Where do I even start? This is my 2nd visit. 1st visit I got the cherry soaked ribs with a cherry garnish. When I tell you they are some of the BEST ribs Ive ever had! I ain't lyin... They are fall off the bone tender, with a lot of meat on them bones and a good amount of seasoning. The mac & chz was SO good! Perfect amount of seasoning, amazingly CHEESY....Green onion sprinkled ontop so if you don't like that, they are happy to leave it off. 2nd visit. I got the ribs again (thats how good they are!), collards, mac and chz (for the husband this time lol) and the kool-aid. The collards are perfectly seasoned with a rich dark broth. Nothing needed to be added, salt,pepper, nothing! My cousin had the brisket. It had a beautiful smoke ring and char. Seasoned perfectly. You can see the seasoning. Perfect mix of fat and lean ratio. She had the same side as I did. Now, to the show stopper.... The KOOL-AID! It was hands down the BEST kool-aid Ive ever tasted. I never liked kool-aid because it would be so watery. Not this! It was dark red, with a fruit punch flavor and just the right amount of sugar! Do not leave that building without a kool-aid I'll be back to try their other menu items soon! read more

So my sister has been coming to this barbecue place for a very long time. It used to be a. I think. She said the gentleman used to have his own truck or something, but anyway, now he has a restaurant there in Garland, it's really cool. The food is phenomenal. The food is delicious. One of the best barbecue places that I've been to is around downtown Garland, not in the square, kind of about two blocks away from the square, but when I went, I had a barbecue sandwich, which was delicious. I had a dessert, which was great. I think he was also featured at the state fair of Texas as well, but if you wanna try some good barbecue in Garland, try them out, I guarantee you'll love them. read more

Its damn hard to find a good BBQ spot near you especially when there are so many around. This spot. This spot right here has to be one of the greatest BBQ spots i've ever been too. The service is top notch. Every time i walk in im greeted and asked how my day is going before placing my order. Sometimes those little interactions really count. Onto the food. While i havent had most of the things on the menu because im a simple dude i love brisket, pulled pork and mac n cheese. It gets me right every time and this place gets it RIGHT every single time. I dont know who came up with the recipe for the mac n cheese but it is so so good. I wish i could purchase it every day. The brisket is thick sliced and very tender. Seasoned to perfection and the onions and pickles added in add a nice little tip to the flavor when you put them together. The pulled pork i had was also season very well. Im pretty sure i need to mix it up and go for some of the other menu items at some point but from what i normally get alone, Mr Smith definitely makes his food with time and care and doesnt do a rush job. I hope more and more people find this place and help him grow so he can get a bigger spot down the line. 10/10 recommend this place. read more

I was so excited to try Smith's Spot BBQ when my husband shared a post about it on Instagram with me. When we arrived, there was a long line but it moved along fairly quickly. The restaurant isn't very big and there were a lot of families and couples there, the ambience was really nice although the music was a bit too loud for the small space. My husband and I both got sandwiches, I also got the mac and cheese to go with mine and I ordered the Kool-Aid to drink. The brisket had some wonderful smoke to it and the perfect amount of seasoning on the bark, they sprinkle a bit of Lawry's seasoned salt on it before serving which isn't a bad touch either. The macaroni and cheese was probably a three out of five stars because it didn't have much flavor and I was hoping it would have been baked with the golden brown cheese on top, it wasn't bad by any means, but it wasn't overly impressive either. Service seemed a little slow considering everything was already cooked and they are basically just assembling the plates as they are ordered but since they have just opened, I'm sure they are still working out the kinks as they go along. The space has a nice patio outside but it was a little chilly and super windy that day so we chose to sit inside. The inside space has a small stage which will be nice whenever they have any sort of live music performances and I'm definitely looking forward to going back! read more

So, I almost hate to review these guys because I hate waiting in long lines for bbq and it's just a matter of time before he has lines going around the block without any help from me. But here we go. This place has damn good bbq. Period. It will hold its own against Hutchins, Pecan Lodge, and quite frankly might best them because this pit master is not scared to show his skill by breaking tradition a bit and putting his own spin on his Q. So, I have eaten here twice now. The bbq is legit. He serves his brisket sliced thickly, most places cant do this because their brisket is not tender enough. This brisket is tender, juicy, and flavorful enough that it would almost be shameful to use sauce on it. He slices it nearly an inch thick and it still pulls apart perfectly. Seriously, his brisket is on point and Im a bbq snob. The ribs are outstanding and smoked to perfection. He has concocted a very subtle yet very flavorful cherry glaze. The ribs and that glaze are for real. Screw convention, I want more of those cherry glazed ribs! I started craving them again on the drive home. They are for real. Not the usual offering in Texas bbq but man they are good. And I love to see pit masters show off their skill by stepping out of the box every now and then. Simply put. The ribs are on point enough you will never forget them. Mac and cheese is good! But what I really loved was the greens. Man those greens are good. I could make a meal out of those greens alone. I write this having just returned from diner there. And Im already finding myself looking at the fridge where 4 more of those cherry glazed ribs are that I smuggled home. Ordered The Mel sandwich, 1/4 ribs, Mac and cheese, peach cobbler, and BB King loaded potato for delivery. It's a testament to just how well done everything is when the ribs were still fall off the bone after the drive. I'd say, for my tastes I prefer Hutchins and Terry Black a tiny bit because of their charring and bbq sauce BUT this is really good bbq and for an absolute steal. Even with delivery and tips, it was almost half the price of either. Honestly impressed, even Hutchins and Terry Black can miss the mark on a few things but everything I've had was great. First time at this place last Sunday and I'm happy to say it was the best sliced Brisket I've ever had. Great SPG rub and amazing color and bite. So good, you'll never need to sauce it. Looking forward to returning 2,3,4 times and see if its consistent. Will definitely try the Grilled Cheese Brisket on Texas Toast sandwich next time. Very interesting sides. Saw a post on ND about this restaurant and it did not disappoint! I went on a Friday around 4:30pm bc I hoped it would be slow. I picked up 2 brisket and sausage sandwiches and a grilled cheese/brisket, Mac n cheese and collard greens. Then I decided we needed to try the ribs too! The food was amazing! Garland you are in trouble now. I don't know and don't care if he/they are still in Dallas, BUT he is currently open in Garland just on Sundays for now. This small place stays full, packed to the gills. Most know, get it and go so you can be messy at home. Some stay and rub the goodness in to those in line. read more

My husband and I came here a few months ago and we absolutely loved it. We were thrilled to see another bbq joint pop up in downtown Garland. We're overdue for another visit! The moist brisket was truly perfect -- the cut I got was juicy but not too fatty. The mac n cheese is REAL mac n cheese. Cheesy, saucey but thick, delicious -- everything you expect in a side with your bbq. I really loved the flavor and smokiness of the green beans but I felt like it didn't have enough salt but it was still really tasty. Compared to other bbq joints in the Dallas area, the quality and quantity for the price point is really affordable! My one small gripe is that the music was a little too loud and it kept getting interrupted with text messages. Possibly hooked up to a phone? I wanted to give 5 stars, but I feel we should be honest with establishments that we want to thrive. I went to Smith Spot BBQ in Garland after church on Cinco de Mayo. They weren't that busy at the time. They immediately greeted me upon entering. The owner's mom worked the register and introduced herself. Sweet lady. The place is clean both inside and out. I ordered the Lil Mel, potato salad, baked beans, and mac & cheese. These people were so kind. They even offered a free margarita while I waited. The Lil Mel and baked beans were delicious! The potato salad and mac & cheese were overly seasoned. I mean, I love seasoned food, but I want to taste the dish more than I taste the seasoning. The mac had too much seasoning salt. The potatoe salad had too much mustard and seasoning salt. Don't get me wrong, I will still be back. I just wanted this to be known by the owner.
