Ciardelli Fuel Company

After 15 years as a loyal customer with Ciardelli Fuel Company, I've sadly switched providers due…read moreto recent issues. For years, I paid around $4.79/gallon for propane with no problems. Then I saw Dead River advertising $2.39/gallon. When I called Matt about matching a better rate, he initially offered $3.79, and only matched Dead River's price after I said I was leaving. The final straw was a boiler service call: The tech replaced a thermocouple, but the issue persisted. Turns out, one of our two tanks (which they've filled for years) was empty--they forgot to fill the main house tank. We were without heat and hot water during a big family gathering from out of town. As a 'will-call' customer, I was told emergency delivery would cost extra, though they provided 100 gallons as a 'courtesy.' Worst part: The thermocouple wasn't faulty; the problem was the empty tank. Yet they still charged the full service fee for diagnosing their own delivery mistake. I've switched to Dead River (along with several friends and even some Ciardelli employees I've heard from). It's disappointing--wanted to support a local, family-owned business, but I felt treated more like a profit source than a valued long-term customer. Matt & Andrew: Please do better for your loyal clients and staff.

Since the acquisition by Superior what was once a great company has now sunken into the abyss…read more Every interaction is not without extreme inconvenience to the customer. I tried to use the online portal to request a delivery which used to take a few minutes, today I was forced to call for a delivery because their estimate was that I had only 7% in my tank when I have between 25 - 30%. I am now sitting here waiting in a queue for no good reason except to punish those who are not on auto delivery. Once this season is over, your tank in gone and I will own my own. Goodbye and good riddance Inferior Propane.

In December of 2024 Rymes replaced our 50+ year oil tank. Shortly thereafter we began to…read moreexperience cycling issues with our 4 year old furnace. After many attempts by 3 different furnace repair companies (including Rymes) to accurately diagnose the cycling issue and therefor successfully conduct the repair, we struck gold with Eagle Pride Heating and Cooling. Josh from Eagle Pride discovered excessive sludge in the burner of our furnace which caused the on and off (cycling) issue. It appears that when our new oil tank was installed by Rymes, the oil which was in the old tank either was not put thru a filtration process OR not filtered adequately before being pumped into our new oil tank, hence the sludge. A filter was installed at the base of the new oil tank and we were given 3 bottles of WP-3 one bottle to be emptied into the oil tank upon our next three oil deliveries. Beginning February 18th I made several attempts to speak with a Representative at Rymes to discuss our issue via phone and then by certified letter. After 60 days I was finally promised a full refund for our out of pocket expenses which was in excess of $500.00, to repair our furnace by " Jessica" a Rymes Representative. Three weeks later and no refund as promised, I spoke with Scott Giguere, Area Operations Manager at Rymes who promised to "be on top" of my refund and get back to me three days later which would be Friday April 17th. Ten minutes before the end of the workday on April 17th, having not heard from Scott, I called Rymes and asked to speak with him. I was told Scott was busy and would return my call very first thing on Monday, April 20th which is today. It is now past 3:00 PM and CRICKETS, no contact from Scott. I have been a customer of Rymes since it was Fred Fuller for over 30 years. Since it has been acquired by Superior Plus Propane it has become in my personal experience and personal opinion, disreputable. The representatives make commitments that are not upheld. When I asked for a number for their Corporate office, I was told there was not one. The two times in which they returned my call, the number came through as unidentified and when I scrolled back through my incoming calls I was unable to view the number from which they called. It is very cloak and dagger. What kind of business does not know the number of their corporate office and blocks the number from which they are calling?? Since Rymes appears to have no qualms making bogus promises to a senior citizen on a fixed income, I have contacted the BBB of New Hampshire and filed a formal complaint. I encourage anyone that has experienced an issue with Rymes as I have, to reach out to the Better Business Bureau of New Hampshire and file a complaint. You can also file a complaint with the Consumer Protection Division of the New Hampshire Attorney General, which is my next step if I do not receive my promised refund. FUTURE CUSTOMERS BEWARE!!!!

When we called about this we were told that they had tried calling and the voicemail was full, which apparently means they are able to make the executive decision to deliver and charge for a service that wasn't requested. The day of the un-requested delivery, we told them we will not be paying for it and they can come drain it. They had to review everything and discuss with their supervisors - fine. The first call back (not from a supervisor) the woman admitted it was an error on their end and when we again said we will not be paying for it said "can we at least set up a payment plan?" Again, no - you can come drain it and again "we will call you back." No call back for hours, so we reach out again and "manager is reviewing and will reach out tomorrow. 9:30am - still nothing so we call again and are told the manager will reach out later. Finally get a call around 11:30am today from presumably the owner. He states yet again that it was an issue on their end (they signed us up for automated refills and their system notified them it was likely time for a refill) We have a 275 gallon tank, they added 144.9 gallons. I'm no mathematician, but I'm pretty sure that means we still had 130 gallons. After stating again, I will not be paying, I was offered a whole $75 discount. When I again stated that we will not be paying for it and they can come drain it, I was told to "stop getting so worked up," and "it's not like it leaked and my house caught fire," or "there are worse things that could be happening like being diagnosed with cancer and having one week to live." Well sir, you have no idea what is going in other people's lives. And I will leave it at that.

After the delivery McLaughlin submitted a POS charge to my checking account for $778.76. So either they charge $7.78 a gallon for oil, or they fit 317 gallons of oil into my 175 gallon oil tank (that was 1/4 full.) I'm inclined to believe they didn't achieve a miracle. It's more likely they billed me three times what I owed them and hoped I wouldn't notice. You may consider doing business with a different company.
