There is no bad. Pancho's is a steady comfort food. There are other places I go when I really want Mexican fare, but the food here is yummy. I never regret going there. Walked in to order 2 quesadillas for takeout, asked to order chips also, was told they come with everything. They did not give us chips so went back in and was told they don't come with apps. Would have purchased when we placed order. Very rude and argumentative. read more

I hadn't been there in awhile and now I remember why. I was meeting some friends and got there early. I was going to sit at the bar and enjoy a margarita. I didn't see a bar so I asked the gentleman working there where the bar was. He said there was no bar but gestured towards what I guess was the actual bar. It looked more like a diner countertop. But he made it seem like I couldn't sit there. So I pointed to the open seating area on the other side opposite of the "bar". I asked if I could sit there and he said no it was closed. So I said where can I sit and he pointed at the booths and tables. So because we had 5 people I found a table in the far corner. The waitress came right over and I asked what flavors of margaritas did they have? She named off a couple so I ordered a mango one. When she brought my drink, she handed me the menu. I found there to be a few more options for margaritas but too late. I took a sip of the margarita and right away I didn't like it. It was super sweet. I tried to get through it but I couldn't drink it. My friends showed up and we ordered. I ordered the chicken fajita. Between the horrible margarita and the bland chicken that was cut into large chunks (and that's not the only thing), it was a disappointing experience. My friends said the chips were stale and food was bland! The waitress asked about the drink since I didn't drink it. I told her I didn't like it. Apparently that meant nothing. I was still charged. Oh well. Never going back. Skip it! read more

Stopped here for lunch. Got the lunch fajita plate with beef. Food was ok. Rice was under seasoned. The beef was tough. Refried beans is typical for these type of place. They bring you chips and salsa when you first sit down. Salsa given in individual containers. Chips were good. Salsa pretty good too, with a bit of heat which I liked. Service is ok. Server forgot to bring tortillas for my mean and refill diet Pepsi for significant other until she was able to flag down someone to remind them. This is after waiting what feels like close to 10 minutes after I got my meal. When notified the situation was quickly resolved. I like their sister restaurant off of Exit 9 of the Northway better... but maybe coming in in the early afternoon wasn't the best time, after lunch rush. read more

We always loved the food at Pancho's because it was very consistent...looked the same and tasted the same each time. We tend to order the same items each visit, so we were definitely aware of the difference tonight. First, the plates were not hot (temperature)...which kept the food hotter longer. My portion was much smaller, had very little sauce and sour cream on it, and the rice had some hard pieces. It was not spiced as well as usual...flavor was blah. My husband's meal was lacking taste also, and we both feel it was not the same as in previous visits. Possibly new chef or new owners? Will not go back! Not worth what we paid. read more

It has been many years since I last visited Pancho's of Clifton Park. It appears that it has expanded in the past few years to include the space next door. It is possible that it's been that long since I dined at Pancho's that these were changes a long time ago. Since it's in a small strip mall on Crescent Road, there was plenty of parking. We were seated quickly considering the number of patrons that were arriving for lunch. Staff were very accommodating but perhaps another server would help with a lunch rush. The menu is not as extensive as a few other Mexican venues both in Clifton Park and Latham. That being said, I can always find a dish that will work. I chose the lunch special "Pollo Jalisco" The menu calls it - "A delicious portion of marinated chicken breast, topped with a layer of melted cheese & ranchero sauce. Served with Mexican rice, lettuce, tomatoes & sour cream." Now the bad of the dish - the chicken breast was a very thin slice of chicken that had a funny (not in a good way) texture. The cheese sauce was palatable but bland, the side of lettuce & tomatoes was just that a tiny side of lettuce with chopped tomatoes on top with a glob of sour cream. Rice was just rice. Fortunately, there were two bottles of hot sauce to give it a bit of kick. Not all Mexican food is spicy so it may just have been my choice of lunch special. If you want a quick lunch, this may be the spot for you. read more

The food is tasteless. I don't understand why there is 0 flavor to this place. The chicken and beef are literally just cooked no salt or pepper even. It makes no sense to me why places like this use 0 seasoning. To add insult to the edible but tasteless food, there was hair in one of our dishes. The food was so bland it wasn't worth complaining about because we weren't finishing it anyway. 2 stars because at least the chips and salsa were ok. And they had Coke instead of Pepsi. read more

Lunch menu not available on weekends. We showed up around noon, could see the lunch menu which had several offerings that would be ideal for a brunch, but couldn't order from it. Weird. Many of the lunch menu items have eggs and chorizo making those entrees ideal for brunches. Why open at lunchtime and not offer a lunch menu like most places? read more

I cannot review the food because it never came. I cannot review the service because they never brought the food or explained why it is taking so long. People who came in after us were receiving their orders. It was lunch on Friday at 1PM. Half of the restaurant is closed off. The open part was about 1/2 full with people coming and going. We left and advised the servers we are not waiting any longer. I went on the internet to try to send an email to the owners about this incident but had no luck finding any contact email. I know from my years as a sales manager you can't fix a problem if you don't know there is a problem. Located in the northwest corner of the Plaza 8 strip mall. My friend and I enjoy dining at this location and at the Brunswick location. The chips and salsa are good. The fajitas (chicken and shrimp) and the chimichangas are excellent. My favorite dinner here is the "Special Dinner." Over three plates, I was served a Pork Tamale, a Beef Enchilada, a Bean Chalupa, a Beef Chile Rellano, a Beef Taco, Mexican rice & beans. There was a lot of food and I had to have some boxed up to go. The service is very good here, our server brought out soda refills without being asked. read more

Summary- I may have gotten a bit too excited when I went to 4 Stars. NOTE: This Pancho's is NOT associated with the others. Avoid bar drinks stick with things that aren't mixed. Food- 3 Stars Chips and Salsa were pretty good, nice warm chips and very mild but fresh salsa (add some hot sauce they have El Yucateco in great supply) Everything is pretty simple, but the meats they use are flavorful and well cooked (stewed kinda) which makes the base for everything pretty darn good. The Chimichanga's are still the best thing we have had here. This last visit the dishes were SWIMMING in too much sauce, everything became mush. Service- 2 Stars Downgrade. In the past always friendly and timely (and always women). This time the guy waiting on us was too quiet, forgot about us at least once and I could see him watching T.V. and sitting at the bar. Megafail. Atmosphere- 2 Stars Feels like a chain Mexican place. I don't like TV's in dining areas, WHY!?!?! They also need to clean in a few decorative areas, they are gross. Value- 5 Stars Lots of decent quality food for short $$$. Drinks- 2 Stars Didn't try anything fancy, but they had Negro Modelo, so that's good. My family and I were driving from NYC and needed to stop for a quick bite. We decided to eat here instead of a quick fast food restaurant. The owner treated us with utmost hospitality. He explained that everything would be disposable (cups, napkins, utensils) because of COVID. The lunch specials are really affordable and are huge! Our family is Mexican and we were expecting Tex-Amex styled food but were pleasantly surprised. The food tasted like authentic Mexican food. Sorry to say my wife and I where very disappointed with Pancho's. The Margarita's they served us where the worst we've ever had at a Restaurant, so watered down they tasted like funny tasting water. The manager said the Ice must have done it. They are made earlier and kept in a circulating cooler with ice??? The meats in my Fieta where dried out and tasteless, probably cooked earlier and held for quite a while before my order. The jalapeno peppers where sprinkled on the top of my dish and not cooked to at least kill the vinegar flavor from the pickled bottle they came from, not fresh peppers. My wife' s meal was sitting in a puddle of grease in the bottom of the plate from the chorizo sausage topping that they probably ladled out of a holding bowl near the grill, and got more grease that meat. We will never waste our time going back there again, there are better places in the area ! read more

Fantastic day to have lunch with my daughter on a Saturday afternoon. Luis was our server and was quite helpful as it was my daughters first time there and my first return time in a long time. Online orders consistently take too long to fill. Orders typically involve a 60 minute wait before they are ready for pickup regardless of the time in the week. Most restaurants in the area keep that to 30-40 minutes. Margaritas also don't taste as good as they could be when dining in. Not sure what's going on there. Friends visiting from out of town noted the same without any prompting. Other Mexican restaurants in the Capital Region have that popular drink locked in. read more

The meal in itself was delicious. The service was downright hostile. I brought my wife there on her birthday for dinner after a day on the motorcycle. We asked to sit outside. We followed another couple as they were seated. We watched them order , and get served and we were ignored. Then another family was being seated on the other side of us and they were asked for there drink order. I will admit my fuse was about to blow but my wife kept me calm. Seeing how angry I was someone finally came to take our drink order. We took that opportunity to place our food order as well. After eating we were waiting for the check, and waiting , and waiting. So we got up to go inside to find someone to pay. They came rushing out the door as if we were trying to leave without paying even though we were walking in the door! I'm actually not going to knock Pancho's too hard. This is very much not my type of place, but we came here to meet friends for some drinks. The food we did have was fine. The chips with guacamole and salsa was good. But the drinks are something else. We were told the choices were "medium, large, and larger," so naturally I rounded down and figured the "large" was really the medium, and ordered a large beer. Well, THAT was wrong. The large was enormous. I'll hazard a guess and say it was 32 ounces. Luckily, it was Sloop Brewing's Juice Bomb, which is pretty good, but I still didn't finish it. So much liquid. On a Saturday night, there was a balloon animal guy walking around. There's a good amount of kids, but he was even hitting up the tables with only adults, which was cute. The buffet even looked decent, so for a cheap dinner out, this place could work, but mind the drink sizes. read more

I have gone to Poncho's on an off for 10+ years. I started going every Friday since the beginning of June and the service was superb. The past 2 to 3 weeks it has gone down hill. Tonight it was pathetic. Once our drink orders were taken and the kitchen secured the dinner order, the waitstaff gathered next to the register talking to each other and texting, never to be seen again. I am insulted to have received such pathetic service by the waitstaff. I intentionally left a terrible tip this evening. Not that my money is really needed by the server but because the tip was so bad, I can never show my face in there again. As much as I enjoyed the environment and the convenience to my house, my pride due to my bad tip, will keep me from ever returning. read more

I heart Panchos. Especially the Clifton Park location. It's clean, large, and 9 times out of 10 the wait staff is amazing. I've gone to the one in Troy, and while it's still great - It's not as good as the one is CP. In my humble opinion. Chips and salsa = AMAZING! I can easily gulp down a bottle of the salsa before they even take our drink orders! Yes, it's that good. Very flavorful without being too spicy (and I LOVE spicy, so for me to say it's good even for not being spicy .... you know it's GOOD!) ... And it's free endless baskets of chips and salsa so ENJOY! I've gotten a slew of different things from here. Carne asada plate, chicken quesadillas, carne asada tacos, burrito supremes (with steak instead of ground beef - much better that way but is a little extra charge), tacos, enchiladas, tomales, even the chili rellenos. My favorite would probably be the Carne asada tacos. They're pretty basic - Delicious meat on corn tortillas with a side of onions, cilantro, and lime. Add some salsa, beans, and rice and it's perfect! They have a good Ladies night on Thursdays, and daily specials as well. A well stocked bar area, amazing Sangria. .... Although, one time I ordered a mango Mojito and the gal must have put the order in wrong (for 2 seperate drinks) cause there was no mint at all in it. It was still yummy and half price (since it was ladies night) ... But I didn't fuss over it. It was delish! Pancho's Authentic Mexican? hmmm, not sure about the authentic part, but the food was good. We were greeted immediately for our party of 6, our waitress was friendly and brought our drinks, chips and salsa and appetizers, but then it was a ghost town after that. We waited almost an hour for our entrees and apparently we weren't the only ones. No one else was getting food either. Then all the sudden, everyone was getting their entrees at once, it was weird. The nacho, cheese, meat thing was good. it was a mixture of cheese, beef, tomato and onion. I"m not a beef eater, but the cheese part was good and the boys seemed to scarf it down. My enchiladas verde was okay, the verde was missing the sauce part, it was just a lump of green stuff on top. I"m not sure if that's just how they do it? or what.... THe rice was a little dry too. This has been our go to Mexican restaurant. For starters they have some of the best salsa. One of these days I'll just have the tortilla chips salsa and margaritas. Service has always been quick even with large crowds. Have you tried their 32oz margarita. Just found out that they have a spicier salsa available. We mixed the spicy with the regular salsa. Stopped in on a Friday afternoon, and the place was dead. Swiftly acknowledged and seated. Asked for a moment to review the menu, at which point I opened yelp and started to find my meal. Almost every review mentioned the quality authentic mexican affair, but warned against the chimichangas. But no real reviews guiding my choice, so I left it to the waitress, and asked her for a recommendation. Of course, she highly recommended the chimichangas... So I went for it, and asked for the steak. I am not sure if Pancho's had taken in the previous poor reviews of this dish into consideration, but I can only say that they were much better than expected, even borderline, great. We have eaten here numerous times over the years and always had the BEST service until tonight. The waiter tried to tell me the mixed berry margarita was actually a strawberry margarita and argued with me to make me one when I stated I didn't like the mixed berry. Then we were overcharged for the half priced drinks advertised and when we asked to speak to the manager the waiter stated the owner was in however he was too busy to come see us. I'm adding a quick sit down restaurant pandemic review. On Sunday my daughter and I had lunch inside at Pancho's. The food was great, and I would go back. I like how they offer their lunch menu on Sundays making it more affordable. When we sat down, I was told there was no tap water - Only bottled water, that chips and salsa were individual portions with no free refills. Everything except the plates with the hot food was disposable - Which I really don't like at a sit down place. I think I could deal with plastic cups, but I really didn't like eating chips and salsa in take out containers with plastic forks. I am hoping this is something short term to keep this in business until business picks up. What is important is that the food is still great and a good value. read more
