I have ordered many times from Blossom in Summit and in Mount Arlington and have been pleased everytime. I ordered sushi last night for the first time at the Chatham location after nine months of pregnancy and was extremely disappointed with the quality of food and lack in quality of service I received. I only recieved half of my order and as for the food I did receive, the laziness of the staff and poor quality of the fish they served led to it being inedible. I provided a picture of a philadelphia roll I ordered: what is supposed to be salmon, cream cheese and cucumber. You can see how lazy the staff was, as they only put rotten fish and bad nori into each piece. read more

Very good food with gluten-free options available, although I don't know if it would be safe enough for someone with Celiac because I didn't ask a lot of questions. The Tom Yam soup was fantastic, with really high quality shrimp that did not taste like farmed shrimp. The Basil Filet Mignon was actually made with filet mignon. My friends loved their sushi. I wish they offered GF sushi, but I will take what I can get. It is BYOB, but we just went down the street to a wine store, and the restaurant supplied the opener and the glasses. read more

I've been usually very satisfied with this restaurant, but today it was a total disgrace. I ordered two starters and one main course. I live only one mile away from the restaurant, but I had to order via Grubhub. I placed my order at around 6pm expecting to arrive before 7pm. After a few minutes my order was rescheduled to arrive between 7:19 and 7:39pm. At 7:39 I was still waiting, without any update from Grubhub or the restaurant. I called the customer service line at Grubhub and the person asked me to wait on the line while they checked with the restaurant. After 5 minutes of listening to a very annoying tune I hung up. I got a call from Grubhub a couple of minutes later and they told me that my order would take another 15-20 minutes. There are plenty of asian restaurants in the area, so I will not die if I don't order from Blossoms anymore. They just lost a customer. read more

The food is awesome. It tastes fresh and they use good quality ingredients. My boyfriend usually gets sushi which is always great. The past couple times I've ordered the hot and sour soup which is the best I've had as well as the General Tso's chicken which has a great sauce and tender chicken. Another huge bonus is that it doesn't seem greasy or like they use a ton of oil which is the norm with most Chinese restaurants. It's on the pricier side but for the quality we feel it's worth it. read more

I love blossom's decor and menu variety. You wouldn't think the inside is so fun simply from driving by. Their miso soup and sushi are delicious though a little high priced. I do wish they had a lunch menu or a better dinner special offer. I feel bad leaving a 2 star review during the coronavirus pandemic when everyone is struggling, but I got some sushi and gyoza from here just now and couldn't believe the cost. My bad for being impatient and just ordering from here, and comparing prices afterwards, but I looked at 2 or 3 menus of nearby places and the prices here are much, much higher. One order gyoza and california roll. Place 1: $10.70. Place 2: $10.50. This place: $16.50! I took away another star bc the gyoza was disappointing, reminded me of Trader Joe's. read more

This is our go to place for take-out but the dining room is attractive and it's fun to eat in for lunch and dinner. There is something for everyone here - first rate sushi and sashimi, regular rolls, and their specialty rolls like the Chatham. If you want traditional "American Chinese" they have it and you can tell the ingredients are high quality. There are other good Pan Asian choices. We love Yummy Dumplings and Gioza to start and then Sashimi Platter, Bangkok Beef, Tuna Jalapeño or Tuna Scallion rolls and the best General Tso's chicken. More expensive than the average Chinese restaurant, but totally worth it! read more

I came here for a birthday party on Thursday evening. Our group ordered several sushi rolls and shared them with the table. We also ordered some dumplings as an appetizer which were delicious. The sushi was just as good as I've had any place else. The service was fairly good but I'm only giving it three stars because it was overpriced. I know, that much of this is to do with the fact that it's located in Chatham, however there are better deals and places out there to eat sushi in my opinion. Came here Christmas night and had a very nice dinner either family. It wasn't as busy as we anticipated do we were seated right away. One had chicken pad Thai, another had General Gau's chicken, and I had a sweet potato maki and a spicy shrimp roll. Great presentation on all three. Service was friendly and efficient. No. No. No. Did I come on a bad night, or are all you guys insane? Okay, like all my negative reviews, I'm going to start with the good. The decor in Blossom is absoluptely GORGEOUS. I've been coming to this particular spot for years, ever since it was Nine Thai way back in the day. I walked into Blossom and was immediately wowed -- every decor goal that Nine Thai failed to meet, Blossom had exceeded. A gorgeous Asian-fusion decor, with a beautiful sushi bar, and even the bathrooms are pretty and meticulously color-coded. Good job, interior decorators! Unfortunately, that's where the good ends. The menu is sizable, yet uninspiring -- I actually think the sushi rolls might be the thing to order here, as it looks like they put the most dedication into designing the sushi part of the menu. The entree dishes are pretty underwhelming and are reminiscent of a standard Chinese takeout place. I was hoping to score some specialty ramen, or some roti canai....nope. Service left something to be desired too. Our waitress seemed bored and uninterested in her job and this worsened the taste of the food in my mouth. The apps came quick -- I had a seaweed salad, which was fine (I guess it's kind of hard to screw up). We also ordered scallion pancakes which were OBSCENELY oily and flaky. My girlfriend's miso soup was fine -- also hard to screw up. The entrees were across the board abominable. We ordered a beef teriyaki, a chicken teriyaki, and a Asian-glazed duck breast. Both teriyaki dishes came out lukewarm....the meat was cold and gross, and this was made worse by the sickeningly sweet sauce. The vegetables that came on the side were unseasoned and uninspired -- garnish for the sake of garnish. The worst type of garnish IMHO. Again....like takeout Chinese garnish. Not Asian-fusion $20 entree garnish. The duck entree was even more expensive, like in the $25 range. It came "Peking Duck" style with some hoisin sauce....but it was overly fatty and fried to death. There were just strips of fried skin lying around on the plate as it came to me. Really? This is the best you can do for $25? We skipped dessert. The waitress took so long to collect our check that we brought it up ourselves (mind you, we were the only people in the restaurant). Avoid this place and head to any of North Jersey's finer Asian fusion restaurants instead. If this is what passes for good Asian fusion in Chatham NJ, well, that's just sad. read more

I don't know how this restaurant has 4 stars. The atmosphere is nice and the service was good, but the food was not good. We got the chicken lettuce wraps and tuna dumplings as an appetizer. The chicken did not look like it was really chicken and if it wasn't for the sauce it wouldn't have been edible. The tuna dumpling was the only decent thing we ate. We got the spicy tuna roll, the tuna lover roll, and the fantasy roll. The fantasy roll was alright, but the tuna on the rolls was not fresh at all. The spicy tuna mix was very fishy and we could not eat it. The kids chicken teriyaki was rubbery and my kid wouldn't eat it and I don't blame him. ...going to get pizza. Since this place opened, I've been told constantly by people that I had to go:all of my friends are obsessed. We had a coupon for a free appetizer and so we're excited to try it out. To be honest, I don't quite get all the hype. It's a BYOB which is good but I found the food to be overpriced and underwhelming. We started with the lettuce wraps. They were ok. To be honest, I thought they needed just a tad more flavoring. Were they bad? No. Would I have been mad paying for them without the coupon? Absolutely. The portion was tiny for the price. For entrees, I ordered the General Tsos chicken. It was fresh and tasty but worth $15? Not really. My hubby got the Bangkok Beef which was good. Again, $19 for a small portion is just not really worth it in my book. The portions are small for the price. If I'm going to spend $40 bucks on dinner at a BYOB, I want big portions and mind blowing flavor. Unfortunately, I just didn't get that from this place. The atmosphere is really nice, however. It was different than most places, usually it is served in a bowl with a lot of sauce, almost soup like. This was on a plate and tossed in a little sauce. The flavor was very good. My only complaint was it was very small. It was lunch and it may have been a lunch special size, I'm not sure and forgot to check the bill. Will definitely return and try other dishes. read more

I want to preface this review with I'm excited to give Blossom another shot. It has a lot of potential, and I think my experience was atypical. I brought my girlfriend here for a nice, mellow valentines day dinner. We wanted a nice, comfortable place, but without all the valentines day B.S. or crowds you find at most places. Blossom was PERFECT in this regard; clean, beautiful, great ambiance, and relatively quiet. It's BYO, and located RIGHT NEXT to a liquor store; could not be more perfect in my opinion. Service was largely fine. We had a bit of confusion where we (and they) didn't really know who was serving our table. We ordered soup from one waitress, and an appetizer from another, and they initially forgot the soup in the switch. That actually worked out for us though, as we decided we didn't really want soup, and canceled the orders. The way I see it, no harm; no foul. After that, nothing to report. The food was alright, but I was underwhelmed to be perfectly honest. I think this is where my experience wasn't normal, and that's why I'd like to try it again. We ordered a shrimp appetizer, I think it was called "firecracker shrimp" or something of the sort. Maybe I just had incorrect expectations, but when something has a name "firecracker," and based on how it was described on the menu, I expected it to be a bolder flavor. It was coconut based. Not bad, but not what I was expecting. I asked for some hot sauce and I spiked it; a great improvement in my opinion. For my meal I had the Thai Snapper. I give them a 10/10 for presentation; it came wrapped in a banana leaf, and inside of that it had cabbage or something right on top. The sauce also was pretty good. However, I found it a bit "fishy" in flavor. I'm not sure why; I'm hoping this was out of the norm. Once again, I added some of the hot sauce, which greatly cut that fishy flavor. All in all, I did enjoy my meal. I just feel like "if I had to add hot sauce to everything, was it worth it?" I'm looking forward to going back, maybe to try out a few different menu items. The ambience is "asian terrific". However, I would suggest taking the Christmas lights down from the windows, they just don't fit! The food is generally good and some is really good. Although, I have not been impressed with the Thai offerings. They seem to be too saucy, sweet and heavy. I do love the vegetarian dumplings, and my wife loves the avocado salad. And remember, BYOB, with a liquor store next door. My regular server Cindy, is great! I will have no one else. There is another waitress there, who just doesn't belong in the hospitality business. She looks bored and unmotivated. The staff needs to be more proactive. Don't look another way, when passing customers that may need your help! Finally, what's with the new "plastic" menu? I am spiitting mad! My bad! We have been hesitant to order "take in" , in particular, sushi (raw), since the pandemic, but decided to indulge. Is Blossom out of their gourd?? I should have checked the menu prices, but was last minute "take in" dinner. I ordered 2 sush rolls (one each...average size), edame and I was asked small or large fried rice....I ordered small (which is large) for $17!!!!!...for rice?!! My bill for the above came to $65!!!...never, ever, ever going to that restaurant again....absolute rip-off! Taka, located in Summit, is even better and half the price...only problem is parking, but I will drive around and be patient. I could have gone to River Grill, Chatham....(excellent food!!!!) and gotten 2 delicious steaks with sides for that price. Get out of town, Blossom...you're not worth it!!!!!!! read more

Blossom is my favorite restaurant in NJ. The food is incredible. Every dish I've tried has not only been exceptionally delicious, but the presentation which I usually don't care too much for has been beautiful as well. The atmosphere is amazing, very modern materials, very clean, great lighting. The service is quick and very friendly. The owner of the restaurant, Randy, usually checks to see how everything is. He's the man, has multiple successful restaurants for years and knows what he's doing. read more

Nice decor and very friendly service. We got our food to go a few times now and the food is good; much better than an average Chinese take out place. When we ate in the restaurant however the food was REALLY good! There were six of us and only a booth was available which was a bit cramped, so they moved us to the back where there's a really nice private party area. Great spot for events requiring space for 20-25 people. Try the Triple Crown with shrimp, chicken and beef. Very tasty with just the right amount of kick. We'll be back read more
