A true hidden gem. I went for fish tacos for the first time and after the first bite, I was confused why this place is not super packed. So fresh, flavorful and great portions too. This place became my favorite instantly and now I visit at least once a week. So far my favorites are fish, asada and al pastor tacos, chorizo breakfast burritos(it's loaded!), Cali burrito(flavor bomb!), mojarra frita(a whole fried fish) and Camarones Cucaracha(spicy shrimp). This shrimp dish is so satisfying!! Really good with a fresh lime squeezed on top. Oh the chilaquiles verde is amazing too, I add chorizo and avocado on top. Love it. Everything is delicious. Ate here twice this week because this is the perfect weather pairing! Fish tacos are the closest I can find to Cali taco trucks (little consomme would be extra chef's kiss) Love the shrimp tacos! Tacos tacos tacos and agua fresca are my go tos. I just tried their shrimp burrito and I was hesitant at first because there's so many things in it (rice, beans, cabbage, protein) and I'm used to just shrimp and rice and cheese orrrrrrr fish, cabbage and sauce. I visited Palomar Fish Tacos on Saturday for lunch. This is hands down the best fish tacos in Charleston. I had the World Famous Fish Taco and a shrimp taco. They were both served on freshly made corn tortillas. The fish was a generous portion. Coleslaw and lime were served with the taco. The place had a small parking lot and indoor dinning. I have been searching for the perfect fish taco in Charleston and have finally found it - nothing has compared to this. Soon after entering the cozy dining room we were greeted warmly and seated. You can order for takeout or dine in. We ordered fish and shrimp tacos. Next time I definitely want to try one of the aguas frescas. This was our first visit here and it won't be our last! My mom and I both had the fish taco combo plate. The tacos were hot and fresh, beans were delicious and the rice was fluffy. I'll admit there was something we didn't like about the salsa, but that didn't stop me from eating quite a bit of it and taking the rest home to try to alter to my specific tastes. The chips were homemade and extra crispy. Sodas do come in bottles, but we were offered a glass with ice. They serve beer in bottles, but we didnt look at the choices. This place is unassuming and doesn't immediately catch your eye when driving down Dorchester, but don't let that stop you! We went for dinner on a Friday night and it wasn't very busy so we sat immediately. The restaurant is clean and intimate, but has plenty of seating! We ordered the guac and each ordered a shrimp and fish taco. The guacamole was so good, and the chips were super tasty- I'm pretty sure they're made in house! The appetizer was a hefty size, but we still managed to finish! The shrimp and fish tacos were both fried and they were stuffed full of seafood deliciousness on fresh house made corn tortillas. They even came with this super unique grilled peppers that was apparently imported from California- they get a little spicy the more you eat, but they sure are good! They don't have any liquor, so no margs. But they do have a variety of Jarritos flavors and some beer to enjoy. The owners were there the night we ate and the wife took care of us and was super friendly! The food came out quickly and was really fresh also. Side note- we ended up having some car trouble while we were trying to leave. Both of the owners came out to assist us when they saw we were struggling and literally got on their hands and knees to help us. Thanks to a friend's recommendation, we went to Palomar for lunch and it definitely lives up to the hype! The space is not fancy, but it's clean and we were able to eat in. They have you choose a seat and they take the order from the table. At my table, we started with chips and salsa and then we all ordered tacos. Some had the shrimp taco combo, others the fish and some of us had the mixed combo-1 fish, 1 shrimp with rice and beans. And...the most amazing tasting grilled pepper I've ever had. The tacos were loaded and the fish and shrimp were lightly fried . The food was full of flavor and the portion sizes were excellent. I don't think anyone was able to finish their whole plate, but we sure wanted to! I would highly recommend trying out Palomar if you have not yet! read more

So yummy! Small, clean little restaurant on Dorchester not far from AF base and NC Coliseum. I was immediately greeted when I walked in. Place seats about 30 so I decided to eat in. I ordered fish taco combo. Tacos were stuffed so full I could barely hold with two hands. Stuffed with strips of delicious fish, cabbage and onions. Refried beans were smothered with cheese. Rice had bits of vegetables with a mild flavor. Pepper imported from CA was amazing with lite spices and not hot at all. I had such a wonderful dinner here with my parents. The food here is so tasty and fresh! Beyond the fish tacos, I loved the pineapple aqua fresca and the side of beans!!!! While the food was super tasty, the true treasure is the owners. Bianca and her husband are warm, inviting, and care a lot about their business. One of the best meals I've had out in quite awhile! I have had Palomar on my list for quite some time and regret not stopping sooner, as my lunch was fab! After seeing all the great posts and pictures we had to try Palomar fish tacos. We were blown away to see the least! The owners are very nice and willing to answer any questions you may have. The interior is clean, and the blue walls give it a great brightness! my wife got the Mexican Coke which uses cane sugar instead of corn syrup offering a fresher take. I enjoyed the Jarrito's soda, the mandarin flavor which was light and refreshing. No usually I don't order chips and salsa but after reading other people's reviews decided to give them a try. They did not disappoint. The chips were slightly on the thick side perfect for dunking into the salsa. The salsa was the right consistency, not too watery and not too thick with a smokey tomatoey flavor that was not too sweet! I still have leftover salsa sitting in my fridge at home! We then moved on to the shrimp empanadas. Three large empanadas with a unique crust. At first, I had a tough time placing the flavor but then I realized that it was maze like they use with tamales, so they almost had a tamale-like taste. The filling was plentiful but don't sleep on the owner's secret sauce which brings the flavor profile to a whole new level! Up next the carne asada fries. Holey Moley these were absolutely spectacular! A mountain of fries covered in cheese, carne asada, jalapenos, Pico, guacamole with crema and cotija cheese. They managed to mix all the ingredients throughout so that every bite you take has all the toppings. They don't just pile it on the top! My wife got two shrimp tacos which were huge, filled with delicious lightly battered shrimp and absolutely bursting with fresh flavor! The dishes come with a gypsy pepper brought in from California. The taco was so packed it was hard to fold it and fit it in your mouth! I ordered the fish taco plate that came with beans and rice and a pepper. Just like the shrimp taco it was packed with ingredients and flavor. The owner told we that everything is prepared fresh to order, nothing sits in a bin. On Tuesday these giant fish tacos are only $3.50, a huge bargain. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the friendly exceptional service. Don't nap on this place as I can definitely see them taking off! Easily the BEST fish tacos I've ever had! I stopped by Palomar Fish and Tacos and was seriously impressed. Lina took my order and was absolutely amazing super friendly, helpful, and welcoming. The fish was soooo crispy, perfectly seasoned, and cooked just right. The slaw was fresh with just the right crunch and flavor it seriously took the tacos over the top! And let me give a huge shoutout to the chef he clearly knows what he's doing! You can tell he puts passion into every plate.
