My review today is for the Lunch Buffet which my daughter and I enjoyed. (My grandchildren ordered their favorites off the menu.) Familiar with the food via takeout, we wanted to check out the lunch buffet which is offered from 11:30-3:00. Turns out, it was better than expected. We often like buffets when available because we can sample/enjoy a variety of dishes by trying a small amount. Go back if more is wanted. We were pleased with the selections available including Chimichangas, Beef Tortillas, chicken or beef with peppers and onions etc. When the bill came, I was surprised to see that the cost of the buffet is only $10.99. It is a good value for the food served which included lots of chicken and tender beef. There were also rice and beans on the buffet as expected. The buffet included a great VARIETY of typical Mexican toppings to customize your taco or tortilla or BOWL. Taco bowls were available on the buffet to make your own. I ordered flour tortillas for myself which only cost $1.50. The only dish we did not like was the Pork with Green Chile. I thought the Chile sauce tasted bitter and the pork was a little fatty. We ordered the guacamole app because we think it is delicious! It never disappoints. Salsa and warm chips were delivered to the table when we sat down. We sat at a large table in the center dining area near the patio. We had our choice of where to sit. A door to the patio was open and a wonderful breeze made our lunch even more pleasant. Service was outstanding -- attentive, efficient, and friendly. I left a 25% tip. There is ample parking plus several handicapped parking spaces near the entrance. We each enjoyed our lunches. I will start off by saying the service was good and comfortable booths . Complimentary chips and salsa are served and I have to say I would not have wanted to pay for that mess. The salsa ... it literally looks like bolognese sauce ! No fresh ingredients and the chips are definitely bagged and semi stale , the server accidentally came to our table with Elotes but it was for the customers in another booth but I was like ohhhh I want one. Huge mistake . The corn had hardly any mayo sauce on it and it tasted weird, almost burnt . I ordered tacos birria and they were at least edible . The birria was very good . For consistently good food and customer service I highly recommend this restaurant. Sabor Azteca is our go to anytime we are craving Mexican food. Last night my husband and I had a delightful meal with a sweet and very attentive server. It's definitely a great place to go for dinner if you are trying to beat the upstate winter blues. As soon as you enter you are welcomed by the friendly staff with music and a jovial atmosphere. Their complimentary chips and salsa are served almost immediately and so good. I literally cannot fathom how this place has 4 stars?? I decided to eat here on a Saturday night, it was dead. There might have been one other table occupied in the whole place. When we walked in they looked genuinely excited to have some customers for the evening. I should have known right there lol! Our server was very nice! I'm sure he was thankful to have our tip money at the end of a very boring shift. The food was awful, and I do very much mean AWFUL! Our plates were mostly left untouched and we were really hungry when we walked in. Our service was genuinely confused when we declined boxes to take our leftovers home. Next we asked for hot sauce and then was brought two bowls of salsa that would were so spicy it almost ruined our tongues for the rest of dinner which might have been better. Food is pretty good but the last visit left me a bit underwhelmed. It's your typical Mexican restaurant in upstate NY but with a larger, more interesting menu. Normally the execution is very good but the dish I ordered today was a bit lacking, the Bistec A La Mexicana. Beef was tough, no cilantro to speak of, and not much Serrano peppers, perhaps not even Serrano peppers? Not until I was half way done with my meal did I realized tortilla wasn't brought to me. Not a big deal but annoying. Service was reasonably attentive. Refilled waters. Also, be aware that they charge extra if you do not pay with cash. They do let you know that on the bill though so it isn't a surprise. I don't carry much cash normally so I charged it anyway as it's more convenient for me. I do remember having a better meal in the past, I think that was the Carne Asada. Will have to get that again. read more

Went here for dinner last night. My husband had beef tacos and I had the crab plate (crab taco/burrito/enchilada/rice and beans covered in queso). I wish every Mexican restaurant would offer this plate, it was delish. The only issue is that it needed a bit more spice but that's partially my fault for not asking for Tapatio. We went for lunch at about 2 pm. I had the buffet, cheap at 10.99. The two main entrees were gone, chicken poblano and pork in salsa verde. The enchiladas were good, as were the fajidas, The beans were crusted over and the queso sauce was as well, very unappatizing. What there was there was good though. My wife had ceviche which was very good. There were 4 people there. If you have a buffet, stock it and take care of it., especially since you are not busy, and are sitting around. Our waiter was good, I like El Charro much better, always authentic. The music was awful as well a Ricky Martin cover tape playing over and over. I came here because of the table side guacamole as I read in the menu prior to my visit. We were served with complimentary chips and salsa. The chips are thin, crispy, and warm. The salsa is thin, and not having much flavor. Of course as I had planned, I ordered the table side guacamole. I was disappointed that the guacamole was already prepared on the stone bowl. On top of the deception, it's mixed with I assume sour cream so I am missing the taste of fresh chunky guacamole. I ordered shrimp Vallarta with dressing on the side. The menu said it comes with cilantro dressing. My salad has a lot of big and fresh shrimp. I asked for the dressing and the server asked what dressing I would like. I asked for the cilantro dressing and he looked confused and offered me ranch or balsamic . I just said don't worry about it, I didn't need any dressing. The shrimps were perfectly cooked but not too much flavor except being salty I tried my husband's carnitas. It has weird strong artificial flavor and salty. Definitely not recommend this. Clifton Park is not that far off the beaten path from where we live. New restaurant suggests that we need to go out for a meal. Old Ruby Tuesday's has been rehabed to fit a lovely Mexican venue. They start out as most do with chips and salsa. Salsa appears to be freshly made, but could use a little more heat. With restaurants trying to keep tables clear, no hot sauce was available to spice it up. Another nice feature of this restaurant, is that they come table side to make fresh guacamole. (We opted to try another time.) Being a shrimp fan, I ordered the Camarones Al Ajillo. Just as their menu says "Delicious gmo-free shrimp cooked in our homemade garlic sauce. Served with rice and garnished with roasted red peppers." It was delish! Presentation was lovely. Also tried the flan since other reviews raved on how good it was. Yes, a great mouth feel, creamy, light. I'd go back just for the flan it was that good. That being said, the food was very good. Parking is ample. Customization through online ordering is the feature to highlight here. Many of the dishes offered give you the option of adding more or totally removing items in a dish. Want corn or flour tortillas? Just check the box for your choice or add to the comments. Can't stand cilantro but want more onions? Well, minus out the cilantro and plus the onions listed under your dish selection. Our online order was prepared exactly to our submitted request. We were offered a variety of available pickup times, including asap, and our order was bagged and waiting for us when we arrived one minute after the chosen time. The Chorizo Fundido ($6.99) was a good-sized portion for two with plenty of corn chips provided. This creamy cheese dip with beef and house-made chorizo was a bit more runny than we would have preferred. Even after it thickened slightly as it cooled, not much would adhere to the chips as you dipped them. Flavor wise, it was OK and the chips were not salty. A side order of Chiles Poblanos ($5.99) was two poblano peppers stuffed with cheese, coated, and deep-fried, and smothered with an oily, melted, cheesy topping. We enjoy poblano peppers but could not distinguish flavor-wise that these were in fact poblanos even though they looked like poblanos. Tacos de Alambre ($16.99) are three soft tortillas, we chose corn, filled with grilled chicken, chorizo, bacon, and pineapple, topped with cilantro and shredded cheese. The accompanying rice and beans were very ordinary. The tortillas might have benefited from a few more seconds on the griddle and the chicken was dry. The remainder of ingredients were a nice blend of flavors. Pollo con Mole ($15.99) was very different than what I was expecting. Mole means sauce made with chiles, and when offered with chicken it typically is a sauce made famous by its inclusion of chocolate as its sweetener. Yes, there are many variations, but I did not notice the richness, spiciness, or a bit of chocolate sweetness in this mole. So I was needless to say, disappointed. I haven't decided how to describe the cut of the chicken, you might want to look at my photo. The pieces were something akin to short strips used to make chicken fingers for kids and likely from their precooked supply used in adding to their taco dishes. The chicken bordered on being overcooked, but I definitely didn't need a knife. Again, the rice and beans were ordinary, the guacamole was just OK, and the pico de gallo was fresh and tasty. When we feel comfortable dining indoors again, I'd be interested in trying some of their Nachos. read more

The chicken and steak were both quite dry and overcooked, likely because they were reheated from a previous day. The green peppers and onions were also not fresh, nor were the tortillas. I'm a big guy and never have food left over. However this time I had no desire to finish my meal. My wife meal was likewise not fresh and somewhat bland in taste. If requested, a gentleman prepared guacamole at your table, as you liked it! My fish tacos were a bit "mushy" do to the fact that the guacamole and sour cream came on them..I'd suggest some other fresh crispy ingredients or lettuce with the sauces on the side. INCREDIBLE. Okay, so I'm going to start off by saying I don't normally (i.e. never) do Yelp reviews, but my amazing experience at Sabor Azteca required me to break my hermitage. My mother and I had lunch there today (first time trying out this new Mexican spot in Clifton Park) and it was remarkable. Atmosphere was top notch, Covid protocols were excellent (tables very spaced apart and very clean environment), and waters/delicious homemade chips and salsa were brought out immediately. Firstly, the service here was the best I have EVER received and being a formal waitress myself, I know how much effort it is to go above and beyond. If I remember correctly (I'm horrible at names) our waitress was named Bianca and she was so knowledgable, attentive, and treated us with immense kindness. I wish I could have her as our waitress every time I dined out. In addition to the lovely staff, the food was absolutely mouthwatering. I ordered the lunch fajitas and they were so fresh, perfectly seasoned, and it came with every side you could desire. My mother ordered the verde cheese enchilada and she loved it! We honestly gobbled up every last morsel. The drinks were also delectable! I highly recommend the house margarita and the piña colada - you won't be disappointed. Lastly, the flan was the BEST I've ever had (and I've tried many from California to Spain). The portion was voluptuous and the creamy melt-in-your-mouth texture and buttery caramel flavor should be envied by all other restaurants. I end with a thank you to this restaurant and it's staff for such a wonderful experience (it's hard to get these days, understandably).
