Terrible company with borderline criminal actions. For those who don't want to read the entire review, they were directly responsible for causing our burner (at 11 mo. old) to spew carbon monoxide into our house while we slept, then declined any responsibility. I STRONGLY URGE YOU TO TAKE THE TIME TO READ THIS REVIEW. When we moved into our new house we needed to find an oil supplier, as you would expect. Decided to go with Palmer as a new oil tank had been installed we were switching over to and Palmer preaches about their commitment to safety. "Perfect, if anybody is going to be thorough with their inspection, it would likely be them" I thought. Sent a tech out to do the preliminary equipment inspection before our initial fill, as is the standard. After the inspection and during the fill of the tank the tech asks if I want him to prime the lines to the new tank, as he isn't doing much at the time. "Sure" I say. He proceeds to do so, and shows me a "trick" to do when priming to keep the burner from locking out. He opens the light sensing eye and shines a flashlight in to trick the burner into thinking it sees a flame, keeping it from a safety lockout. Afterwards there is some paper work to be filed, and check to be written. The tech then wishes me a "good day", hops in his van and takes off... well he never closed the eye cover! He flipped it closed, but forgot to tighten it down, screwing up the air/fuel ratio and causing it to run dangerously lean. That night we awoke to the carbon monoxide detector and a house that was so full of smoke, I could have easily been convinced it was on fire! I couldn't even see down the front hall. We evacuated immediately. Fast forward to the next day, Palmer won't even show up to see what happened until the fire dept. clears the house (completely understandable) so we go through getting a carbon monoxide inspection. Fire Dept. clears the house, Palmer shows up with a team of two, an apprentice, and an overly confident egotistical a$$ who Tells me that whatever happened, must have bee my fault before even checking the equipment. It is now 17* in our house and I'm left with a decision, try to fight this company in court while freezing to death for the next week (I had already called other companies to come out before Palmer, nobody could make it out until at least 5 days later), or have them do a complete clean of our burner to get the heat up and running (burner was so full of soot, I wouldn't have tried to start it in the middle of a field... this was a new burner installed 11 months prior). They preformed the work necessary to get our heat on, then charged me $270 for labor!!! On their F***up! I commend anybody who has made it this far into reading our story, you are clearly smarter than the average bear putting this much effort into your research. I hope you heed my warning and look for another supplier! Will they do fine as an oil supplier? Pumping oil in a tank is pretty fool proof, right? Yes, but if you look around there are other suppliers in the area with lower costs. Palmer charges slightly more $$ per gallon because they are "committed to safety" as they told me over the phone when I initially chose them... Well as you can see, that is so far from the truth, they cant even see it from where they stand. Not to mention, when things went wrong, they completely abandoned responsibility for their actions. Why would anyone want to support a company like that?? "But my buddy -insert name- has had good luck with them". Yeah, well several people in my neighborhood have too judging from the trucks I see driving through. Do you really want to take a chance with a company who charges more for oil, promising safety, then potentially end up like us? There was a strong possibility of us not waking up to that alarm... maybe not waking up at all! Are you really gonna listen to "Dan and Mary" up the street? Who "love Palmer" because the techs are "nice young men" and the office answers the phone with "how can I make your day awesome?". read more

Palmer Gas spent a few days at my house this week to install a whole-house generator. I am entirely pleased with the job "my team" delivered. It was easy to see that they each knew exactly what needed to be done - we had no issues, no surprises, no setbacks or delays. The Installers and the Electricians worked together with perfect choreography: each obviously understood not only his own role but the other's as well. My team included electricians Paul Lembo and Brendan Turko, and installers Tim Dupere, Dale Hastings and Ed Bucci. Each was pleasant and personable, and they were wonderful about answering all my questions - and I had a lot of questions. They were extremely patient with me and made sure I had all the information I needed. More significantly, they were conscientious enough to cover with me the things I didn't know enough to ask. On a practical level: The team arrived promptly and worked efficiently. They maintained excellent communication, keeping me informed of their progress and making sure I knew what to expect. They checked in with me every time they needed to cut power, being cognizant that I was working from home, to minimize disruptions in my day. They cleaned up their work area, leaving my house and my yard in fine condition. They finished a day earlier than expected. Again: I am entirely pleased with the job they've done. When the time comes for my next task (water heater) I will call on Palmer Gas again without hesitation. I would be happy to welcome back any of my generator team for any future work. read more

When the 20+ year old oil furnace failed in our house, we contacted Palmer Gas & Oil to replace it with a propane one. We had just received an oil delivery and it was requested to try to run the oil down to about a quarter of a tank. That was before the oil burner overheated and filled the basement with smoke. We contacted Palmer Gas and explained that it was going to be impossible to use up any more oil and we were offered an installation slot that came about because of a cancellation. We said that we would. That brought Brendon and Eddie into our house to install the new furnace. They explained to us the steps that they were going to take to remove the old furnace and insure that we would have a domestic hot water supply. As the removal continued it was apparent that they were skilled craftsmen. It had been determined that the new furnace would be installed in an area that was somewhat cramped but would allow us to use the basement as an adjunct living area of the house. These two men were able to configure the new furnace and all that we needed to heat the house, the pool and the domestic hot water in that small space. I can't recommend these two installers from Palmer Gas highly enough. They were professional and genial answering whatever question that we asked and when the job was completed, they took the time to label the various parts of the new system for clarity for us as the users. We had been with our former Propane company for 15 years and for many reasons it was time for a change. From my very first phone call to Palmer Gas & Oil I was impressed. The customer service team was very polite and enthusiastic, the sales representative was courteous, enthusiastic, and very personable. It turns out that we had to have our propane tank replaced as it was old and failing. Palmer made the transition one of the smoothest dealings l've ever experienced, and that is no exaggeration. On the day that the tank was to be replaced, we had the team of Pete, Brad, and Richie. as I watched out the windows at the work that they were doing, I was in disbelief at how hard and careful they worked. They were not looking at their phones, they were not taking breaks, they were very much committed and interested in the project. When it came time to hook up the new lines and meters Rick and Bruno took over and to my amazement they were just as good. They were super helpful, knowledgeable, professional, and Customer service skills that you don't see a lot of anymore. The project ended exactly as planned. We are so pleased with how they left our yard. They brought in fresh loam and even re-seeded everywhere that they had brought their heavy equipment. I have used Palmer Gas & Oil as my energy provider for 5+ years now and I could not be more satisfied with their Personnel, Service and company Culture. Originally in 2016, they converted my Oil Furnace to Propane and since then they have installed a fireplace log set and most recently (Oct. '21) they ran a new propane line and installed a Jutol B-Vent propane stove in my garage office area. Their professionalism, technical competence and attention to detail is in stark comparison to my previous energy supplier. My last interaction with Palmer Gas was particularly impressive as they had to deal with several pop-up issues connected with installing equipment provided by another company. There were several technical challenges that they resolved that easily could have delayed or possibly impaired my project to acquire a supplemental heat source. In particular, I would like to recognize David Middleton who oversaw the recent overall stove effort which began with a discussion we had back in April, 2021. Secondly, my propane delivery professional (who has provided 9 of 11 deliveries) Larry Peruilo was recognized by Palmer recently as "Delivery Person of the Year". Anyone who interacts with Larry can appreciate the justification of that award. We have our propane services through Palmer Gas & Oil for the past 3 years and I have never had a single complaint. On the contrary, they have always provided prompt service, they automatically refill our tanks and leave us a slip on our door and also email us an electronic receipt. I've won Ski Lift tickets from their ongoing raffles and they even have a fun filled customer appreciation event every year that our family loves to attend. They have always been amazing but suprisingly today after 3 years of service was the first time we ever met someone from the company, because we usually can get them right away on the phone (Best part no automated voice command system, you don't have to talk to a machine - you get a representative right away!) and they service our tanks throughout the day when we are at work. We needed to have our tanks moved since the deck is being refinished, and today the nicest service technician I've ever met by the name of Rick came to our home and moved our tanks free of charge. Meeting Rick really made me want to take a moment to acknowledge what an amazing company Palmer Gas is from their customer phone representatives, to their technicians, to all the wonderful things they do for their clients. I recently had the pleasure of working with Jason from Palmer Gas & Oil for some electrical work in my home, and I couldn't be more impressed with the service provided. From start to finish, the experience was seamless and professional. Punctuality and Professionalism: Jason arrived well within the scheduled window and was both courteous and respectful throughout the process, making it comfortable and hassle-free. We have been a customer of Palmer Gas and Oil since they were Ermer Oil (2002). They have always been very accommodating in providing the best rate for oil and in delivering oil in a timely manner. We have NEVER run out of oil in all those years. Also, they have a nice points program based on the number of gallons purchased which can be applied to services. It's nice to have choices on how to purchase Oil such as pre-buy, budget, and pay as you go with discounts for paying within 10 days. This past year we had them install an on demand generator which uses propane gas. We were able to apply points to that purchase. The sales person and the installers were wonderful people who were very knowledgeable and helpful in explaining how the generator operates. When I call the company, everyone is extremely polite and willing to help with whatever I need. As senior citizens we feel very fortunate to know that we can rely on Palmer Gas and Oil to keep us warm with regular oil deliveries. For the past 10 years we have been a customer of Palmer Gas & Oil on Hall Farm Rd, Atkinson, NH. I can't say enough about how pleased we are that we chose them to provide propane fuel and services to us. A number of years ago we purchased two fireplace stoves from Palmer Gas for our home in Pelham, NH. We finally had to have service on one of them this year. The technician who arrived was very polite, knowledgable and diagnosed the problem very quick. The part was ordered that day & within a very short time the same technician returned & had the fireplace working like new again. One other thing I noticed that whether its the propane truck delivering fuel or the technician driving the service truck, the vehicles are always clean & in good shape. My last comment is, once a year in the spring they have a customer appreciation day at their location in Atkinson, NH. Its an afternoon of lots of food, games, prizes, & entertainment. I'm a new propane customer in Atkinson. Recently we installed a 10Kw Kohler generator. Dealing with the Palmer sales and office was a smooth experience as we needed documentation to have our condo association approve the installation. After several weeks our installation occurred. The company sent emails alerting me the name of the installers who would do the install. On the scheduled day the electric and gas installers arrived as scheduled, four employees. Throughout the day they needed access to the house and used shoe covers to avoid tracking in dirt. I was most impressed with how well they worked together. They were exceedingly polite, courteous and answered the many questions I posed about the function of various components. They spoke highly about the company, describing it as a growing company with a small business feel, a company that was great to work for. By the end of the day the generator was installed and tested with a final walk through provided to answer any final questions. Palmer exceeded my expectations with customer service, installation of a Generac generator & propane tanks placement on property with concern of looks and accessibility. Training and knowledge of my new unit was incredible showing me in detail every aspect of the installation and how to maintain what I'm responsible for. I made numerous phone calls about many unknown issues and each time I spoke with a live person and return calls came quickly with answers. Billing was a breeze handling accounts with no issues. We are very happy with Palmer Gas & Oil. Kevin came out and assessed our property to provide an estimate, and he was very personable and helpful answering all our questions. Josh & Peter came out to install propane tanks for our generator. And then Cory & another technician were here again hooking things up after the inspection/permit. Things were done in a timely, professional manner, and we are happy with the job. We have an anxious dog that can't be outside when other people are here, and we asked if they would text/call prior to coming onto the property so we could secure our dog. Technicians needed to come back a few times between the initial install, the inspection for a permit, filling the tanks, etc., and each time they accommodated our request for a text/call prior, which we were grateful for. for a company that says it's the best around I beg to differ. First they bombard you with great deals to become auto delivery so every month your tanks are filled no matter what your level so that you owe them every month regardless. Should you not opt for automatic deliveries, their new rule started in 2018 demand that yfirst ou call when your tanks are at 40%! Have been a customer with them for twenty years with just a few problems. However over the last two years have seen a big drop in service and care for their customers , Using myself as an example not an auto delivery customer had both tanks filled on Jan, 21 left for Florida. had someone check property once in awhile and tank levels on last call I was informed my levels were down to 25% .Ordered a minimum fill March 2 , believing delivery would be during the next week,, as of today March 8th no delivery. Called and was told delivery would be on March 11 no explanation.My fault for not ordering at 40% , Tanks are now at 0 with very cold weather. They care? Buullshit. read more

This morning, I had the pleasure of meeting Kyle, who came to my house to carry out a gas inspection, and to troubleshoot a pilot light issue with my gas fireplace. As is the way with Palmer Gas, Kyle was exactly on time. His greeting was warm and sincere, and he was ready to go! He completed his checks briskly and efficiently, and presented his paperwork, along with his use, maintenance, and safety guidelines for the fireplaces. He was quick to find the problem with the non-lighting fireplace, and fixed it easily. For the hour or so that he was here, he maintained a very professional manner, and spoke about gas and gas-related business at length. Honestly, he is a very knowledgeable technician, and I gained quite a few handy tips for use around the house. I really appreciated the time that Kyle spent here, and am very grateful to him for the repair that he carried out. Palmer Gas have a star of an employee here. I purchased a Cummins generator from a local company two years ago. Four months after the warranty on parts and labor ran out, the generator began throwing out low oil pressure fault codes after a service. After several visits, it was determined that it would be necessary to remove that generator and ship it back to Cummins. The unit itself was covered but not shipping and labor, the estimated cost approximately $1,000. Fortunately for me, I received a phone call from Palmer Gas (my propane delivery company). They had just initiated a new service, generator maintenance. I placed a call and received a service appointment approximately a week later. The technician was very knowledgeable, friendly and polite. He showed me what he was doing. He discovered the oil pressure switch was disconnected on one end and only hand tightened at the block end.
