In early 2023 I used Palu Concrete Construction to resurface the sidewalk and driveway ramp and I REGRET using this company because of the AMATEURISH work they do. 1) After the new cement was poured on the sidewalk and driveway ramp and it was still wet, they did not use yellow caution tape or anything as barricade to keep people from walking on it while it dried because he did not have any. I had to use my own rope for the barricade. 2) In the last several months, I noticed that the cement is chipping/breaking off in different areas of the driveway ramp (even though my family park our cars in the street and rarely use the driveway ramp) and there is one hole in the sidewalk! When I called to ask David, the owner, why this is happening, he said that he did not know but he used good cement and did a great job. I then asked him to come to my house for an inspection but he said that the warranty is only for 12 months and he refused. He never provided me with a written receipt because he was out of them at the time. For verification, I spoke with another contractor, who informed me that the hole and the chipping are likely due to not thoroughly mixing the cement, which can lead to lumping/clumping in the cement mix. See attached pictures. 3) David did a horrible job of reinstalling the red bricks on one border. They are noticeably crooked and uneven compared to the rest of the original bricks, which were installed about 30 years ago. See attached pictures. For comparison, I inspected my neighbor's sidewalk and driveway ramp, which was done by another contractor about 4-5 years ago and I did not notice any chipping, cracking or holes and the overall workmanship looked very professional compared to the work done by this amateurish company. read more

Awesome. Completely recommend. Needed the side of the house concreted in. Nothing fancy. He understood and came in got it all leveled and prepped in a day and then poured the next day. While he was finishing up, we realized we needed our wall raised asked him if he could do it and he said he could start in 4 days. Came out and finished that project in a few days. Very irresponsible and sloppy contractor. I hired Tevita (David) Palu Concrete Construction to replace my wood fence with a block wall fence. In the process he told me the sprinkler valves and pipes along the wood fence need to be moved, and promised me to put them back after so the sprinkler system will work again, but he never did. He removed the sprinkler valves and the pipes, and even sloppy enough spilled concrete cement that almost burry my main line. He left my backyard with no sprinkler for weeks. I had to hire a landscaper to find the main line and the left over pipes that he cut, and reconnected my sprinkler system. I will never hire him again to do any project. read more

I contacted this place via Yelp DM based on all of the positive reviews that I read below. They set up an appointment for someone to come and assess the space that needed work. The guy shows up with no mask. My husband and I ask him politely to put one on (it's COVID and for his health as well as ours) and he does (though initally reluctant). Then he proceeds to wrap up his assessment and explains that he'll send an estimate the following day. The next day comes...no response. I figured it's the weekend so maybe in a few days they'll get back? Weekend ends...no response. I follow up three times via Yelp DM during the week...no response. I text the guy that came out to assess the area and...you guessed it-- no response. Oh well, moving on to someone else. read more

David showed up to do the estimate, and he gave me a fair price. However, he disappeared. Yes, this happened again on Yelp pro. I feel like these people on Yelp do not really want to be hired nor take any jobs. They just want to show up to people's house to get information for future rubbery or steal. Because this is the fifth guy disappeared after estimate, I'm not only going to report to CSLB, but also document this case to my local police department. These pros from Yelp are extremely suspicious. They show up write down my address, then that's it. I'll never be able to reach out to them again. I will never try to hire anyone from Yelp again, due to the unreliable. They respond extremely quick after I sent out job request, but all of them disappeared right before the project starts. Again, this is just one of those suspicious pro that disappeared, I really don't understand the point behind it. After all, I'll not recommend him to any of my friend or family member, and I strongly suggest everyone not to give your addresses to any of these "contractors" on Yelp. read more

I talked to David twice over the phone and set up an appointment for him to come out and give me an estimate for a large patio slab. I text him the day before to confirm and give him directions and asked that if he got delayed to PLEASE text me and let me know as I was driving 40 minutes to our new home site. I arrived about 10 minutes early and waited...and waited....and waited. I text him to ask if he was still coming and no reply. I called him and no reply. So I had another person that came with me call him and he answered. I asked him where he was and he seemed surprised that it was me (obviously he was dodging my calls from my number). He kind of stammered and then said he "forgot" and asked what day and time the appointment was for. I confirmed that I had just sent him a reminder the night before. So I guess he feels his time is way more important than my time. I'm glad I found out what an irresponsible and unprofessional person he is before he started on my job.
