First time in, but I was not disappointed. The prices are good, the food is made fresh and I can tell they have their regular customers. Chatted with the owner, very nice man. I never order biscuits and gravy because I don't like soggy food, but here, they grill them and serve separately. We will be back in!

Really good comfort food. Fresh made to order. Nice friendly servers who keeps your drink full. Old diner ambiance. Prices low great value.

Came here after receiving a plate of spoiled meat at Waffle House and my expectations were more than met. Our waitress, who happened to also be the manager, and let me tell you --after being in the industry my entire life and watching the decline of service rapidly this was a breath of fresh air-- she was attentive, prompt, funny, charming, all around amazing and on top of all that THE FOOD WAS FIRE! I got the steak and eggs and was served a proper thick, juicy, perfectly cooked cut of meat and my boyfriend got the fried pork chop. I truly detest pork in all forms (ham, bacon, pork loin, etc) but I ventured out and took a bite and DAMN! this was heaven! I could've been tricked into thinking I was eating a plate of chicken fried chicken had I not known. Infinite bonus stars for our waitress not even questioning our request for apple pie with cheddar cheese like other places do. (if you're confused there's a scene in Taxi Driver where Robert DeNiro orders a slice and I've been on the hunt for years for a place to serve me it, usually met with apprehension/disgust when I try to order it elsewhere) All in all, 10 out of 10, would recommend. People are being obnoxious complaining about the decor and furniture, the restaurant was clean and inviting, the food was outstanding and the prices were low. If you're ever in the area then absolutely choose this over the other breakfast joints in close proximity.

The price for what I got would have been good back in the 90's, but in this economy, it's fantastic. It's good, fresh food for a great price. I love the diner vibe It seems like a good place for breakfast on a lazy Saturday. The only reason this wasn't a 5 star review is because the service was really slow (we were there half an hour before we even ordered), but that wasn't for lack of trying on their part, they were just a bit understaffed I could tell all the servers were scrambling to provide everyone good service. I would recommend this place to anyone not in a hurry, or if they see that the parking lot isn't full.

Well, talk about a hidden gem. I had this place bookmarked but could not tell you where I heard…read moreabout it. It is basically a little luncheon oasis dropped right in the middle of a gigantic industrial park. On the drive over I was seriously questioning my Yelp choices. It is that kind of location. But trust Yelp and sometimes you are handily rewarded, which we absolutely were. We came after a few hours strolling around at the Botanical Gardens, so we rolled in around 1:30 and there were still plenty of people there. I can only imagine at noon this place is packed, and honestly it should be. My biggest complaint is the menus. There is one above the counter that does not include everything, and then a different, more complete version if you scan the QR code at the table (But 2 different navigations even on the website with slightly different menus). Do yourself a favor and look it up ahead of time so you are not standing there making panic decisions. There is a half sandwich and half soup combo (Not on the board but online menu), which is definitely the move. I got the pozole, which you should absolutely order, and a half grilled cheese on their housemate sourdough. Normally not my go to, but I was trying not to be completely stuffed since we had dinner plans. And they bake their own sourdough, so I had a strong feeling it would be great, and it delivered. Toasty and melty, American and cheddar. My husband got the southwestern wrap, and my friend went with the half club and half tomato soup. She immediately regretted not getting the pozole and the half birria sandwich, which tells you everything you need to know. Also need to mention the snickerdoodle. Not much to look at, kind of humble, but it completely makes up for it with flavor and that perfect soft texture. Go ahead and get the cookie. You are not here to make responsible decisions. Bottom line, it may feel like you are driving into the middle of nowhere, but keep going. This place is worth it.

Tried the watermelon refresher and it's good with free refill. Great service from staff. Great ambiance. Plenty of indoor and outdoor table to choose from. Looks busy at lunch time. I'm fairly certain I've submitted a review for Goldies in the past. But just in case, Its our new…read morefavorite spot. We discovered Goldies last fall, we were looking for a new place to eat. We were huge fans of Meddlesome Moth(which had closed a few months prior). The beer list didn't excite me(I'm a beer snob) but the bar vibe and the great staff quickly made me forget about that. We eat there twice a month now and when we don't get in on a regular schedule, we really miss it. I'm a huge fan of the steak frites and my wife loves the weekly pasta dishes which never disappoint. The cocktails are great and they're made by the friendliest barkeeps in town(Matt, Christine) Christopher keeps the place flowing and Brittani(owner) is great and always welcoming. The overall vibe is comfy and totally unpretentious. Goldies is a hidden gem but has quickly become a popular spot. Great spots like this don't stay hidden very long. Highly recommended! Carter L

Might have caught them on an off night? Ambiance, cleanliness, overall "vibe" is still perfect for…read morea date night or dinner with friends. Service is great, no issues there. Food, however, wasn't great, we came multiple times last year and it was fantastic all around, last night?... New risotto appetizer was flavorless 4/10, sauce was outstanding 9/10. Chicken meatballs were 6/10, salty, but sauce again was 8.5/10. Bread with the meatballs was 9/10. Nightly special was 9/10, chicken thigh wrapped chicken leg, amazing sauce and carrots. Special sauce with the nightly special stole the night at 9.5/10 - I'd order a bowl of that and call it a night! Magic Chicken Thighs were 6/10, overly salted and dry - side arugula salad was a salt bomb 2/10. Sweet potatoe purée was 7.5/10. Burger and fries were 7/10, solid and above average. Salmon was 7/10, slightly overcooked. Mac & Cheese was 3/10, below average, dry, almost flavorless - paid $4 for bacon topping and it was dry also. Noodles were dried out and the cheese sauce was at the bottom of the cup, tasted like they scooped in pre-made noodles, added sauce, threw it in the oven and off it went - didn't appear mixed together at the least. Carrots, solid 8/10. Overall, I'd be tempted to give it another try, the ambiance and overall feel is awesome - then hope the food is great again and make it a perfect Friday night spot, but for $275 for the 4 entree's, 2 appetizer's and 2 drinks we got last night? I'd argue it wasn't worth it.

Don't let those gas pumps outside fool you!…read more I once again found myself in Rowlett visiting friends and this was the first place Jerry took me for lunch. When he said these were the best gas station tacos he wasn't lying! Open 24/7, Twisted Trompo is a gas station Mexican restaurant that specializes in Mexican street style tacos. They share the same building with the Chevron convenient store which takes up a third of the building. Right outside are the gas pumps. The interior is nicely decorated with bright color, nice booths, tables and chairs. What draws your attention right away are the large plexiglass window openings that show off their state of the art. You'll also notice the large pieces of meat standing vertically on large skewers. In the context of Mexican cuisine, trompo refers to a vertical rotisserie. Meat is skewered and turned slowly as it cooks with the outer layers being shaved off for orders. Their tacos are made from scratch with their authentic Mexican marinade. They also serve breakfast items, quesadillas, tortas, burritos, a salad and a variety of snacks. Menu choices were simple with many combo options. I had to try their trompo meat so I ordered the 3 taco combo. You also get a large cup of mexican rice and refried beans. The rice was nicely flavored with some peas. Yom Yom Yom. The refried beans were also nicely cooked. The made from scratch street style taco flour tortillas complemented the heroes on my tray. The chicken was on par, but the steak and barbacoa were outstanding! The single thin slice of steak was succulent and juicy. Dressed with the fresh onions, cilantro and some of their green hot sauce... Yom Yom Yom Yom! The shredded pieces of the barbacoa were seasoned perfectly and again, wrapped in the tortilla, garnished with onions, cilantro,.. Yom Yom Yom Yom! Even Nick's lengua (beef tongue) was tender and flavorful. So don't let this gas station restaurant fool you. Some of the best food are found in hole-in-the-walls. This was no exception. It reminds me of the humble beginnings of Hoover's Blue Pacific. It's too bad Twisted Trompo isn't here. What a great place to find great food 24/7!
