I've finally found a good shrimp burrito and mango margaritas in town!! Fun spot for a girls night dinner or drinks date with my husband. Service was decent but make sure to pay at the front, we didn't know and waited a while for our bill. Great spot though!

I was working in Salina's area today and was starving on my route back to SJ. Decided to stop by this restaurant since it was on the way. I saw that they had sopes on the meñu, and as a part michoacano myself, I had to try them. I don't think they were Michoacán styled because they were almost like borderline gorditas, but they had a home made authentic flavor and were still delicious. I could tell the masa shell was made by hand and I liked that the beef wasn't too fatty either, of course there are other meat options which I thought was nice. It was a slow afternoon but I'm sure this place gets busy for dinner the aesthetic of the restaurant is very dinner vibes (maybe because of the lighting it's kind of dark inside). My only note is I wish the salsa options they had were spicy haha I found them all to be mild,l but with good flavor (pónganle más chile a sus salsas no tengan miedo! Jaja)

The food was really good. We shared the following: Molcajete Mar y Tierra $49 Flour Tortillas Side order rice Side order beans Pina colada Margarita Our total was $105.61 We were charged 3% CONV fee $3.08 because we did not pay with cash

Cheese 2 enchiladas plate, was sour but ok

We normally go to Culichis for their shrimp/octopus tacos. the pics on here looked tasty so we figured we would give it a try. The salsa w chips were very good but very spicy. The table was super sticky i asked for a rag and she said it was just the table. My mom ordered the Shrimp and octopus with rice and beans and said it was a Lil too spicy but good. She was told it wasn't spicy. My daughter ordered the Cheese enchiladas w green sauce, says was sour and was ok.I got the fajitas salad w shrimp and octopus. Shrimp and octopus has good flavor. Not sure why they say its fajita because it was just regular salad, not fajita anything. So I just ate the shrimp and octopus. The service wasn't good. We sat down and the lady handed us the menu and asked what we wanted literally as she handed us the menus. We said we need a few minutes. She came back like 30 seconds later and I told her we need a few minutes. She never came back to check on us. There was only one other table with people at it. So we had to find the waitress, wave her down to get the check. She dropped the check and left. After 10 minutes of waiting thinking she was going to come back to get the check, we went to the front and paid the check.

Bacon wrapped shrimp was cooked perfect, drink was delicious!

We had an amazing experience at El Michoacano VIP! I ordered the ceviche de pescado y camarón, and it was so fresh and delicioso! My husband had the queso birria tacos--absolutely outstanding--and the bacon-wrapped shrimp, which were perfectly cooked. Our server Diana was amazing! She was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. The whole place had such a great vibe--fun, welcoming, and full of energy. We'll definitely be back!

I really love this place, I got the "ostiones en su concha con ceviche de camarones" it was extremely tasty and juicy and the staff was very polite. Definitely a 5 stars review for this place, I really recommend it if you love Mexican food! Thanks, Mr. Merino.

Sangria fit for a queen ..me in case you didn't know

So glad that I had the chance to come back. I really wanted to like this place the first time around. I don't know if thus place is under new management or they did a revamp of everything from the quality of food to the service. Whatever it was it was a change for the absolute better. This place shares a large parking lot so parking doesn't seem to be a problem. We were seated fairly quickly. We opted to sit in their outdoor covered patio. Which was nice. Mid-dinner it got a little chilly and the waitress turned on the patio heater neatest to us. We came on a Friday met up with my sister in law and her husband to discuss my nieces Quince. We weren't planning to stay as long as we did but we ended up ordering a second round of drinks AFTER we had already paid for our first round and finished dinner. I had flautas with a side of rice. Flautas were definitely made in-house, chicken was seasoned and they were crispy. Came with a side salad, pickles red onions and guacamole. Husband ordered their mixes fajitas and was delighted to discover their corn tortillas were made to order. To drink I ordered their white wine sangria and hubby ordered a michelada. My drink came on a pedestal that was literally smoking. Brother in law had the shrimp plate that he seemed to enjoy. Sister in law had their chile relleno appetizer. Can't remember what they drank. As we were ending our meeting we noticed the waitresses were huddled and had glow sticks and out came a large airplane which was adorned with 10..YES, TEN SHOTS! The waitress in the front of the line announced into a mega phone that there was a birthday in the house. The others blew into their whistles and the music began to blare over the speakers. It was "Shots" by Lil Jon and they walked into the interior of the restaurant and circled the table of the celebrant, while waving their glow sticks and blowing their whistles. It was fun! Very similar to something I saw on TikTok of a restaurant I think is down South. We then decided to order our second round of drinks and I liked my sangria so much I needed a replay. Only this time they brought it out in a glass birdcage and again, it was smoking. I was so excited..lol. Then my husband's mango margarita and sisters cucumber margarita came in a large plastic flamingo and IT TOO was smoking and had a whole sparkler! Bathroom was clean and well stocked with papertowels and tp. We'll be back. Thank you for a great time!

    The Margaritas and large Mariscada
    Leonor R.

The Mariscada is a seafood banquet with all your grilled favorites: crabs, prawns, abalone, squid, white fish, mussels, on a bed of onions, red & green peppers & rice. The platter is not only a gastronomic delight but is visually pleasing. The seafood tasted fresh & seasoned well. The large platter was very filling for the four of us. The bed of veggies & rice was the perfect compliment. We returned to this restaurant after a three year absence because of this platter! It was definitely worth the 90 minute drive. This time, we appreciated the option to tone down the heat level to mild. Honestly, I've only had this dish at this restaurant. It's why we come here. Tonight we also tried the original Margarita & the Mango Margarita. It was presented in glass boxes with sparkling "ice". These made the table really pretty. The margaritas were light cold cocktails. I may have to specify the tequila next time for more "kick". Service is friendly & attentive. The dining room has been touched up since our last visit. It is better lit, tables spaced farther, and more comfortable. Two large murals hug the room & elevated the ambience even more.

The service was good. They're busy and they don't have enough servers, which is not their fault. The ambiance is great. They have live music. This is probably the main reason why I come and will continue to come regardless of the food. This time, I got a wet burrito. The burrito is average. Lol it's a burrito. I have to come back to try their seafood and drinks.

    Molcajete Michoacano & Camarones Momia
    Blesd E.

I ordered Camarones Momia and hubby had the Molcajete Michoacano! Excellent food and service. Sorry didn't take such great pics but damn the food was goood so if your ever in Gilroy try El Michoacano!

The sweetest, saltiest margarita ever!! Two thumbs down!

I've even been using AI to help me find healthier restaurant options, which is how I came across Tacos America. It recommended the restaurant because they grill their chicken, so we were excited to try it. When we arrived, we saw them grilling meat outside and thought, "Perfect! This is exactly what we're looking for." Since the tacos are topped with vegetables, we felt like this would be a great, healthier option. Unfortunately, that's not what happened. While we were waiting, the people ahead of us ordered tripe. The tripe was being heated on the Blackstone in lard, and you could see it sizzling in the lard. After they removed the tripe and served it, it was time to prepare our tacos. They put our grilled chicken on that same surface with the same lard that had just been used for the tripe. I'm not someone who likes to complain, so I didn't say anything at the time. Looking back, I wish I had. I understand that they need to heat the meat before serving it, but if you are advertising grilled chicken as an option, customers should be able to expect that chicken to remain a healthier choice. At the very least, customers should be told if their food is going to be heated in lard and given the opportunity to say no. For someone like me, the entire reason for ordering chicken instead of fatty meats is to avoid exactly that. If I wanted my chicken cooked in lard, I could have ordered something else. It was especially frustrating because we specifically chose this restaurant believing we were making a healthier choice. As for the tacos themselves, they were good. Unfortunately, I ended up taking the chicken out of the tacos and only ate about 1/3 of it because I didn't feel comfortable eating all of it after seeing it heated in lard. I hated wasting the food, but I'm trying to take my diet seriously for my health. I really hope Tacos America considers this. If you offer grilled chicken as a healthier option, please don't put it on a surface covered in lard without telling the customer. There may be people ordering chicken for medical or dietary reasons who cannot eat lard or added fats. A simple question or warning would have made a huge difference. The tacos were good, but unfortunately, the way the chicken was handled completely defeated the reason we chose them in the first place.

A girl who sat us ended up being our server but took a very long time for her to come back out to even take our drink orders. I had to ask the guy bringing water and tortilla chips who our server was. Once our server arrived she was very nice and answered our menu questions. I ordered the the spicy Mamacita and my friend ordered the pina colada. Both drinks looked cool but mine was very sweet, not really spicy at all and was tiny for $15. I think I mostly paid for the presentation part...flower, popsicle, etc. We both ordered the 3 taco trio and the food came out before long. I had a mahi mahi, carne asada and a taco macho. Again, the food wasn't that great: rice and beans had an off flavor, octopus was chewy in the taco macho, and the mahi was a bit fishy. We took half our food to go and checked out. All in all I would not come back unless it was out of convenience due to the location. The food and drinks have a nice presentation, but the taste of everything wasn't there for me.
