I've been coming here for almost 40 years. I lived on Evergreen around the corner growing up and would always get Pam's French crulers for breakfast. I would go get scoops of ice cream there in the summers and when I got into high school I would get my morning, hot chocolate and doughnut before I went to wait for the bus. On a quest for glazed buttermilk donuts today. After my wife mentioned her failed attempt at Spudnuts for buttermilk yesterday (door locked and out of donuts), l went on the lookout, a bit later then I had planned, hopefully with better results today. Of course Spudnuts was my first stop, always great donuts but by late morning usually not much available. I had planned to get out earlier but sometimes retired life makes you bed hug well into the morning. But they did have 2 buttermilk, one even glazed with maple. I also ordered 4 regular glazed donuts and a hot chocolate; but my quest continued. But I also remembered Pam's Donuts just down the street. Next door to Thai Chefs, one of my favorite area Thai spots but strangely, I hadn't been to Pam's for donuts other than once shortly after moving to the area which was back in 2006. So making my way the short distance down Seco Canyon, I pulled into the lot and stepping into Pam's, BAM! A veritable smorgasbord of donuts in large quantities and every variety anyone could ever hope for. But on first scanning I didn't see the buttermilks. So I asked the proprietor who had been in the back but was now offering to help. And low and behold, a full tray of glazed buttermilks I somehow overlooked. And we're talking right around the noon hour when many other donut shops are displaying near empty glass cases. Requesting 4 and getting them back home...fresh and delicious! I'll definitely be heading to Pam's Donuts again. read more

I've been a customer of Pam's for years. Like many businesses, they are struggling through this pandemic, but Anita still has a smile in her eyes and a friendly greeting every time I go there. Many shops are cutting down selection or quantity of product, but they always have full cases and a full assortment of flavors. My personal recommendation is their apple fritter and the buttermilk bars. Family operations always preferred by me over chains or franchises. Give them a try! read more

Ok here's the situation... It's getting late (for bakeries) on a Friday night.. about 7pm and I need some donuts ASAP! I hit up my Yelp app for guidance to double check business times of my go to donut joint. It appeared I am in luck and some spots are open. Well not so fast. Yeap apparently some of the donut shops in my area need some updating, luckily Pam's in fact open as listed. I follow my fellow Yelper's advice and head over to Pam's Donuts & Ice Cream to grab my needed dozen. Selection at night wasn't bad and donuts looked good. A dozen was only $10 so that was nice. The woman behind the counter [Pam?] was nice and eager to get my dozen filled, she even threw in some specialty (larger) donuts and muffins in for the same price - sweet!. I hit a bit of a speed bump when I went to pay. Whoops - CASH ONLY. Only a speed bump tho, she pointed me to the ATM inside. It had to be booted up from being turned off so I waited about 5 minutes. Funny thing though, as I waited in the corner she hollered at me "I'm giving you two more" and placed two more donuts in my box. It was taking a little longer than I think she anticipated so she once again announced "ok, I give you two more" (and they were specialty ones!!). Welll thank you very much! Either she felt bad for me having to wait, or she was dumping the late in the day surplus of donuts on me to make way for the morning replenish. Either way I was winning. Got my cash money and finished the transaction. Donuts here were fairly good. Not overly greasy like some chain places around here. I appreciate the friendly and generous customer service so I will be back. Oh and I happen to have a slight fixation for donut / ice cream in one shops. There's just all kinds of fun happening in there. Parking is a bit sketchy. The strip mall is very busy with a popular restaurant, so be warned. read more

This shop is on the opposite side of this valley from my home, but I was on that side and we decided to try it even though it was late in the day. Pretty good selection and friendly service. Firstly, I actually like Pams donuts, when they are available, I will get to that later. The lady is friendly and the donuts are tasty when i m off my diet and in the mood for one. My kids love the milkshakes and the other day I had a Mango Boba, it was pretty good. It wasn't the best I've had but it sure wasn't the worst. First; cash only....In this era that's just dumb. We all know why they do it...hellooooooo IRS. Second; this place could use a good cleaning ...broken tiles, dust on counter and clutter everywhere. Third; this is my biggest pet peeve with this place. I get up at zero dark thirty. If I stop by Pams at 5 am or 5:30 am..the selection is sparse. Want a maple bar...oh they dont have them yet...hmmmm bear claw..nope....when will they be ready at 10? because its morning and its time to sell some donuts. When I grew up my neighbors owned 2 donut shops. They started making donuts at 3 or 3:30 am....you know why? In order to fill that case when people started coming in at 5am. That's just good business. Let's fill that case give our customers a good selection and move some donuts people. Typical mom and pop selection of doughnuts with a few extra items (scones, muffins, croissants, ice cream and lotto tickets) but with great service. My go to place whenever I am craving a doughnut. Came back in early on a Saturday morning after dropping my dad off at the airport. It was just before 8am and the placed was packed. I got worried because there weren't many donuts in the case and I only saw 2 chocolate donuts left and there were 6 people in front of me. The line continued to grow behind me and my only complaint is that I actually had to ask the people in front of me to move forward so the line didn't have to go out the door. Why people feel the need to stand 5 feet away from each other in a line is incomprehensible to me anyhow. People of Saugus: get a clue. I love coming here. I've never once had a bad experience. This place has been here for MANY years now, and my go-to used to be their cinnamon roll with a chocolate milk. Now, I get their twisted one with chocolate chips on it - with an apple juice or something. They're very nice and patient here.
