First time here and it didn't disappoint. I ordered catfish with Brussels sprouts and corn on a cob. We also rested chicken wrap and chicken tenders and tater tots. The tater tots were so good--crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. You can order food at your table or through the register. For awareness, I doordashed this. I was super excited to try their Mac n cheese based off the pictures from reviews and their website but it did not live up to my expectations. TikTok did it again. There's an influencer by the name of Olivia Culver who was singing high praises about the Chicken Caesar salad wrap (and from the video it did look delicious) so I stopped by yesterday to try them. When you get into the parking lot you'll notice Palmer's is surrounded by a lot of new, trendy retail shops and food spots. It's really close to a grocery store & is only minutes from NorthPark, Greenville Ave etc so you could really make it an all day affair. What's cool is Palmer's has plenty of options for seating, catering to those who love a view and want to sit outside but also has plenty of room inside for those who prefer a more intimate feel. The decorations are modern but eye catching (and picture worthy lol) without being overstimulating. When it comes to the food.....deep sigh. I ordered the fried chicken caesar salad wrap w/regular fries. I would've ordered the cheese fries Olivia had in her video but because I ordered to go I opted out. Since I've never been to a hot chicken spot I also wanted to try and got their infamous Nashville hot chicken. In total I spent $22. When the order came out and I opened the boxes everything looked mouth watering good. However, I will say the wrap was over stuffed with lettuce & had the smallest amount of caesar dressing so overall was underwhelming and dry. Whenever you make a wrap of any sort you need something to serve as a binder (cheese, sauce etc) to keep it from falling apart, but as you'll see in my pics and videos there was none of that so it turned into a salad after two bites. It's just wild because not even two weeks ago I had a grilled chicken caesar wrap from AMC Mesquite, and was surprised at how good that was for theatre food, so imagine my surprise when I thought I was going to get something 10x better and it fell flat. Anyway I tried to let it go because I had also ordered the Nashville hot chicken & surely Palmer's would redeem themselves through their signature item, but I'm more than certain they were using old grease as that's all I could taste when I bit into it. I still tried to eat it as I don't like wasting food or money, but it just wasn't agreeing with me. The hard lesson I learned is sometimes what looks good can still be misleading & no two people have the same palate, but experiences like these are part of the process of trying new places to find the next best bite. The restaurant is very trendy. There is a large indoor dining area with a full bar (2 TVs playing sports) and counter service order. The entrance has an enclosed patio. The patio had 2 TVs playing sports, and plenty of seating for those who would like to sit in the area with the patio windows open. I had the catfish which was bland . You could tell the flour didn't have any seasoning in it and fish wasn't seasoned either. Do yourself a favor and try the collard greens! The greens were very good. The portion is more than enough.. Palmer's is always a great place to come to anytime but on a Friday night, they weren't extremely packed and we were able to order and find seating right away. Their chicken is always fresh and delicious and served piping hot and I'm not just talking about the spice. I got the three piece jumbo chicken tender combo, Nashville spice level and for my sides I got the collard greens and pimento cheese grits. The first thing I dug into were those grits and they are so creamy and good, that pimento cheese gives them such a wonderful sharp cheddar cheese flavor and they are perfectly salted. The chicken tenders are huge, freshly made and super juicy, the Nashville spice level is perfect because you get some really good heat but not to the point to where it burns your stomach. I got my tender so plenty of ranch to cool down the heat and the ranch dressing is also really delicious as well. The collard greens were pretty good, they are a little bit sweeter than I care for them to be but it was not a deal-breaker, they are still good overall and not so sweet to where they were inedible. Absolutely loved their selection! The dark meat entree is HUGE. For some reason, I didn't think one would be enough but it's ginormous. Anyway, onto the positives! The batter is on the thicker side with a nice crunch. I personally felt like if I kept eating it, the fat would actually clog my blood vessels. So, unfortunately, I couldn't pig out all the way. The hot chicken is very delicious. There are different hotness levels so you can go hotter if you desire. The tater tots were actually my favorite part of the meal set. They're crunchy and very flavorful without the use of condiments. Also you get a lot of tater tots that it will fill you up. Well that stuff was "drink alot of water and let is rest in your mouth before swallowing hot" it was very very good though but after 2 pieces i was like nope why am i doing this to myself. I came up there and spoke to Hannah told her I need to order something less hot. My husband had medium and his actually had red seasoning on it so now I am really convinced my order from last time was nowhere near hot which led me to think maybe nothing here is hot. I showed her the pic on my yelp review form last order she confirmed that was def not hot, she took care of my hot order. All the food was great, my family loved it. Finally tried the waffles they were perfect. I am so glad my experience got turned upside down. What a great place for Gluten-Free catfish with a bite. You can get it as spicy as you like. I loved it. However, we made our order at the table, but it only allows you use Apple Pay so I had to still go to the counter to place the order. No biggie, only the price at the counter was different from the price at the table. Apparently they offered discounts on their app which they don't offer at the counter. After we got that corrected, we waited for our drinks. The first drink an Elijah Craig old-fashioned came and we waited for the others.. after a trip to the counter, we reminded them we had beer and wine as well. They apologized profusely. My husband's beer came out correctly, but my wine came out as a glass of red. Let him know that we had ordered a bottle. He apologize again and returned with a bottle of red, which we reminded him was supposed to be a bottle of Chardonnay. And all was very about it. The food came out on time everything was ordered and delicious. We like it so much that we have added this into our regular rotation and highly recommend it . Chicken must have came right out of the grease because when I dug into it with my fork, nothing but steaming goodness came out. The food was on point and so was the icy Froze'. My daughter and I got the motherclucker sandwich. When I took my first bite, a big orange blob fell out of my sandwich. Looks like it was cheese, offputting cold cheese. It was too thick and creamy and threw off the whole sandwich. Maybe it would have been better if they took the time to melt the cheese? We had to scrape out the orange blob and we were still struggling to finish the sandwich. A nice juicy chicken would have saved the sandwich but the chicken itself was dry. My daughter could only eat half her sandwich. Something acidic like a slaw would have been a much better choice to balance out the sandwich. Decided to check out a new place for fish this past Sunday, so I stumbled upon Palmer's. They offer Nashville hot chicken, fish, and shrimp. I was excited to check out a place that offers hot fish! I ordered fish with the second lowest heat (novice) along with pimento cheese fries and mac and cheese--and after waiting just a few minutes, our food came to us at our table. The fish was delicious as were the pimento cheese fries, but the mac and cheese was the real surprise! It's some of the best I've ever had, possibly the best!!! Another surprise was how good the waffle was! It's very soft and not dry whatsoever! What I will say is that I wish I got a hotter heat with the fish. Being from New Orleans, I should have known better to get the second hottest heat (which I ended up doing after we ate this a second time, and it was so much better). The place is clean inside, and service was great! This definitely has a lively feel to it, and it probably thrives on a Friday/Saturday night despite not many people being there. It's amazing... the staff is always helpful, attentive, and kind. I always get the 3 jumbo tender meal with level 3 (Nashville) spice and it comes with two sides. I get double fries and share the meal with my boyfriend. We spend $22 on two drinks basically two meals and a waffle. Not a huge fan of the Mac and cheese. Just kinda meh compared to the chicken and fries. My favorite place for a quick bite. Def check it out. Went in today. They are having a event today and the wife of Palmer came over to my boyfriend and I and gave us fun stickers with their logo and "feed me chicken and tell me I'm pretty" also a %20 off an entree coupon. Upon entering it felt like a typical chicken joint to me; with a covered patio and indoor seating available and bar. I ordered the Big Dark in Nashville and the Napalm (Nashville and Carolina reaper) with Mac and cheese and Brussel sprouts. The waiter always sends out the disclaimer: no refunds when customers order. Folks will try to return it because they've 'chicken'd out' . Hehehe! Not me and my man though! I can't believe it but I actually enjoyed it all the while guzzling water like I've never drank it in my life. Both spice levels were seasoned to perfection and so crunchy and flavorful!
