Having had to travel for a good part of my career I have stayed in many B& B's. This place will stay in my top 10 for sure and definitely hope to make the pilgrimage at least once a year. The hostess and her husband are amazing people and in the conversations had you can tell they are very genuine and have a love for the place. The filets were crispy and tasty, but not genuine English fish & chips. Our server was young and inexperienced (didn't know what a pale ale or IPA was), but was very attentive and cheerful. An older gentleman, who may have been the bartender, came to our table and gave us an oral history of the building, its owners and various quirks. The only drawback was all the stairs. It's not ADA accessible getting to and from the pub, where we had our reservations. There was a full flight of stairs to go down from the main floor. It was recommended that we leave through the back door to avoid the stair case. Outside, on the terrace, there were some low steps and no handrail to get to the path leading to the parking lot. No one using a wheelchair or walker can access the pub. The building itself, the decor, and outside grounds are beautiful. The gardens are lovely.

We wanted to make the morning not so early so found this B&B that turned out to be a gem. Dave, the proprietor, went above and beyond to accommodate us. We stayed in the Boone Lodge with our 2 kids. We had a great time playing billiards (with The Princess Bride playing in the background), taking a hot tub (with attendant snowball fight and double dog dare swimsuit snow angels), and falling asleep to a roaring fire (but not before Dave brought freshly baked chocolate chip cookies). Dave has a background in law enforcement and as a medic...and tends to a small flock of rescues, which endeared him to our daughter who wants to be a vet. The hotel is in a pleasant and charming neighborhood in close proximity to Hillsdale College and downtown. The grounds are well kept and welcoming. Check in was a breeze and our room was perfect. Some of the rooms do share common bathrooms, but this was expected and fine with us. Back in the day most of Europe was like this and we were used to it. The common areas were clean and cozy, other guests were fun to chat with and the "guest Haas" feeling was welcoming. The continental breakfasts were light and fresh, more than adequate. Overall a wonderful stay at a reasonably priced Inn, the service was way above any place we have stayed in years.
