Loved the hot tub in our room and the beautiful sleigh bed. There is a private balcony off the room but it was January so we just looked out the windows to see the grounds. I understand they have beautiful gardens and walking paths in this 26 acre paradise. The home was still beautifully decorated for Christmas so that was a treat. I was there for a business meeting that required an overnight stay. I arrived at 12 noon and asked…read moreif I could check in early, and was told I could, but for a $40 fee. In my 30+ years of travel, I have never had this happen to me. Normally, it's not a problem, or if the room is not ready, the front desk offers to contact me when it is. I kindly declined and decided to wait until I was done with my meeting at 5pm. Immediately after I checked in, I noticed a smell in the hallway, which I thought was from cigarettes. The smell continued into my room, which had me concerned. I did not say anything and went to dinner. Eventually, I returned and turned out the lights at 10:30 pm. At 1:30 am, I woke up to a much intensified smell that I could not get past. It was awful, and was now keeping me awake. I called the front desk to see if smoking was allowed, and she said it was not. I had no choice other than to ask for a different room in a different wing. The person on the phone was annoyed and told me I had to pack my bags, exit the room, and go to the front desk, at which time a new room could be issued. There was no apology, no offer for help to move my bags, and certainly, no sense of understanding of how disruptive this was. A new key was issued, and I was now on the second floor, further away from where I had come from. I had three bags with me, and there was no offer for assistance or apology. I made it to the second-floor room, and the key did not work. I returned to the front desk with all three bags. No apology, no concern for all the walking around with three bags, just a reprogram of the key. She said it should work. I don't understand how/why a customer satisfaction issue like this did not prompt any concern on her part. I eventually got into my room and tried to wind down from everything that had just taken place. The room did not have the same smell, but I could still smell whatever it was on my clothes. Eventually, I fell asleep but woke up again at 4:30 with the same smell, just as bad as before. I was furious. This was a complete waste of a night of sleep. I dealt with it until 6:00am, where I then packed my bags and left in frustration. A new representative was at the front desk and asked if I was checking out. I said yes, gave her the keycard, and politely asked if they had ever had complaints of a smell in the rooms. She would not look up and kept her head down. She said not that she was aware of. I asked that she let management know of my experience, which she said she would. She did not offer any kind of apology on behalf of the hotel. I will be back in the area for future meetings; however, I will not return to this hotel. There are so many hotel options in this area, and I'm shocked that they can get away with this.

The manager, Connie was not even on site when things went wrong, takes your money, then charges you more then disappears. not helpful at all. I would not recommend this venue. She may be better with other type groups, but weddings are not her thing. The bride should not have to fold napkins, some of which were dirty, on her wedding day. I am certain there are much better venues to look at.

Connie was very helpful and always quick to respond to any questions I had during the event planning process. We also had the bonus of beautiful weather that da so our group was able to enjoy lunch outside on the patio. That was a fun change of pace from our typical meeting lunch breaks. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and cooked fresh. Al even showed us around a bit before we left. We will definitely be back to stay again.
