My husband and I have been here 2 times and confirmed that the bread they sell is dry. Tasted like day old bread. Maybe it's not, but it really tasted like it. Another thing, whomever the woman tending the counter is, she is NOT friendly at all. In fact, her demeanor alone is enough to deter customers from buying anything. Placed an $1500 order for 1000 pieces of pan dulce and scheduled to pay in person in adnvanced the day before the event. The morning I was supposed to pay for the event they call me wanting 100% of the cost in cash. This was a company order and made really clear of that prior. Corporations don't pay out in cash. They left me scrambling to find a bakery who was willing to take on the job with less than 24 hour notice. They lost the possibility of continued business with a huge company. I have no clue what the names of the pastries/cookies are so I point at the ones I want. I like the crescent shaped sweet sugary bread one that has pink bread in the middle. I also like the oval shaped one that is easy to dunk in my coffee. Their cookies are really good too. Large and very filling. The one with sprinkles is my favorite. Dude likes the chocolate chip one - its crumbly like a shortbread. They take ATM/Debit cards but there is a very small fee. Manteca has the best Pan Dulce at Laurita's Bakery! I come here super early on the weekends and get my fresh pan dulce from here. I just ordered a cake for my Son's 6th b-day. I had one chocolate layer, one Vanilla Layer with Strawberries and Banana filling. The fruit was fresh considering it was already Winter. The design was beautiful and they had it made on time! After having a huge meal at Johnny's, we saw that this bakery was open and I knew I wanted a Mexican sweet roll with my morning cafe con leche. God bless the fiance who did a semi-uey so that I could get some morning grub. We got there just before they closed last night but the woman at the counter was friendly. I got two rolls and two sweet empanadas (one sweet potato and the other strawberry). When we got home last night we were greeted with no electricity so I forgot the pastries in the car and thought we'd have sweet hockey pucks this morning. No sir-ee! I popped those babies in the oven, wrapped in foil, and a few minutes later we had warm rolls and empanadas that were delicioso! I know other Yelpers have had the experience of going to a bakery at the end of the day and encountering old/hard pastries. They were soft and fresh enough last night to eat but we were stuffed. This morning they were just as good but shivering (since they spent the night in the car) - and at $2.45 (with the Ice Cream Tea Cookie last night) a bargain.
