Yes, getting that sugar fix taken care of. Had a craving for pan dulce and like always the bread here is made fresh daily. Biting into the cuernitos and the bread is soft and sugary, yum. Came in for the tamales as I've heard so much about them. Everything in the bakery cases looked delicious and the smell of tamales wafting through the air had me super excited. I was served with excitement when I mentioned I was the due to their tamale hype and was told they were super good. I ordered half a dozen of both the chicken and pork tamales and took them home for my husband to also try. While the tamales were a good size, the masa to meat ratio was more masa to a slight dab of filling and no sauce. They were too dry for me. I went here today to buy pastries. I paid $7.85 for two conchas and two pumpkin empanadas. A bit expensive. I wonder if I was ripped off?? Their chicken burrito is stewed shredded meat and lacks flavor, skimpy on that and fillings most of it is tortilla. Service was a no. Not really very good. We did not find the selection appealing either even though almost all pastry windows were full. Just nothing seemed appealing to us. And we love a good bakery. I can't believe no one here speaks English so you can place an order. Plus you can't pre-order to pick up later. They want you to order so you can pay at the counter when you pick up. I ordered by phone the year before and they let me place the order from San Jose and pickup the next morning in Morgan Hill and pay then. This is no way to run a business especially if one doesn't speak Spanish. They can't even let me order by phone and give them my credit card number to pay in advance. Let me start off by saying I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to pan dulce. I've been here 3-4 times they have a great selection of pan dulce I don't know the names of everything, but it's always fresh and delicious. They have a nice selection of bottled beverages. And there are slices of flan and tres leches in the fridge. They also offer fresh made beverages. And there is a lunch style menu with tacos, burritos and more. We bought a burrito and a Cuban sandwich. Watched her make burrito (rice and bean) and she scooped the rice and beans up and microwaved them until they got hot then put a slice of cheese food on the tortilla and rolled. Any Mexican restaurant that uses fake cheese is a disgrace. The Cuban sandwich was a gloopy mess - wrong meats were used - including a sliced hot dog - and it was visually disgusting. If I can give no stars I would, I tried to make an order for Tamales on a specific date for Christmas eve. The lady that was supposed to "help" me was so rude; she refused to give me service just because I did not speak Spanish. But I feel the need to publicly condemn the practice of being out of literally everything on your menu while you're still open. We're starving after a night of unlimited bowling at Morgan Hill Bowl, and are almost resigned to eating at In-n-Out (gross) due to everything else being closed (it's only 9:10). But hark! This place has wonderful bread. Been here twice and each time the bread we brought home was delicious. My favorite is the bread pudding... quite possibly one of the best Ive had. I am only giving 4 stars because I like the Panaderia's where you can fill up your own tray at your own pace. This pace the lady just stares at you while you try to decide.
