Chris assisted us with our luggage. Dana fixed wonderful breakfasts and accommodated my food sensitivities. We enjoyed it so much that we booked an additional night at the end of our trip before flying out of Grand Rapids the following day. The home has very nice common areas and both rooms we stayed in were clean and had amenities like refrigerators, microwaves and keurig machines. There is good off-street parking in back of the home. They were both helpful in answering our travel questions as well. We would love to stay here again on our next visit!

A week before our stay, we received another email letting us know that she had ants. Yuck. After that email, we called to request a cancellation in which Kara hung up on us. Hm. We contacted the third-party that we booked our reservation to help us cancel, but were informed that only Kara could cancel and she was refusing to do so. After contacting her again and trying to cancel, she hung up on us again and told us were were silly to be worrying about ants. We couldn't believe that we still had to stay here, but didn't want to forfeit our $450 for the weekend and felt obliged to stay there. When we showed up to check in, the door was locked. Strange, but OK since it's a small place. After knocking for a few minutes, we called Kara several times to no answer. We then texted her, and nothing. After waiting for almost an hour in the rain, we decided to call our credit card company to dispute the charge, then booked at another hotel in the same area. Thankfully, our credit card company refunded the charge but warning to other travelers- find somewhere else!

But I also think that there were a few flaws regarding the space and I'll lay them out here. First and foremost, you pay a premium to be in this space, both in the form of a cover ($10, nothing insane) and an apparent tariff on the drinks (maybe it's handling fees for hauling it all up so high?). Either way, you should expect to be a bit gouged for cash. Not all of the drinks are insane, but mixed drinks are pricey, and some of their "signature" drinks top $12. Now, initially, this might seem like a fair trade: a bit extra for high quality drinks and a higher quality view. But here's the rub: it's a small space, it's packed, and the edge seats go first. For me and my group to enjoy the breathtaking view of Kalamazoo, we would have to stand or share tables. It's difficult to blame them for being popular. That being said, I don't really feel like we received the main feature of the venue. A friend of mine put it sagely: it's a great date spot, or celebration, but you don't go their to drink. You go there for the experience. Therefore, this won't become one of my "regular spots." My first time at Nuance Naturist was better then I could have ever imagined. The environment was calming, safe and absolutely beautiful. We loved swimming in the pond, using the movie theater, solarium and having an incredible breakfast with a view on the deck every morning. Bill, Jan and the other guests staying there were all very kind, accepting and positive. We felt so comfortable around everyone and that made the experience even that much more wonderful. For a first time Naturist - I don't think we could have had a better experience. This place is a hidden Gem. Thanks Bill and Jan for everything! We can't wait to return.

I came here yesterday for a friend's bridal shower. I found out later they have two event venues, the greenhouse (where we were) and the old pickle factory, in the back. The greenhouse was very nice and held up well for our party of 30 or so. The pickle factory can apparently seat up to 250, according to The Millhaven's website. This venue would have been 5 out of 5 stars for me except for one reason: I'm pregnant and I have Crohn's, and the bathroom choices for the greenhouse or either to go inside, and you have to go past the cash register and into the kitchen, or to the pickle factory which was like a 1-minute walk. I couldn't find the pickle factory until the end of my friend's event, and when I did see it, it was very nice, with extremely modern bathrooms - I believe the space is newish, because my friend said when she originally visited The Millhaven, it wasn't even built yet. I would consider holding an event in either space though because both were very unique, and service was great, as well. I had never been to Marshall before - my friend and most of us in attendance live in the Metro Detroit area - and the downtown looked very cute, as well.
