This deserves ZERO stars! Absolutely disgusted with these criminals. I don't write reviews but reading everyone else's had me inclined to do so for the simple fact that I did NOT consent verbally or by signature to sign with Palmco. A representative came to my door and asked for my name, date of birth and talked about how Palmco offered competitive rates compared to my current electric and energy supplier (PEPCO). The representative asked me to sign their enrollment form and I declined, she then pushed and said that signing wouldn't obligate me to anything, that I can cancel at any time. Contrary to what she claimed, the actual enrollment form in small black letters specifically said that if I signed then I was obligated to agree to the terms and pay the variable fee that Palmco would be charging. I automatically knew something was fishy so I reiterated that I was NOT interested and that I wont sign. Fast forward a couple weeks, I received a letter in the mail from Palmco thanking me for enrolling and switching over to them. What?! So I immediately called them only to have an answering service tell me they were closed. I then called my utility company so I can cancel and find out why or how they would even authorize that. A PEPCO rep' told me that it did not show in her system that I was switched over or enrolled with anyone else. Another letter I received from my utility company (PEPCO) stated a confirmation of Electric Service Changes, that they were notified that I selected Palmco as my new electric supplier and that I would start receiving electricity through my new supplier (Palmco) on the 23rd of this month. I was livid, I then called Palmco to cancel the contract that I did not consent to in the first place, they immediately told me that cancelation would take 48 hours to process which would land on the 23rd day of this month and that I would still get billed for the month and that can cancel after that. BULLSH*T!!! The representative then told me that the only way they would've authorized my enrollment would be from my signature to transfer. I asked for a copy of this so called contract that I had supposedly signed, because I know I didn't. I then called my service provider PEPCO and spoke with the supervisor on how and why they authorized a switch over without my consent? That I had wanted them to cancel the contract, they explained they couldn't cancel the Palmco charges, that they dont give out consumer information. I call bullshit on that because 1. I did not give my account number, 2. I didn't sign any form or agreement with Palmco. So Palmco you are all frauds, and the only way you continue to be fraudulent is by placing blame on "third parties". You and your cronies should be locked up for charges on the consumers and for forgery! Needless to say my utility company lacks the competency to at least make sure that their loyal customers did in fact make that decision before proceeding and releasing consumers information, and because of that I cancelled Pepco too. I will enroll for services elsewhere! read more

The reps wouldn't leave and were so pushy that we ended up signing up and after that our electricity bill sky rocketed....we were paying double than what our bill should have been. When I called to cancel they said it would be process by the next billing cycle but it wasn't; I had to call three times to cancel! They showed me a folder with PSEG bill, and mentioned, after Obama re-election, there is a new law, PSEG is charging Bad fees called BGSS Commodity, they will fix it, and at the beginning the guy did mention for once "PSEG has sent them to fix it" All I said is why don't they fix it in their database. Right after the guy pulled out his set of forms and started filling in their form with my data from my existing electric bill; Didn't even care to ask me for my consent or explain what they intend. I pulled back my bills (I have multi-family house in north new jersey), I said, what is that form you are writing on, on top it has Palmco, its not PSEG, the other girl said, he did never say he is PSEG.. These people go door to door soliciting, then forge signature on contract and try to state that anyone in the residence over the age of 18 can consent to the change of utility. The bad thing is that I had someone house sitting and they did not even care. They must hire bunch of people who forge signatures. Unfortunately I did not notice the switch for a long time (my stupidity) I just paid the bills on line and didn't review (my fault) but when they charged me 321.52 more then if we were with PSE&G (local electric/gas provider)--and looking back just 4 months, they overcharged 672.73 over PSE&G---when I called they attempted to give me a credit of 50.00--insulting my intelligence. I tried to speak with them directly to resolve the issue, without any success. I will be filing a complaint with the Board of Public Utilities------this must be stopped. They are totally not concerned that their representatives are forging signatures and getting customers switched over through questionable practices---I would even say illegal means. When I mentioned this to their customer service, they stated we take it seriously but quickly stated they have a signature and that the person they spoke to at the house provided their information-----disregarding that this person had no authority to consent. So by their definition, if my son's girlfriend who is over 18 yrs old visiting us from college responded to the door when Palmco representative came to the house, she gets to decide who my gas/electric provider will be----despite the fact that she does not pay the bill or has any say in my home, REALLY??????? I plan on also going to the local news agency to look into this, as I'm sure I'm not the only one that had an issue with this company. 0*s In MA, NSTAR Electric changed over to Eversource earlier this year, and shortly after this occurred some Palmco door-to-door salesperson showed up soliciting in my apartment building just outside of Boston, purporting to be from Eversource and asking to see my most recent bill to make sure some vague, unspecified change had been processed correctly on my account. I showed him my bill, and he claimed I was being overcharged a higher rate, even though I follow my bill and have a tiny apartment with no central air and explained I had therefore basically been paying the same for a year. He then changed stories and said that I would notice this mysterious increase in the next billing month or two. Apparently, in order to correct this, he tells me I must sign some forms, such he brings out and starts to fill out for me, all the while only ever mentioning NSTAR and Eversource. He hands me the papers to sign, and they have Palmco printed at the top and don't say Eversource anywhere. I ask who Palmco are and why they don't say Eversource, and he says, "Everybody always asks that," and then makes out that I'm some uninformed consumer and don't I know that Eversource buys their electricity from Palmco or some tosh like that, and tells me that nothing is going to change, I'll still have Eversource electricity and get my monthly bills from Eversource, and nothing will change except I'll pay less money for the next 2 months for an introductory trial period, which will cancel automatically at the end of the 2 months unless I elect to continue by contacting them at Palmco to do so. Of course, everything this guy spun me was a blatant lie, he was in no way associated with Eversource or the NSTAR change and was strictly from Palmco and only offering electricity at an uncapped, unspecified variable rate that per the contract forms he had for me to sign could increase (or decrease, yeah right) at any time at Palmco's discretion with no limit. We just had a visit from a Palmco representative, claiming to be with PEPCO. He totally misrepresented himself and his relationship to PEPCO and WGES. I didn't sign anything, but he did get information off an electric bill. I Immediately called PEPCO customer service. They knew about the scam, but couldn't do anything until Palmco attempted to switch my provider. This is like the old long-distance slamming. Deregulation shouldn't mean lawless! New Jersey Resident - They solicited me to change over from PSE&G and said that after their promotion period their rates would be variable and gave me a historical picture that rates are most of the time better and never said that variable rates could be double! They are dishonest and dubious and if they want to have a real business model and keep their customers, when the variable rates reach over 25% higher than other utility charge, let alone double, they should reach out to their customers and advise them on how to better manage their energy rates. A few months ago (Apr 2013), a Palmco respresentative convinced to me switch my electric supplier to Palmco Power NJ in order to realize 10-15% saving in the electricity supply charges. I did see around $25 in total saving in the first two months but since then they have been progressively charging me a much higher rate than that charged by my electric company PSEG. The past month (Dec 2013) they charged me around $385 for the supply charges @.1910 per Kwh. In comparison, if PSEG was my electric supplier, I would have been charged $221 for the same period @.11 per Kwh. I contacted them and after reviewing my account , they have issued a courtesy credit of $43 (for the $164 in overpayment). In addition, they have grossly overcharged me for Sep 2013 - Nov 2013 as well ($210 in total as compared to what I would have paid if my supplier was PSEG, as stated in my electricity bills) . I understand they have a variable rate but I have realized none of the savings they advertised and have grossly overcharged me (their rate only seems to be going up in the past few months). I only discovered this issue by going throught the detailed electricity bill for the past few months and it is very easy for them to scam unsuspecting consumers using this scheme. read more

Their sales rep came to my home and told me I should switch because their rates have been lower than my local provider's rates (Washington Gas) for 36 consecutive months. Of course, when my bills start to arrive, they are TRIPLE what they would have been with Washington Gas ($1.46 per therm with these guys, vs $0.49 per therm with Washington Gas. When I explained the situation to the "customer service" rep, he said he can't explain why the sales rep would tell me that but their rates are what they are, and I'm stuck with the bill. When I received my last bill I thought I did not pay the previous bill, but I did. When I investigated I saw that they were charging me 0.17 cents per KWH. Before you even think about signing up with them look into other companies first, I signed up with them they claimed to be competitive and the cheapest around, they gave me a good deal for about 3 months then almost doubled the kW price. I ended up paying 19cent a kW compared to my state electric supplier who was only charging 9kW. They got away with this for a few months until i finally caught on. When i called to cancel the rep on the phone told me it will take a few business days for cancellation to kick in. Fast forward one month and they are still on my bill! Come to find out their cancellation process takes 2-3 months! Why did the rep lie to me!? I am raged!! I now switched over to Ambiet Energy with a locked in rate for 12 months, I hope my next bill will be right! I have heard nothing but negative reviews from this company! read more

The company has called me three times and emailed 1 time, threatening and with lies. They had sent me a supposed copy of the contract I signed. No signature page or salesman name. I'll probably be following up this Yelp complaint with a complaint to the Federal Trade Commission about PalmCo's business practices. They advertise a certain rate, then they skyrocket the rate with each month. After just three months, they were charging more than double what my gas company was charging. ~1.89/therm vs. .85. My gas usage didn't rise that much, but my bills almost tripled. I received a $350+ parting bill from them a month after I told PalmCo I no longer wanted to be their customer. PALMCO called my house multiple times for several weeks to switch electricity supplier. After 3 month of introductory rate PALMCO raised rate to 90 cents per KWH that is 10 times higher than Pennsylvania PECO. I have learned that Pennsylvania Utility Commission (PUC) penalized other energy suppliers for aggressive marketing practices. I filed a complain with PUC at https://www.puc.state.pa.us/filing_resources/filing_complaints/informal_complaint_form.aspx. Next day I received a phone call from PALMCO. Hi everyone: I am posting here because I am scammed by Palmco. And I plan on taking further action, possibily a class lawsuit if we get enough people on board. For me, Palmco signed us up without getting a consent. They ended up overcharging us for around $180. Money aside, I filed a complaint with board of public utilities. A disgruntled lady called me and blah blah blah. I tried to get a contract, the lady refused and told me that the board of public utilities has them (BPU). I called BPU and the promptly sent me an email containing the document. Guess what, the signature is FORGED. I think they are doing the same thing to many customers. So if you are scammed by Palmco, follow these directions: 1. File a complaint to board of public utilities. 2. You'll get a call from the same lady probably, ask her to send you a contract that you signed, (if you didn't sign a contract, tell her that the signature is forged and it's a criminal offence, and demand a contract--you have the right to). 3. If she refused, the BPU should have the contract (it might take some time after the complaint though). Contact BPU and speak to the customer service, request them to send you the contract via email. 4. If you didn't sign the contract, save the forged document. They forged a signature and it's a serious criminal offence. If we get enough victims with forged contracts from Palmco, it'll be an easy victory with some serious consequences for Palmco. Beware and do not do business with at any cost. I have a family of three and we live in a townhouse. Middle unit so only two exterior walls. Our house is fully electric so our energy costs can be high. Last year we used PSEG and our electric bills in the winter months were around $300 which isn't absurd compared to what my neighbors pay. Some are a little more and some a little less. Then everything changed when we went to PALMco. A man came to our door and told us how much money we could save. Wow we thought how great. It was heading into March so the weather was becoming milder. We didn't receive huge savings and are always doing our best to conserve energy. Well our ears perked up this past December when our electric bill was $600+. We chalked it up to the Christmas tree because we needed to blame something. We did everything after this to save energy. I mean EVERYTHING. We were cold. We lived in the dark. I did laundry and dishes at off hours. Had the furnace tuned up. Put blankets over the windows at night. Just a few of the things we did. Then we got our next bill at $1,022.00. I thought there was a typo. Something had to be wrong. Could our neighbors be using our electricity? We asked some neighbors what their bills looked like. $500. $400. $250. PSEG said if we had used them our bill would have been around $350. You see what PALMco does is go knocking on doors when energy costs are low but they never actually give you a good deal. Then when costs are high, most companies will charge you the average rate of energy but PALMco nails you with whatever rate was the highest. It doesn't pay to do business with them. We called them to complain and they told us we were SOL. How they retain customers is beyond me. The worst company I have ever done business with. We have gotten rid of them for our next billing cycle so I'm looking forward to being without them. read more

We were also victims of the PALMco bait and switch. They offered us a low gas rate of .44 CCF for 2 months and then they said the rate would go to a competitive variable rate after that. (Keep in mind a competitive variable rate by the Public Utilities of Ohio as of Dec 28th is .54 CCF to .70 CCF- Duke is charging .54 CCF). After the 2 month bait and switch they increased our rated from .44 CCF to .79 CCF so we decided to switch to another provider. After we cancelled they increased our rate from .79 CCF to 1.49 CCF or 3x the current variable rate for natural gas. They know they have you hooked because it takes 2-3 billing cycles to change carriers. This ended up costing us 129.00 more than what we should have paid which is not the end of the world but a bad business practice. If I can inform just a few others to read the reviews on PALMco before signing up with them I feel that the money we lost was worth something. Many utility companies will offer a fixed rate for 6 months to 3 years so don't do like I did and sign up with a company for only a 2 month introduction rate. Things I did not know- 1) Utility companies are certified but not regulated meaning they can charge you whatever they want after your fixes rate is over. 2) It takes 2-3 billing cycles to change your utility carrier. 3) PALMCO has so many complaints against them regarding the bait and switch as well as class action law suits. 4) PALMCO doesn't care about their customers they vocally say they cant please everyone, but its surprising to me that they can retain any of their customers. There are many utility companies out there. Please do your research before choosing PALMCO. read more

Palmco called me to have them as an electrical supplier instead of national grid. They started off at 8 cent and increased to 16 cents/kwh over the high electrical draw time of the summer. When I tried to change suppliers, it took over two billing cycles. I believe they blocked the transfer to the new supplier by say I had agreed to stay with them. I did not speak with them about the switch. The bill I received they increase the supply rate to 20 cents/kwh. Decide for yourself, but I would think twice about using them as an electrical supplier. read more

Came to our door here in CT and got us to sign up at a way lower rate, promising that their rate would ALWAYS be slightly lower than our electric company... 6 months later we got a letter saying our rates would stay the same(which was fine with me), but received the bill a few days later and our rates went from 8% to 28%!! Our normal electric company was never more than 12%. I called them and demanded a refund and presented the letter they had sent me, and only after an entire day of calling and going back and fourth arguing did they finally give me a partial refund. I canceled and they still tried to send me yet ANOTHER bill the following month. Fixing your energy costs CAN save money and provide certainty during periods of price volatility. But make sure you do your diligence and know what you are signing up for before entering into a contract with anyone. Based on these Yelp reviews and personal experiences of family members who unwittingly signed up with PalmCo, at best, they are engaged in deceptive marketing practices and are making false/misleading statements...which is illegal. Based on a quick Google search, it looks like they are getting sued in every market in which the operate...yet some how they are still cold calling people and going door-to-door selling their lies. This company is like any scammer, they are taking advantage of people's trust and lack of knowledge on energy deregulation. They should be ashamed of themselves, but i doubt these people care about their customers at all. But, please know, There are plenty of honest companies out there that sell energy...make sure your commodity price is fixed throughout the term and read the contract thoroughly. If you don't understand it, then seek legal help or don't enter into a contract. In addition, you may not save money after entering into a contract if the floating commodity charges from the incumbent utility go down (like they have been in many markets across the US). Just be careful and if you feel uncomfortable, stay with the incumbent utility. Companies like PalmCo do not have the same regulatory oversight as a utility. read more

I just moved to PA from NY and brought my Verizon FioS service over, sadly I had to change my phone number to a local one. This new phone number I got get spammed by calls from companies like Palmco and similar to the point that every day I get home there can be over 20 missed calls from these companies. It is nuts and on top of that if you use a service like nomorobo or straight up block the number, they'll just call you from a different number. This is straight up harassment and I don't see how can anyone trust any company with this kind of unscrupulous behavior. CURRENTLY SCAMMING IN OHIO. A representative knocked on my door and claimed that some people in my apartment complex had been overbilled by the Illuminating Company and were owed a rebate. They then asked to see a billing statement, getting name, address and customer number. They claim that they are affiliated in some way with the Illuminating Company, but they are not. They then call you IMMEDIATELY while the representative is still there. They get you on the phone and essentially coach you in how to respond to a series of questions that amount to you allowing them to switch your energy supplier to their company. They never tell you that that's what you're doing; it's all done under the pretense of verifying your rebate and/or fixing some kind of problem. On the phone they even ask the question, "has the representative left the premises?" They will simply claim that this is about them making sure they didn't actually enter your apartment (which was true since this all happened in the hallway) but I suspect it's to later try and claim that you weren't being coached or coerced on how to respond. You absolutely are being coached and coerced and lied to. The representative is right there next to you the whole phone-call giving you a thumbs-up or thumbs-down on how to respond. Once you've switched to them as your supplier, they can hike up the prices after two months and gouge you for money. Again, the representative never actually tells you any of this. They just coach you on how to respond to the phone-call, and it all happens very fast under the pretense that this is about having already been over-billed. Very sad and shady, tricking and stealing money from people. What's even sadder is that it's quite possible the door-to-door salespeople don't even know they're scamming people, as the company probably lies to them too about what their job is. They even deliberately mumble the name of their company (I heard "Jobco" on the phone initially) to try and keep you from figuring out what's going on. But some sleuthing after how shady this all was made it obvious who they were and what was going on. If you've been recently scammed by them in the same way, I advise you to talk to a representative with the Illuminating Company and make it clear that you do not want to switch to Palmco as a supplier and that the security of your customer account has been compromised. read more

Like everyone else here they came to the door acting like they were performing an update on our gas rates. They had a clipboard from Washington Gas (Our usual provider) and acted like they were working through them. They said they would lower our bill by 10 cents to start on a variable rate. Then they make you call in to their call line with the sales rep standing there and you have to give all your information. They then will run through all the legalize revealing that they are not affiliated in any way with the your usual service provider and if you ask them to clarify they will say that you need to call back later because your question has ruined their recording of your agreement. Really they just don't want you to ask questions during their final hard sell. When I asked what a fixed rate would look like they gave me a price 50% HIGHER than what I was currently paying and I could only get that if I signed up for a guaranteed year. That makes me think that they we're planning to go even higher with variable rates as everyone here has agreed. As everyone else is saying this is a massive scam and if you have fallen for it you should call in to cancel your agreement as soon as possible. read more

UPDATE: Got a call from the company saying sorry about my experience. I was surprised to receive a call, the lady was nice and talked curteously offering some discounts. I cancelled their service anyway and going back to my original provider. BIG SCAMMERS!! Be aware of PALMCO. My bill went up by 30% after first 2 months..just say NO to PALMCO if you receive the marketing calls. read more

Palmco is i the business to make money at all costs. They could care less about their customers. DO NOT SWITCH TO THIS COMPANY. I made this mistake 3 months ago and now my GAS bill is MORE THAN 2 TIMES PSE&G's cost. That translates to $300 per month rather than $123 per month. Needless to say, I have cancelled all contracts with them. They refused to refund any money on the basis that they CHARGE A VARIABLE RATE and it can be pretty much anything they want. read more
