I haven't been here in a while, and I finally went to get my eyes checked and got some contacts. After wearing my contacts for a month, I realize that these contacts were not fit for me because they kept hurting my eyes really bad so I went today to see if I could somehow get new contacts And they told me that I could go get my eyes checked again, but they would charge me for a new set of contacts after I paid for one year of contacts. They were not willing to exchange my contacts for another brand. It just upset me because why would I have to pay Again knowing that I have a years subscription of contacts. They were not willing to help me out and see what we could do about it. I got up and I told him that they suck and I would never come back again. So they were not willing to help me out at all so I do not recommend this place at all. I've been going here for years and this is how I get treated. I don't think so so I am leaving a bad review on them. read more

Very disappointed with the staff. The office is beautiful and seems state of the art. Our insurance changed so we had to pick a new provider. After looking at pictures and reviews I chose Hill Country Vision Center to switch my family to. We took our toddler to his first visit, and he was understandably restless. The office told my husband to bring him back another day to complete his exam. Totally fine, we understand toddlers can be a handful. We returned Friday to complete his appointment. I went with him this time. I arrived early as they instructed on the text reminders, emails, and voicemails. We checked in and took a seat. I expected to wait, no problem there, but 15 minutes past our appointment time we still hadn't been called back so I asked how much longer. They said they were getting a room together, so we went back to wait. The assistant took us back to the room and tried to start his eye exams, she did not seem comfortable with children. I work in pediatrics and offered to help hold him for this part, we were able to get through most of it even though he struggled, but there was little communication about what they needed to accomplish to complete the test. We were went back out to the waiting room to await the student doctor. Another long wait later, we're taken back to the room to see the doctor but we're waiting on them again. The student doctor finally came in, she gave no direction on what she needed my son to do, and was very hands off. We had trouble getting him to sit still, he's 3, he never sits still, but again I offered to hold him and get no real response, then she leaves to confer with the doctor and we're getting to wait again. About 15-20 minutes goes by. We arrived at the office at 9:50. It's now 11:45. Enough is enough, toddlers cannot sit and wait that long and expect to have a good outcome so I decide we're going to leave. I walk out and the student doctor is typing notes or something on the computer. She asks if we needed something and I calmly let her know my son couldn't wait any longer and we would be leaving. She said she would go check with the doctor, I said that's fine but we are still leaving. I let her know if they weren't equipped to handle toddlers they should have just told me and we could have gone somewhere else and saved us all the trouble. I let the front desk know also that we were leaving and that they could call and bill me later. I also let them know expecting children to wait almost 2 hours to see the doctor was not acceptable. I work in healthcare and would never treat my patients this way. No one ever apologize for the wait. No one called me Friday. No one called me today after I left a message. Now they can talk to my insurance about why they billed an exam that wasn't completed. I'm sure it's a great office for adults, but I would not bring children here. I was going to transfer my whole family over but at this point I'd rather go back to our old office and pay out of pocket than put my son through such an experience again. read more

Dont go here unless you want to receive a crappy service with no end results that ends up in a fat bill that makes NO SENSE. We got referred to go here to get hard contacts. While my husband was there, they had him fitted for some "special" contacts which he didn't need. It was suggested by the doctor but never mentioned they were going to charge us thousands of dollars for it. We refused these contacts anyways bc they didnt fit right. Let along we didnt even receive ANY contacts from them. We called many times and left voicemails but no returned calls. 4 months goes by and they sent us a bill for services we did not receive and products we did not get. Won't ever go back here. Went twice. Second year was doing contacts. They told me to have them sent to office, because at my follow up, if adjustments are needed they will automatically be sent back to be changed. Website allows you to email them, but they do not respond. Got message when the "trials" came in and they called to come pick them up. Here we are over a year later, and still nothing. Insurance Fraud. I'd give 0 stars if that was an option. Went to another doctor today and found my prescription has since changed even more. read more

After I had my exam first which went well. I purchased a very expensive pair of RayBan prescription glasses from this place last year. I then moved out of state. Here's the 2 issues I have with them, first I called and asked for my prescription to by sent to me, I had to talk to 2 people and they stated they had to mail it to me because they couldn't email it. I was okay with that and I gave them my new address. Unfortunately I never received my prescription in the mail. Since it was so close to needing a new yearly exam I didn't fret about not getting my prescription in t. Here's when my second issue arose, I went to target optical in my new town for my exam. Got a new prescription and ordered new lenses for my RayBan frames. Once they arrived we popped out the old lenses that I paid almost double for and realized they were not Ray Ban lenses like the new ones I got from target optical. No logo no nothing. What a rip off!!! And a joke. Get your glasses elsewhere! I am shocked! How the charge me so much for something I never received. Beware bait and switch. Plus the prices for the glasses and lenses are ridiculously high compared to other places! Seriously buyer beware. read more

I've been going to Dr. Palys for over 5 years, and her actual eye exam and process is great! She's very friendly. The issue is the front desk, trying to get ahold of someone who answers the phone to resolve a problem. If you need to schedule, there is a direct line to that. However, if you have a problem, it is extremely difficult to get ahold of someone to help, and I call back and try all the buttons, and nothing. It seems like others also are experiencing same issues. Please resolve this, customers may need to resolve problems. If a customer needs to resolve a problem they should be able to reach someone! At least at your initial appointment, the nurse/tech will ask you about your prescriptions and history of medical diagnosis. Be forewarned. When I made the appointment and when I called to confirm, I was not told I would need to provide that information. Even when I asked if there was case history paperwork I could complete ahead of time. I did not remember the spelling of my 2 prescriptions so it was an unnecessary frustration that would have been avoided if I had been asked to bring that information. The appointment got off to a rough start beyond the aforementioned season, but quickly improved. The Doctors are great! Personable, knowledgeable, and detailed. I highly recommend Dr. Sheeder. Se talked me through the pros and cons of two different kinds of contacts I was considering. The optical team is great. Obviously they steer you towards the more expensive frames, but will help you find a frame you like that is closer to budget/benefit. The gentleman I worked with was very patient and helped me pick between a few frames I liked and waited while I narrowed my choices down. He went through my benefits in detail and discussed the options for the lenses. I did have to have my eyes dialated for the first time. Unfortunately the second tech I saw did not explain that it was going to sting when she put the drops in. Nor did she explain we were also going to do a contest fitting before. She just sat down and told me to wash my hands. I asked why and she said, "For the contacts, but you don't have to wash your hands if you don't want to." There was no need for the snark, I have he right to know what is happening and why I am asked to do something. The Doctors, front staff, and optical team is great. The call center needs to let people know to bring their list of medications and the techs need to explain things to patients. I will definitely be returning as long as they stay contracted with my insurance. read more

This is my first time visiting Vision Source for my eye appointment and glasses. I was very impressed by their customer service and quality of staff. They also have streamlined workflow process to ensure that patients are not waiting for a long time. After checking in, I was seen by optometry technician Heather. She was very friendly, smart, and explained the whole process on what they are doing to ensure your eyes are taken care of. After the pre-examination, I was seen by Dr. Choy. She is one of the best optomitrist that I have seen since I started wearing prescription glasses. If I could give 0 starts I would. This place is a joke! First on my visit the guy helping with my glasses tried to scam me out of $500. I questioned him several times why am I paying out of pocket. I told him I wanted to use my insurance that I've used for years with them to cover the cost of my glasses. I asked him to look up my history. He told me my insurance no longer covers that, and I must have made a change. Turns out after a long fight back and forth the guy finally admitted that insurance does cover the cost, but he added additional charges that the doctor recommended...,I didn't ask for that!!! Don't order contact here!!! They let my contacts sit in the shelf for 3 weeks!!!! I kept calling asking if they were in, and They said no it's still in progress. They finally looked in the back, and found them. This hasn't only happened once. This has happened everytime I have ordered in the last 4 years. Earlier this year, I received a diagnosis here. Recently, the symptoms reoccured, and a doctor in another state which I am visiting came up with a completely different answer. The same tests were run. It turns out that I have permanent dry eyes, and not the easy answer given by this doctor. Also, the new doctor says the terminology being used was completely wrong, even if the original diagnosis had been correct. I also found out that I have minor stage 1 cataracts "to keep an eye on." I chose Vision Source via Google, and based on the exterior of the building. Will never make that mistake again. I felt that the doctor was not listening to me, and seemed perturbed with my questions. The staff had not called in my prescription as requested, and I had to stand in a long pharmacy line a SECOND time while waiting. read more

Tom is a great manager.. much improvement is needed in answering customer phone call's and the duration one is left waiting to speak to some can be much improved. when i have called the phone is answered and the first thing that's is said at times "can you please hold" then i have wait for a good time, having to hang up most of the time, at times the call is disconnect. then having to call again. read more

The actual Optometrist was GREAT! The store, however, was TERRIBLE! RX was spot on, but the store next door (Vision Source) SUCKS! First, they tried to fool us by not adding the darkening tint (which we paid extra for), thinking we wouldn't "catch it" before leaving the premises. They sent them back and I had to wait another week. Then, when the new ones came in, they didn't try to fit them on my face, or check the glasses. After leaving the store, we found out that they didn't add fog protection (which we paid for, too). UNLESS YOU WANT BAD SERVICE AND GET RIPPED OFF, NEVER GO HERE! read more

The service at this business is simply superb. I had a minor eye emergency in that one of my non-disposable contacts ripped and being that kind of person who doesn't want to wear glasses all the time, I desperately searched for a nearby optometrist. This place had plenty of appointment times so I was able to call and get an appointment that day. They let me know within a few hours if they were able to take my insurance too. While they didn't take my insurance, because I was a new patient, they discounted my first visit. The optometrist who worked with me was a 4th year student and she was amazing. That same day, they gave me some contacts to tie me over and rushed my order for my contacts since I was leaving San Antonio in two weeks. So instead of getting my contacts in 3-4 weeks, I got them in a few days which I really appreciated. Vision Source also has great hours so if you get out late from work and can't make it to normal business hours, you might be lucky as a few days out of the week they are open until 8pm. read more

It is no wonder her practice has grown so large, as she is a wonderfully skilled and patient optometrist. Although her office is always buzzing with patients of all ages, she and her staff do a superb job of making you feel as though you are their top priority. This location offers a multitude of appointment times throughout the day and employees work together to make sure that not only are appointments seen on time, but also wait time between vision tests and seeing the actual Doctor are minimal. They have a large selection of frames and contact lens to meet everyone's needs. The doctor and assistants were perfectly fine--my rating is for the optical salon. I brought in some frames to have lenses replaced. The assembly lasted two weeks. The glasses literally fell apart because of the adhesive they used. When I went to have them repaired, they rudely said they couldn't do a thing, despite the fact that it was obviously shoddy work. I paid a ton of money for glasses that can't even be used. Really disappointed in their service. read more

The eye exam visit was great. Staff was friendly and the process to get to the eye exam went quickly. I ordered a pair of glasses through this business and that is where the frustration begins. I was told to call the first week into the new year. I did over and over and over. Their business phone repeatedly hung up when no one picked up the line. The one time someone did answer I was ask to hold and thirty seconds later it hung up on me again. I have tried to get through phone and contact on their website. No one responds. I went in person today to found out where my glasses were. The rep called the eyeglass place. Good news, they are going to open ticket to expedite me receiving them. It has been almost a month since I ordered them. I paid for them in full the day the ordered was taken. You can tell that the problems above are reoccurring because the rep who waited on me was reserved and kept saying the lines were acting funny. My glasses are high dollar because I am pretty much blind without them. Right now I am not getting a good feeling about getting my glasses. I will add to post later when the final event happens. Terrible front desk personnel. Went in to this location this morning and made an appointment with the store manager for a 3:40 PM exam . I told the manager that was fine and I would return for my 3:40 PM appointment. When I did return and sit there until 4 o'clock and was not called for my appointment I asked the front desk personnel about it and they said that I had not signed in. I advised him that I was not told to sign in or check in with the desk. I assumed my appointment was for 3:40 PM and I would be called. The desk personnel advised me that that was their procedure. I told them if I had been told to check in with the front desk or sign in I would have done that. I canceled my appointment and told them that they were not good at communicating their procedures to their customers. I will not do business with this location again. I've never been to a business where they expect the customer to know what their procedures are without them explaining them or saying what they are . I would not recommend this location to anyone. read more

While their optometrist services are good, It is very obvious that they want to make as much money from you as they can. I went for a contacts appointment and was given a pair to try with instructions for a follow up appointment to see if they worked for me. On the day of my appointment I received a call from them telling me that the Dr. wanted a glaucoma test. I said no. I've had one in the past. My parents ( 80 yrs. + ) don't have it, and didn't see the need to pay for one ( $39). They told me that there was no need for me to go If I was not having the glaucoma test. I reminded them that this was a contact lenses follow up, which she said, well if they are working for you, just pick up your prescription and I am cancelling your appointment. I Very rude. By the way, my mother's glasses were going to be more than 600 dlls, and we got them at Sams for 240. Less than half. Also, the front desk staff is extremely dry. I am not going back. I do not recommend this office. UPDATE: I received a call from the optometrist regarding this review, explaining in detail that due to my condition she considered necessary to have the glaucoma test. She is very nice and professional and have nothing against her. It doesn't change the fact that the front desk staff did not handle it right and were rude. They apologized. read more

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!! The staff here is so clueless and have no idea what they are doing or how to even handle insurance claims! Where do I start? My first visit with them for contacts I waited almost an hour to be seen, then the Dr just throws contacts in my eyes, not asking my prefernces or ANYTHING! Then I had to be instructed on how to take them out-by that I mean someone sitting there watching me annoyed bc it was time for her to leave since they kept me there ALL night! Do you think those contacts worked? NOPE! So I had to pay extra out of pocket--to them! Then my husband is next and they have him waiting just as long! He told them he wanted contacts that were covered and only one exam so he wouldnt have to pay out of pocket. After getting contacts, we argued with the people at the front desk for about 20 minutes that we didnt have to pay-we have insurance! I would have called the insurance company but our appt was at 5pm and we were still there at 8pm arguing and they were closed. Long story short, they "realized" we didnt have to pay and it was settled, never to go back again! BUT WAIT, two months later we get a bill in the mail saying we owe a fitting fee! And we were being charged late fees! Are you kidding?! I called the insurance company bc when I called Vision Source, they told me since I got contacts in network then I had to pay 60 bucks in fitting fees. Clearly on my coverage it states that it IS covered since I got covered contacts. THEN someone else comes on the phone and told me we chose non-covered contacts! I hung up and called my insurance immediately and they were baffled! I filed a complaint with them and a supervisor there had to contact Vision Source to EXPLAIN how insurance coverage works! THESE PEOPLE ARE MONEY HUNGRY OR JUST PLAIN STUPID! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!!!!! read more
