We switched to solar about 2 years ago and we couldn't be happier with the change to our bill. The company during install was amazing and easy to work with. That said, this year, due to storm damage we need to have them removed to complete the roof and siding work. It has now been over a month and it took us emailing, calling;- even after paying, to get put on the schedule. First we were told that they did not understand that we paid, apologized and swore that they would get us on the schedule. Two weeks later and another couple of follow ups. We finally are on the schedule for October. We started this process in JULY. NOT Happy. I would have given them a 1 but it was truly 5 star service for install. I recommend getting solar but make sure your roof is new or close to new before going through with it. At least you will have less of an issue to get service. read more

We recently bought a new construction home with solar lease and while we are staying on top of our steps and tasks and communicating, the customer support Palmetto LightReach and GAF Energy are both part of an email chain for their support during our registration and setup and activation process. Unfortunately we have not heard back for 4 days and we faced an error instantly on Palmetto LightReach app where it wants to upload documents and failed instantly as if nobody is reviewing this and their automated checker and camera built in isn't doing it well enough to upload and says to contact their support. Still waiting on support 4 days later. At this time I cannot recommend Palmetto LightReach for solar as their customer care is slow/unresponsive for how important this is. read more

WATCH OUT!!! I signed a Lease Agreement with this company yesterday and formally got out of it in less than 24 hours. You have 10 days to terminate the Agreement in writing via email if you ever come into contact with this company too. I was originally impressed by the FLOEnergy sales pitch (Representative was named Colby) but the horrified by the actual terms of the contract after carefully reviewing what I just signed. (I ashamed I signed anything in the first place). I was told they'd install the solar panels at no expense to me, their work was gaurenteed and insured and if anything happened to my panels or my roof they had my back for 25 years and I was locked in at an amazing 2.99% rate where they gaurenteed was a fair price per kw of my usage that would beat the big bad TECO energy company because of TECOs price per kw inflation history. Here's the thing, the value of the total panels was approx $35k but at the end of my 25 year agreement I'd be $70k in the hole because their 2.99% interest rate is COMPOUNDING. Plus I'd own nothing and THEY got to keep the tax rebate and the energy I was producing goes back to TECOs power grid where it does me zero good as the homeowner. If there's a power outage during a FL hurricane, I'd still be without power regardless of all my panels. What was most offensive was the yearly price break down where it seems all fine and dandy up front in year 1, but by year 25 your bill to them inflated by 100+% and you'd be paying the most at a point where the solar panels would be MOST DEGRADED! Doing a Solar Leasing Agreement is NOT the way to do Solar. Stay away from this company. If you want to do Solar, buy the $35k panels yourself, claim your 30% back energy rebate on it, the panels themselves have manufacturer warrantys as would whoever you paid to do the install itself. You'd out $24.5k and making your own energy with no energy bill to TECO aside the mandatory monthly hookup charge of $13. If I had kept my Agreement with FLOEneergy for $70k, they would have made more than $40k off me and I'd own nothing and my roof and performance of my panels would be at their mercy. Palmetto has talked-down the system (to a potential buyer) and made derogatory comments regarding the payoff to the potential buyer for this property, and Good Leap is not helpful to facilitate transfer. I liked the idea of going solar and it started out ok until the inverter went in July after just 35 months. Now I am paying for the panels plus my electric bill. When the inverter went, I had an appointment to get it fixed. No one showed or called. Finally I called the company that Palmetto sent to fix it. The worst of what you expect from the cable company. More no shows, hang-ups on the phone and no resolution. I am going into fall with no one seemingly caring about fixing the issue or returning calls. In know we want to help the planet, but this isnt the way. Save your money to use less electricity and stay away from this quagmire. read more

I worked with a company called Demand Construction for the install. The design and install no issues at all, took a little longer to finally get approved for use, but besides that no issue. The MAJOR ISSUE is Palmetto/Lightreach whatever is the finance company, and they are so difficult to deal with. Like literally the worst customer service. Also I seriously don't think anyone working the customer service part knows anything about anything. Asking a question, needing to get any sort of answer, they will gladly escalate it to the right team, but that doesn't mean anything will actually happen. Ask for a supervisor, they have a list as of to why EVERY SINGLE SUPERVISOR ALL AT ONCE is not available, everytime. 1st excuse they're in a meeting, 2nd excuse they all left for the day - every single one of them. 3rd excuse, they're all in a training exercise. Ok I need to speak with someone from the escalation team, sorry maam they don't have a line... well how did you just talk to them? oh uh well uh... you will literally get no where with any of them. The only training the customer service team has probably gotten is how to avoid fixing anything that you are having a problem with. I almost was not able to sell my house because of their lack of ability to do anything, and then today I find out I still have the account, despite the house being sold, escrow closed, the new owners are living there, and yet they still want to charge me because apparently the new owners have not sent their information to the company. I personally emailed the new information, my escrow officer emailed the information, my realtor, their realtor and the new buyers have all seperately emailed this company and they still cannot get their act together to finish the transfer. The person "in charge" of this transaction, apparently doesn't have a phone, or an email, or anyway of getting ahold of him, except by the customer service person "expediting the situation." So good luck with them and I hope you have patience because you're gonna need it all just to deal with this crap. read more

I had my solar installed during Nov 2021. Everything was fine until last summer when squirrels nested under one of my panels and chewed up my electrical cables. Surprise! Nobody at Palmetto ever mentioned that squirrels would chew up cables, nobody ever offered any preventative measure to keep the squirrels away. My home and my neighbors have mature trees on our lots. So Palmetto starts telling me that my system is not producing or communicating correctly. I ask for service to fix the problem. I live in Virginia Beach, VA. First thing Palmetto tells me is that if squirrels are the cause of the problem, they will charge me $1,000 just for travel expenses for a team to come make the repairs, plus the cost of parts and labor. Finally in late September Palmetto tells me that they don't have people in my area and it will take a longer time to get a team here to fix the system. So I end up hiring a local company to make the repairs and install a "critter guard". The local company told me that the install was sloppy, they did not make a site map of my panels which makes it harder to figure out which panels are having issues. The local company tells me that it is negligent to sell the system without advising to put in critter guards to protect the panels from infestation if your have big trees in your property. Palmetto tells me that they are sorry....but too bad. Of course the warranty does not cover critter damage. Do not buy Palmetto solar system unless you live close by to where their headquarters are because you will get no service from them. All my energy savings just got negated by this repair cost. There are so many better options out there My husband and I explored a solar project with them and after one of their sales associates tried to strong arm us with what felt like used car dealer tactics we looked around. And there is no shortage of options..all of which compete to match the others in order to win the deal. We screwed up and signed an agreement with them which claimed to have only a $500 cancellation fee. I have since been threatened to be sent to collections for $1375 then it changed to $1962.50 and now they are "willing to consolidate" erroneous fees that appeared out of thin air and are demanding $1462.50. I don't know where they came up with these figures but it's ridiculous. They seem to be trying to make money off of us at any cost and don't even have credible reasoning behind it. Any company who treats prospects/customers this way is bound to fail. Palmetto fails to give access to owned property, namely the SolarEdge inverter. From Palmetto: "Palmetto does not provide customers access to the SolarEdge App." This was not discussed at the beginning, if it was I would not of chosen Palmetto Solar. There should be no reason why Palmetto cannot provide access. the SolarEdge app has account setup built in and they can provide me with viewer access. Palmetto customer service is a joke. They don't ever call you back. They never fix any problems. My AC disconnect switch started smoking and melting wires 3 months ago. They hired a 3rd party to repair, that 3rd party screwed it up and it's still not fixed. I have called palmetto every week, they have never called me back to reschedule a new replacement. Palmetto techs, when doing your initial system install, will drill unnecessary (mistake) holes in your siding. This typically isn't a huge deal - mistakes can happen, just patch it up or fill in the hole, and let the owner know right? But, you guessed it, Palmetto techs will simply leave their mistake holes in your siding, and will neither notify you about or fill in the multiple unnecessary exposed holes you now have in your siding. You have the pleasure of getting a surprise discovery that water from rain has been leaking into the side of your home from newly drilled holes in it for weeks! That's not the only customer perk Palmetto has though. Palmetto also has the added bonus of a completely nonfunctional support structure for other issues not related to gratuitous holes drilled into the side of your home, where no matter how many times you call or email them to try and get an issue addressed, all they ultimately do is say "someone will contact you back" and they never, ever do. If that all sounds appealing to you, I highly recommend Palmetto for your solar needs. read more

Got many solar quotes, and they promised the moon along with cheapest solar. After all permitting complete, it took months to schedule the install, and the install crew no-showed three times. Installation could be the ugliest ever done, as I asked a simple and invisible way to run conduit, but the crew ran it out in the open, and many unneeded holes in my roof for brackets. It's now both ugly and inefficient. Will certainly let my network know to not use Palmetto. read more

Been waiting for over 2 months for an inspection, meanwhile being charged for solar I cannot use, during a time when electric prices are at their highest. Been waiting 8 months total since I signed up, which is double what they estimate it takes. They were very communicative until they installed the panels, then they went radio silent and didn't even finish the job, nor did they know they didn't finish the job until I told them almost 2 months later that wires are hanging out and didn't think that was going to pass inspection. They completed the work last week, but I have been told twice now that they are coming for an inspection, and no one shows up. I will never use them again, nor recommend them. While I am also being charged, they told me they had a promotion going on and would pay for the first year, a check would be sent to me after the installation. I am being charged and it's been installed, and still haven't seen that check. read more

We are in the same situation as a lot of elderly people who put their trust in a friendly salesman. We had a salesman come to our door to tell us how really great our house was set up for solar as it was south facing and no trees blocking solar panels. He asked for a year's worth of our electric bills and told us he would review them to come up with a plan where we could realize real savings - his terminology was a net zero plan. Sure enough, he called back the next day and showed us his figures on how much we were spending a month, how inflation over the next 5 years would increase that amount and, the sales pitch of how the solar panels were going to save us thousands of dollars over the next 25 years. Foolishly, we signed the contract and honestly should have had an attorney go over it but they pressure you to sign quickly while they are in the neighborhood and you will start saving money right away.They lead you to believe that they are actively working with your electric energy provider to design the best system for your needs.Here we are 9 months since they turned it on and we are almost $100/month poorer than we were without the system. Laughably, the best we have done so far for any given month is about a $10 credit for customer generated electricity. We called their customer service way back in March to ask why we were getting so little credit and were told that it was not their problem but we should get our electric provider to do better. When I called the electric company, I was told by their solar expert that there is nothing like "net zero" here in ***** and in order to actually receive the kind of credit promised we would have to generate in excess of another 900kw/month.Of course, to do this means more panels and more charges from Palmetto.I called Palmetto again the other day to ask once again to have someone call me back to see if there is any remedy but, of course, no one has had the courtesy to call. After doing my research on solar and many months of debate I decided to go for it. The sales person was amazing and explained everything giving peace of mind. I started this project 7/2021 with going back and forward on panels not being available or changes and having to redo the financial docs due to it taking to long. Finally, February 2022 the panels where dropped of for installation to find out the ordered the wrong supports. I was told they would be back in 2 weeks with new supports. 3 months later May 2022 scheduled for installation AGAIN, they where unable to complete the job due to wrong supports again. They came back 2 weeks later to finish. Now the main panel was moved end of June (incomplete work). Palmetto schedule a city inspector to come out without finishing the electrical main panel. Now I'm receiving my 1st bill with no solution of when anything will be completed Called the credit union, they said call sunlight financial. Sunlight financial said they have nothing to do with it to pay off the bill ($35,000.00). Worst experience, no one knows their left from right. And they don't want to talk to you. This company is one of the worst I have ever dealt with in my life. I later found out after committing and having installed over $50,000.00 worth of solar panels that the sales reps are NOT employees of Palmetto. They make commitments, promises and lie about the performance of the panels, the installers, and guarantees. My sales rep. told me that by purchasing 100% coverage, I will never have an electric bill. Living in western Pennsylvania, with 60% of our days cloudy, he told me that with these incredibly efficient solar panels, even on cloudy days, they will product a 60 to &70 percent rate. I have talked with customer service 3 times and with each call, after explaining my problem, I am told that a supervisor will call me back within 24 to 48 hours...That has never happened. Over the past week, no one even answers the phone, their answering machine says"leave a message". I have again and again, but no return call! I cannot believe that they have an A+ rating from the BBB! Whatever you do...avoid Palmetto at all cost or it will cost you a lot! read more

Palmetto has the worst customer service I have ever experienced! My system was installed less than a year ago. I notified Palmetto back in February after I moved in that the system was not working- even told them what was wrong with it since I had the utility company out here first thinking it was their issue. I have been trying ever since to get them to come out to fix my system and they simply never respond. It is impossible to get someone on the phone, and emails sit for weeks without being responded to. They are literally costing me money every single day with zero response to my inquiries. I even had a neighbor try to reach out to the sales person he had been working with to possibly get a good contact and even that hasn't gotten a response! On or about March 23 my solar panel system stopped working. I called Palmetto Solar LLC to inform them of the interruption of service. They advised me to go through the reset process manually at the homeowner level and they would get back to me in 72 hours. They did not respond. I called back at the end of 72 hours and they advised the system was still not working. They apparently internally escalated it to a resolution tech and advised they would get back to me within 3-5 business days. They never called. At the end of 5 business days I called Palmetto again. They advised they need to send someone out to evaluate and fix the problem on site. They would advise via e-mail as to the status. I received and email from an entirely different company called Pronto365 who advised they had to contract an authorized tech to come out to my property to fix the problem. A tech finally showed up 3 weeks later on or about 4/14. Tech advised unable to fix the problem and left. I have had no response from Palmetto Solar as to the problem, resolution or timing. I called on or about 4/24 to inquire as to the status. They have no response. I e-mailed tech support to document and copied the CEO. No response. All of this from installation to the output of the panels, panels themselves and all related work is under warranty for the next 25 years. The company seems to find it acceptable to order extra install material, charge the indiviual customer, and then take the surplus because "we order extra materials and take them from sites because it's sometimes difficult to obtain more". And then never call back. They give generic, dismissive responses brushing off accountability. They have their money while I'm stuck with the loan. I filled out a form on goggle and Martin Varn got back to me and stated Palmetto Solar doesn't work with Fairfield Electric, but to call them and find out who installs for Fairfield. So I did and was told any solar company can install and I just have to pay $15 a month to Fairfield, so I call Martin back who first asked if I lived in a trailer, No my home is 1300 sq ft on a crawlspace. He then says he'll talk to his manager and call me back. I followed up with an email and waited for his call, which he never replied or called. Instead of just calling me and saying we don't work on smaller homes or my manager doesn't want to work with Fairfield, he just left me hanging. So, ask yourself this, will they respond to you when there is a problem with your solar system if they can't even call back a potential customer. I'd stay away from them if I was you. I couldn't be more disappointed in my panel purchase from Palmetto. They talked me into a 30 panel system that should have covered at minimum 90% of my average energy bill at a cost of $39k installed. My average energy bill from Duke says I average 40 kWh per day. On the best days, my panels produce about 24 kWh but most days it closer to 10 kWh. DO NOT GET THESE PANELS! THEY ARE GARBAGE!!! read more

We added solar to our home 3 years ago and the savings have been incredible. Our summer bill dropped from around $250 per month to $30!!! We've had no problems with the system and it's made it through 2 hurricanes without issue. We are adding energy storage to further help in cases of power outages. I purchased a house with solar panels system installed by Palmetto Solar. Everything was working great until about 2 months ago. I called for service and was told they would call me back with a service date. They never called back then I placed 3 more calls to them with the same message over a couple of week period. They finally showed unannounced and said they fixed the problem. It only worked for 1 day. I called them back 4 days ago and was told there is a service call issued and I should hear something that day. I have called every day since and not got any response. One gentleman did call me back named Alvin and seemed really frustrated that no one called me back. Since that call I have called Alvin, left messages but no return phone call. I have warped panels and they want to charge me to come look. they don't stand behind anything obviously. all of their representatives have failed to even get a service visit scheduled. we have a 12.6kw system and I still pay 200 in power plus 300 in solar panel financing every month. we have not added new people or appliances....in fact we have done things to improve energy efficiency. panels are improperly braced and warping on my installation. they took a 5 min look at production data and claim all is fine. obviously its not fine or my production vs consumption would show that. THIS IS NOT WHAT I EXPECTED FOR A 50K INVESTMENT. 4 MONTHS TO GET A SERVICE CALL IS UNACCEPTABLE IN ANY INDUSTRY. see pictures of visibly warped panel. VERY DISAPPOINTED!! BEWARE!! I have a roof that needs to be replaced and Palmetto Solar salesperson said that if ever need a new roof- they will remove the solar panels at cost for the labor- and the cost to me would be minimal. Well, I went with them because that's a great promise! Unfortunately, when the time came I had horrible time reaching the right person, - and when I finally did,- they said it will probably be around $200/panel for them to remove and put back on. I have 33 panels. That's $6,600!!!! Enraged I called my sales rep Ron Vonderbecke who told me that's an outrageous price and he's going to see what he can do...someone called me, jotted down my information, said they were going to call me back for sure by end of the business day. They never did. It's the next day now - and still no quote for removal of panels and no callback. It's been a total circus and I can't get my roof replaced until they get on the ball! And I will void the warranty if I have anyone but them remove the panels!!! read more

I live in IL and this company called me about installing solar panels on my home. I had a representative come to my house and tell me and my wife I can cancel at any time without cost if nothing was installed on my home if I wasn't happy with the process. The Rep., Dustin Maxwell, also said they would provide a service to make my home more energy efficient at no cost. Here is where they got me! They had an installer come to my home to blast Aeroseal and some other stuff called Nanotech into my HVAC ducts and tried to install a nest thermostat. Well, he couldn't get the thermostat on and the Aeroseal and Nanotech damaged my heating system. It was freezing and I had to have an emergency HVAC repairman come to my home to fix the problem the Aeroseal caused. Also, at that point they withdrew $5780 from a GreenSky loan/line of credit they had me open without me knowing. When I asked Dustin what this was for, he said they are proactively withdrawing the same amount of money that I should receive back from the Government after I file taxes for the energy efficient improvements on my home. Which makes no sense. Turns out this money is for the Aeroseal and whatever generic cost they can add to an invoice to try to charge you if you cancel. When I let Dustin know i wanted to cancel this installation the project manager, Mindi Gyimesi billed me $3K for the Aeroseal and Nanotech they put in my HVAC ducts. When I said I never agreed to have Aeroseal or Nanotech installed she pointed out some fine print on a contract I signed that honestly doesn't make any sense at all. When I asked for an invoice she sent me one that was manually edited with her new charges for the nanotech and aeroseal and added a $500.00 cancellation fee. So much for cancelling without being charged! If you get approached by these people turn away and run! This is a scam and I'm going to get a lawyer to help me out, but if you can avoid the headache, please do. I REALLY DO NOT KNOW HOW THESE PEOPLE SLEEP AT NIGHT. read more

Do yourself a favor and look for any company other than Palmetto Solar if you are considering getting solar. This company starting with the owner Aaron Davis will not take NO for an answer. I canceled the service on the 2nd day after writing the contract and for months the owner kept calling me saying he wanted to help me get in on the Net Meter deal before it closed. His real reason was they wanted to install a $40k system on my house when other solar companies said that it would not work. What he didn't know was that at the time my girlfriend works for Duke Energy Corporate and knew more about the program and changes coming before he did. When I finally responded to his email to say NO again. He wouldn't accept that I have proof of the cancellation letter. Now they are attempting to call me through a so-called collection company saying I owe them $900. I will report this company to the BBB and any other credible website online to protect other people from going through what I did with them. I am considering a lawsuit against them for harassment at this point and if they attempt to put anything on my credit. DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. My review is real and this company is as bad as it gets in this space. read more
