Entree's ordered were a medium rare hamburger with fries (grandson) and Chicken sandwich with the tuna mac salad (SIL). Come for the beautiful atmosphere and great service! There's an outdoor seating area with a fire pit and beautiful dancing fountains. Inside has a woodsy/cottage atmosphere. I had higher expectations for the bees knees flatbread, but it was just OK. However many of the other dishes ordered at my table looked better than mine though. We also had 2 dairy free and a vegan people in our group, and I was surprised and disappointed they didn't have anything vegan on their menu, or able to really recommend much. I loved this place! I also had a good experience and it was a busy night to boot! I ate outside on one of their beautiful raised decks and honestly it made me feel like I was on vacation. I ordered unsweetened ice tea and the Figgy Piggy Burger. Cheeseburgers are practically a food group for me and this burger was Aces! I highly recommend it! I was at The Mill on Round Lake for dinner, as their parking lot is mostly packed whenever I drive by. It appears busy both on weekdays as well as weekends which is always a good sign. They have an immense indoor seating area and bar. Also a nice outdoor patio that is rather spacious and inviting with a pond next to it. Definitely a relaxing space that is fun and enjoyable. Upon arrival we were seated right away and we were able to get a table on the patio which was super. First off, their drink menu has a good selection of beverages both seasonal and regular offerings. Also, they have a variety of fun mocktails to try as well. Their food menu has the usual suspects of hearty bar fare along with surprisingly good additions that I really liked. We had a crock of onion soup, which was a little pricier than normal but well worth it. Also the siracha honey wings, and bangin shrimp to start. For our mains, the caesar salad, korean pork tacos, french dip panini with a side of tuna mac salad as well as the bruschetta chicken panini with tuna mac salad. The starters came out hot and all rather tasty. The confusion came when the mains were brought to our table. Everything came to our table minus the bruschetta chicken panini. It turns out that they mixed up the two panini sandwiches as the au jus was served with the chicken panini. It was hard to tell until half eaten as it appeared to have the makings of the other sandwich but with chicken. Another server appeared shortly after, but with the french dip panini. This server realized that the sandwiches were switched and kindly offered to remake me a new one. I appreciated this extra effort so didn't mind the wait. Unfortunately as the night went on, my party finished their meal. I never got my bruschetta chicken brought to me. When we asked for the check, we explained to a different server, what happened. She was surprised to hear that I never got my sandwich. The charge was taken off my bill and I was offered a bruschetta chicken panini to go. I felt that this was a nice gesture as it was getting late and I was sure that I'd be hungry once I got home. A gentleman who seemed to be in charge dropped off my to go bag with an apology which I thought was nice. All in all the service here, is a bit chaotic. Multiple servers help one another out, which is good. The bad is that things move quickly, so mix ups happen that way. I would still give The Mill another try as they do put in the effort and tried to make things right. They have a good attitude and are willing to make corrections as necessary. The tuna mac was one of the best I've had. Plenty of flavor! The turkey panini was also very good. I was expecting normal sandwich bread, but it was not. My sisters and I were looking for a place to have lunch and stumbled across The Mill on Round Lake. Great place inside and out. It was very busy due to a private "mug" event but the service was still great. We had the zucchini stink with truffle Parmesan. Very good. We also shared the bacon and fig flat bread, delicious. My sister had a burger which she said was cooked perfectly medium rare. My other sister had the original Mac and cheese. I had the Mexican salad. I have to be honest it was too spicy and I didn't even use the dressing. I actually couldn't eat it, but didn't want to complain. The Bloody Marys were very good. Love the atmosphere outside. I promised my husband to take him to The Mill on the River, in CT a year ago. He just decided to take me to The Mill on Roundlake, just to rub it in. Though the intent was wrong, I was actually impressed by the place and his thought. The place is a perfect getaway on a beautiful sunny day. The patio is planned and designed well. We only stopped by for an appetizer as we already had our dinner planned. Food was crunchy and mouth-watering (Nachos), though it was a stolen idea from a table across, as it looked good. The Mill on Round Lake is a average restaurant in a great location. The Mill is located right next to the Lake, hence the name and it offers a nice view. That being said, the food is just average at best. To embroider, I ordered the nachos as an appetizer. The tortilla chips were fine, but were definitely not homemade and the chicken was a bit dry. However, the queso was tasty and elevated the nachos. Following that, I ordered the Clint Eastwood burger (love the name) with fries. The burger was topped with barbecued shaved steak, sautéed onions, cheddar cheese, bacon, and a smoky BBQ mayo. The burger itself was a bit overcooked and the meat was bland. Despite that, the shaved steak added nice flavor and the BBQ mayo was excellent. Also, the bun was toasted correctly. The burger wasn't amazing, but it was decent. In addition, the fries were crispy and tasted fine. However, the burger was $16 which was way overpriced. Collectively, The Mill on Round Lake is a nice location, but the food is just mediocre. read more

Short story is if you want to visit The Mill for beers with friends, go for it. The downside is, you should probably skip ordering food altogether. Before I recount the sad state of our lunch, I'd like to mention the one positive of the experience. They have a nice patio for summer imbibing. Our afternoon meal was a series of follies that convinced me diners are better off keeping orders as simple (salads, burgers, mac and cheese) as possible or eating elsewhere. I thought I had kept it in the fairway ordering fish and chips (with an upgrade to waffle fries) and ribs for my companion. Simple enough, right? Sometimes simple is difficult. My fish was ok. Largely flavorless Fish inside unseasoned breading. Wouldn't recommend it, but it was edible. The chips, were the problem. My waffle fries came out undercooked, pale and chewy. I could taste some of the freezer residue still on them. I asked my waitress if she would replace them with a batch cooked well done and she returned after we finished our meal with a fries that were just as undercooked as the first batch. It made me think whichever cook is running the fryer had no idea that fries are supposed to brown, had the fryer temperature set too low or just needs to set his timer a couple minutes longer. In any event, the fries weren't cooked all the way through...twice! It should have occurred to the waitress that these were just as bad as the first batch, but she delivered them anyway. When they went barely touched she did offer to take them off the bill. Ok seems fair. Fries on the menu are sold for $6. She took a $2 charge off my bill. However, after you consider she upcharged $1 for the waffle fries, net she reduced the bill by only $1. Not miluch of a mea culpa and left me even more disappointed. If that were the only issue, we could consider it a one-off miss, but the ribs came with some of the cooks hair imbedded in the sauce and these were most likely precooked, industrial quality that was just reheated in the kitchen anyway. Not that I need to say more for you to get the picture, but the coleslaw had no discernible seasoning either, so was just as flavorless as everything else. To sum it up, I would recommend steering clear as the food was just plain bad, but they have a decent looking environment for a beer of the patio in the summer. read more

Mostly go to the mill for drinks in the summer but their food is great and love their outdoor space. I miss the days when they still had live music but it is still a very nice place to go for drinks, lunch or dinner. I love their salads and their appetizers. Everything is so fresh and made to order, they are very helpful with diet restrictions too. I had a vegetarian portabella sandwich here that was to die for also. A wonderful and spacious backyard space with two bars. We were sat by a very pleasant gentleman who let us choose where to sit. We had a great view of the fountain/pond. One star is for the band that we took friends to see...a super fun 80's cover band called "Hot Cousin". They are the reason why we visited the Mill and are the primary source of any stars at all. The second star is for the friendly (albeit spotty) service...the folks that worked there were nice but struggled to keep up. And...that second star also represents a cool building with a big bar area and a very nice outdoor space. But the food....yikes. Sorry....but everything was VERY sub-par. Stale nachos, burnt chicken chunks on the salad (this went WAY beyond charred), soggy bread with the burger and greasy beer cheese for the odd, tasteless chunks of pretzel. Thankfully my friends are forgiving and we enjoyed spending time with each other. Maybe we hit this on an off night? I don't know. I've been there twice in the past few weeks. They did a wonderful job remodeling the bar that used to be there.I love the outdoor seating next to the beautiful large pond Both times delicious food. The first time I ordered off the specials is it blacking Burger. I chose a small salad as a side. The burger had delicious chunks blue cheese and caramelized onions. and perfectly cooked to my liking . Yhe side salad with a good portion and very fresh. My second time I decided to try the boom boom shrimp appetizer so delicious. And I went with the spicy chicken wrap I think it was called jerk chicken. Also delicious. Melanie and the GM were extremely helpful and willing to work with me. She understood I had a budget I was trying to tend to and helped still create a great party.
