited. Add the fried fish cake appetizer and crab rangoon to the appetizers. Also add the pineapple and crab fried rice dishes to the entree menu. Those are dishes I'd love to order here.
