Went in here to work today & it's a great WFH spot! The matcha latte was perfect, they played soft music in the background which was nice, had a water station & are dog friendly! The only downside is they close at 4 so it's a day-time/morning only thing! Lots of parking available out front & cute patio seating now that the weather is nice! Would recommend if your in the east Austin area looking for a nice coffee shop. read more

Great little coffee spot with a small sampling of pastries that are very good. I drank a cardamom mocha latte. I told them to go easy on the chocolate because I really wanted the cardamom flavor. Like many new, fantastic places in Austin - Palomino is a study in contrast. Gorgeous, hipster, high end and well made coffee - contrasted with a large room with some exposed metal beams and sacks of goods stored on the side. Amazing western aesthetic, paired with a HUGE piece of cement close to the bathroom that wobbles when you walk over it. But here's what it comes down to - the coffee is fantastic. I got a vanilla bean latte and my husband got a cardamon mocha latte. They came in these really cute amber colored glasses and we LOVED them. Love this coffee shop! I was in Austin for 2 months and this quickly became my favorite coffee spot. While expensive, you can tell that they put quality ingredients and thought into their beverages. My favorite was the vanilla oat latte. I usually don't like vanilla because it's too sweet, but this was perfect- it tasted homemade. The service is wonderful-they were always really friendly and chatty and it seemed like everyone who came in was friends with a cashier. They have a cute little store area with luxury goodies off to the side. It's a great place to work. They have large communal tables, outlets, and WiFi, and it stays pretty quiet even when busy. read more

Palomino coffee has incredible coffee- I ordered their iced caramel latte and it was very rich in flavor and tasted delicious. My sister ordered their iced matcha latte and she was very impressed with the taste as well! The service was also super quick even though it was busy! The inside of palomino is an entire vibe on its own, Especially if you love minimalistic designs and such. They sell small little plants, sage and more at the little stand near the front of the entrance. Parking was a little bit difficult but it's well worth the time and visit! Highly recommend especially if you just want to hang out or if you want to study! They have separate couch areas to hang out or little tables you can sit at and get some work done. read more

I love this well thought out, bohemian-style cafe. Business, here, is extremely well; luckily, they have their system down to a t and move the line (if there is one) quickly. Things you should know: I. PARKING There's a free private parking lot out front with available spaces, even when the coffee shop is at capacity. So don't stress it. II. SERVICE Efficient and artistic (?). I think artistic would be a good word to describe their latte talent. The glasses are deep, which makes their skills even more impressive in my opinion ~ it's much easier to make a design in a shallow cup. Not to mention, their glassware here is simple but perfect with the surrounding esthetic. Great job to the designer..! III. QUALITY I've only had the coffee to vouch for ~ it won't disappoint. At all. IV. CAPACITY Holy cow, I must have arrived at the worst time. It was terribly crowded at the a.m. on a weekday. I tried to avoid the weekend rush but that wasn't a success. Fine coffee. Fine light room. Voodoo-style donuts - always a plus. (Another review says that Sour Duck makes the pastries. This may be true.) Few seats. Glare can be an issue. I'm not big on their playlist. Cutting edge East Side crowd and East Side staff. My gaydar was going off all over the place ... Of course, my gaydar hasn't worked well in years. My daughters and I checked out Palomino this morning and found it to be a truly delightful experience. The aesthetic was like a mellow gold , peaceful easy feeling, horse with no name daydream .The coffee was absolutely delicious. I tried a blueberry latte which tasted just like a blueberry pancake. My young daughter ate a chocolate e croissant while my teen sipped on a Giddy up..which was cherry cola inspired . She also noted that they had complimentary feminine hygiene products in the bathroom ; which is a nice touch. They roast their own coffee in house and we watched that transpire with avid interest. The baristas were friendly and efficient. My daughters were the only kids there, but no one made them feel unwelcome. There is plenty of room indoors and outdoors, but the blazing heat made sitting outside today a nonstarter. I would definitely return again to this East side gem. read more

Palomino has a bit of working space and those community tables are massive. I love their cold brew and the brisket kolache is a must have. Such an Austin place! Met one of my friends from work for coffee during a weekday and it was super busy, but with fast and friendly service. I ordered a hot chai latte with oat milk and it was delicious. Besides my drink, I loved that the place was super dog friendly and there was plenty of parking. Owners with their dogs were sitting outdoors and indoors and, everyone kept their space and had good etiquette with the other dog parents. I didn't bring my dog, but my friend did and she was so chill while we caught up and enjoyed our coffee + chai. Will come back again and bring my pup! read more

Solid coffee shop. Super aesthetic, feels like you're in a cave in a dessert. I never watched Star Wars, but I remember the desert bar. Yeah, that aesthetic but in a good way. Super packed for a weekday morning and understandably so, as it looked like a good place to work. Plenty of outdoor seating as well. We got the Show Pony which was their latte with vanilla bean but we weren't tasting the vanilla syrup at all. We took it back and remade us a new one no questions asked and they were super nice about it. Huge ups for that! The new one they made was sooo much better with the vanilla. Solid latte. Probably one of the most aesthetically pleasing coffee shops in Austin! The parking lot is shared with a few other businesses. I ordered a vanilla iced latte and it was amazing, the coffee was actually good too. They sell coffee beans from Flat Track and a few vintage t-shirts. They have a couple big community style tables and couch chairs inside and a small patio with a few tables outside. The roasting machine they use is on full display which I thought was pretty cool but might be pretty loud if they ever roast beans while customer's are inside. I was excited to check this place out as it was rated highly. When I got there, I felt pretty underwhelmed at the whole experience. This place is definitely overhyped and while it was great to check out, I would never come back. Inside was not as cute as other reviewers were saying. It felt small and there were too many people and not enough spots to sit. Drink was overpriced and mediocre tasting. I spent a morning working on my laptop at Palomino coffee and I was overall happy with the experience but I don't think it'll be my next go-to spot. I went in intending to eat breakfast there but they said they hadn't received any food deliveries near the holiday (it was the day after Christmas). I was bummed (and hungry) but ordered a cardamom latte and sat down. The decor is absolutely gorgeous and you can tell there's been a lot of thought and love out into the space. My beverage was high quality and I almost wished I had ordered it as espresso instead so I could fully taste it. The reason I don't think it'll become a go-to spot for me is that it has limited seating and, of the seating that existed, not much 'work space.' I'd still recommend checking it out! read more

Honestly, I came here to study for the aesthetic but was also served some great coffee! Throughout my years in Austin, I've found that there's a negative correlation between how cute a coffee shop is and how good the coffee actually is. That is not the case with Palomino! I ordered an iced Show Pony latte w/ oat milk and it was one of the smoothest lattes I've had + their use of real vanilla beans adds the perfect amount of sweetness. A con is the background noise. It's really neat that they roast and bag their own coffee beans in house, but the sound of their machines & loud music might not be great to study to if you get easily distracted so bring headphones! I also don't love how most of the seating is community style where you have to sit kind of close to strangers. I wish they had smaller tables for groups of 2-4. Regardless, it is a pretty good spot to study at! It has fast wifi and a decent amount of outlets. read more

As to be expected, the cafe attracts the usual millennial hipster crowd with some students here and there. I ordered the miso caramel latte (iced and with oat milk). It was ok. Coffee flavor was definitely there, but I couldn't really taste the miso. Still, I want to come back here again and try their other menu items. The inside of the shop is really cute and I got a vanilla iced latte and a smoked brisket and cheddar kolache. I've had that brand of kolache and I really like it. I thought the latte was fine but not amazing. It's supposed to be made with vanilla bean, so I thought it would be a little more exciting.
