How have I neglected to review Pancho's?!?! I'm a native Californian with a love of Mexican food and high standards. Pancho's is the best Mexican I can find in New England, and yes, I've probably tried that other "great" place you're thinking of. I've tried nearly all of them, and Pancho's is better. It's the most authentic. The type of food and way its served might not fit the stereotypical New England Mexican food restaurant a lot of locals grew up with- but this is the kind of cheap, delicious Mexican fast food I grew up going to after class in high school with my friends in California. The street corn and chorizo is out of this world. I love the enchiladas. The burritos are great too. Watch out ordering the hottest hot sauce- it'll get ya. I try to go to Castle Island Brewery anytime Pancho's is there. I just wish they'd bring the chorizo with them when they go to the brewery. read more

Delicious! Had the Barbacoa Enchiladas with Green tomatillo sauce. Came with rice and beans. Huge fan of Mexican cuisine and this was some of the best I've had in the area. Small place but a great atmosphere. The people who work here were very friendly. read more

Placed an order for delivery, order was scheduled between 2:40 to 3:04 At about 3:40 started to wonder were my food was. Called the restaurant, explained the situation to asked if delivery was on the way. The guy on the other end said how should I know . Thought maybe I dialed the wrong number. I ordered two tacos and a carne asada burrito. The tacos were bursting with flavor and portioned perfectly. Would highly recommend. The burrito on the other hand was opposite. Not a lot of flavor, barely any meat, and small. Also asked for pinto beans and got black beans. I was pretty disappointed in the burrito. Took a walk downtown today with the wife. We've lived here forever and never do that. We came across this little place and decided sure why not. The staff was friendly and the burrito was ok. The fish on the salad was small and boiled but not bad. The chips where definitely store bought. It was lunch on a Friday and had a few after school kids as customers. So I should have taken note. All in all not bad. But I do have a comment. As a vendor you really should leave politics at the door. After we ordered and sat down I noticed the attached sign in the window. My wife, who is Chinese, was offended. She stated that had she seen this on the way in we would have left. Now, everyone has a right to believe what they want. This place is awesome. You get what you pay for and the servings are exceptional. The taste is top quality and the very authentic. I got the fish tacos and nachos al pastor , and they were both excellent. I like that they also have a bar. You can order a margarita with your food, or a beer and take it to the table. You don't have to worry about a waitress or waiter. You can seat yourself, enjoy and leave. read more

This is not good Mexican food. I know it's supposed to be fast food, but I honestly would prefer Taco Bell. I really did want to love it. Everything is meh and very small portions. The burrito was subpar and very flavorless. I tried the panchos torta and man that was disappointing! It was 90% bread. They do have good guacamole though. I feel bad, but I went to Pancho's thinking it would be a delightful, low-cost meal like the kind I would get on the streets of Mexico when I lived there. NOT SO. The cheese on the nachos was like they were from a 7-11 or multiplex. The tacos were not flavorful, and the vegetables in the vegetable quesadilla looked wilted and sad. My daughter -- who is quite an adventurous eater -- wouldn't take more than two bites. We bought the most expensive margaritas with Patron, and I think they either put in way less than called for or literally left the tequila out. I mean, it was yummy, but it didn't have any tequila taste, and I'm a very rare drinker and felt no effect. I'm such a lightweight, I won't drive after one glass wine with dinner, and I told my husband I could drive if he wanted. Mexican subway is right. I wish it weren't so. Dinner was great. We dropped in for our first visit after my daughter's swim meet down the road. Despite being the last customers of the night we had a great dinner of burritos, enchiladas, Dos Equis and margaritas. The girls loved the burritos so they tried eating the dads who were slowly eating their's. Loved the enchiladas and we walked out feeling satisfied. I just moved to the Boston area from Los Angeles and I've had a hard time finding Mexican food that isn't bland. Most of it hasn't been up to my standards. It's like New Englanders are afraid of a little spice. Pancho's Taqueria is a diamond in the rough as far as great Mexican food in New England goes. Their food is has spice and lots of flavor, and reasonably priced. Their margaritas and on tap beer selection is great too. The restaurant is counter service so they don't wait on you at the table, but the staff are super friendly and will make the food to your liking. read more

Stopped in for a quick bite to eat. I did not like how Guac, sour cream etc were extra. They really need to change the menu in pricing to reflect what it really costs. For example the fish tacos were $4 the an extra .50 cents (for example) and same with the carne asarda tacos - and extra .90 just list the actual price! $8 for 2 tacos and no sides is pretty expensive. I placed an online order thinking it would be easy to just walk in and pickup my food. So when I went in, I told the employee my name and that I had an online order. He gave me a bag and I walked out. Turns out he gave me the wrong order. Luckily I checked. I went back in and gave him back the food. I told him items were missing from my order and he tells me he gave me the wrong order and mine wasn't even made yet. He rushed to complete my order and still got it wrong. I just moved to the area and I'm in search of new places, I was in the mood for real mexican food, so i gave a try to this place, I stayed in front waiting for the only guy working to take my order, but he was busy cooking the food for a family, when finally he took the order he said it will take longer, but good things are worth the wait, oh ! The first thing to arrive was a pastor taco, the thing was cold and the meat was between dry and greasy sauce, nothing similar to pastor flavor, I couldn't figure out if it was beef or pork, well the main dish arrived, chilaquiles verdes, well more like nachos splashed with some green salsa without flavor, gooey salty cheese, rubbery egg (not sunny side up as order) fried beans on top not like a side, and a dust called ground cheese, I truly tried to eat at least half of it, but it was impossible. Great deception, everyone around me were enjoying burritos and margaritas, so I think that's it, this place is out of my list. read more

The much anticipated opening of ponchos in Dedham square is finally over, and I'm glad to say it was worth the wait! Good food, great prices, and an inviting space make this a great addition that is going to help further diversify the square. I tried the fish tacos for my first meal here and wasn't disappointed! I recognize that no one's perfect but I'm very happy to see that the owner really cares and wants to make things right. I am glad because the food did taste very good, Will definitely be coming back :). Open containers leaking, missing items, chicken in a veggie quesadilla (person who ordered is a vegetarian), a burrito was made as a quesadilla, and not one of our burritos or quesadilla was made correctly. This place is really gross! Bland soggy food. The burrito fell apart as it was mainly lettuce and sauce. Would not eat here or serve to my dog. Furthermore, letting the staff's wild kids run around like it's a playground when people are trying to eat speaks volumes as to your business practice.
