Ever since I read the newspaper story about Panda Express coming to Canton Township, myself and my coworkers have been geeked about this place. I finally decided to visit this fast food restaurant today, and I ordered a "String Bean Chicken Breast." bowl for lunch. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement of the decade. The chicken and vegetables weren't bad, but how can you screw-up the rice so badly? I mean this is Asian (fast) food after all? This really was a mood killer if I ever had one. The rice was undercooked, crunchy, and tasteless. All the soy sauce and tea in China wouldn't make this taste any better. I don't how it's possible, but this was far worse than Uncle Ben's or Minute Rice. If you're looking for something better, then by all means visit some of the other Chinese restaurants in area. At the worst, they know how to dish-up Americanized Chinese food, and the rice is properly cooked. It's going to be a while before I order from this restaurant again.

I've been looking forward to the opening of this location since it's about 2 miles from our house. Of course, the coupons we received in the mail were a definite bonus. So on the first visit, hubby and I ordered bowls with our BOGO coupon. The bowls include your choice of side (the base) - rice, fried rice, chow main or veggies topped with an entree. I choose fried rice with Mushroom chicken and hubby choice veggies with Kung Pao Chicken. I originally was going to get Black Pepper Angus Steak, but didn't feel like paying the upcharge. I thought my bowl had too much rice. I wish I would have gotten 1/2 rice and 1/2 veggies (1/2 and 1/2 is an option). The mushroom chicken was good but needed some spice. The Kung Pao Chicken had a lot more flavor but it was also very spicy! Although the bowls are a neat idea, they wouldn't be my first choice and I thought they were pricey for the amount of food. Our service was good. In fact, we were given a very warm welcome when we entered. The girl who took our order also told us about the upcharge and that the Kung Pao was their spiciest dish. I like that she took the time to tell us both. We will eat here again but not sure if we will eat inside or get carryout. Although we enjoyed the atmosphere, but we could easily take our food home. We already have a plan for our next visit. We are going to share a Bigger Plate with 3 entrees and 1 side so that we can try a few entrees. After that visit, I'll update my review.

My coworkers and I ordered online from here today during lunch. Food tasted decent. I ordered a plate with half fried rice, half chow mein. Unfortunately, the fried rice didn't make it to my plate.

All my food was fresh. And everyone was nice and friendly. It was rather calm on this rainy night.

This is it what I received.

I motioned my wife to enter as she has a hard time with stairs and was willing to wait until 10 AM, but came at my bidding. My wife order the Carne Asada fries and a fountain Coke. She love the fries. I ordered a double cheeseburger slider with bacon ( about $5 ) with grilled onions as standard. The bacon was PERFECT!! Chewy, but fully done; no white fat but opaque fully cooked! Awesome burger. 9 out of 10. I also ordered a raspberry shake. It was good ( 6 out of 10 ) and shared it with my wife. Maybe I am spoiled by super sweet chocolate shakes from White Castle. A pricey over $6. Perhaps skip this one or try a malt. I also ordered Chili Cheese Fries. Bless her heart, Ray cooked mine to perfection, well done fries, melted real sliced American cheese, and she put my chili in a side bowl as requested so I could dip the cheese covered ones on the chili ( I stirred in their hot sauce) and the few uncovered fries, dipped into my raspberry shake. Amazingly delicious. 10 out of 10 for each item: crinkle cut fries, coney beef chili ( NO BEANS!!! ) , and great cheese. Chili should NEVER HAVE BEANS!!! Finally I split a deep fried churro un-filled with cinnamon sugar. 7 out of 10. We took most of that home and I ate some during this review. One silly tiny note. The one unisex bathroom ( the restaurant only has 21 stool seats ) had only one working light bulb in the fixture out of 2 or 3. It was very dim like a seedy bar. I told Ray so hopefully it gets fixed soon. If that last bulb goes in there, I hope whoever is in there has their cellphone flashlight working. Finally the overall vibe is stainless steel lunch counter ( 1950's? ) with a deep kitchen. Seven short stools facing the street, Nine facing the kitchen and a very small tall table with Five matching tall stools. That lone table could be crowded with two customers food, but five? Better only have a beverage and one item, and that would be elbow to elbow. Shout out to Detroit Food Review for his October 3, 2025 review for here. That is how we found it. They do have a drive through if you do not want to climb the three stairs or use the ramp or if the restaurant is full inside.

We were taking our granddaughter from out of state so we could all experience it for the first time together as she had this on her "must try" list. We got 2 box combo's. Chicken was super moist, fries on point and 2 of us liked the sauce. My fiancé does not do pepper well, so she had to eat the strips plain. They do not have seasoning on them at all, so she was a tad bummed. Really wish they would offer ranch at the least. Overall it was good for my granddaughter and myself as we enjoyed the sauce. 4 stars for food, but Sanara got the 5th star with her smile and attitude.

Several weeks later, when the crowds died down, I popped in for dinner. The small parking lot was nearly full; I snagged the last spot. Maybe this is more of a to-go place? The menu is very limited. Essentially, there are various combinations of (3, 4, and 6) chicken fingers with fries and sides. There is also a chicken sandwich. I ordered the Box Combo, which includes four chicken fingers, sauce, fries, coleslaw, Texas toast, and a beverage, but I was worried I would still be hungry. The staffer reassured me that it would be more than enough. And she was right. The sizable chicken fingers were juicy and tender with a tasty, crunchy coating. The crinkle-cut fries were a-okay, as was the coleslaw. However, I did not care for the sauce, expecting it to be a bit sweeter, like J. Alexander's, nor did I care for the toast. The team staffing the restaurant was top-notch. They stayed on top of cleaning up the restaurant and replacing the garbage cans while remaining friendly and pleasant to customers.

Culver's is the next level fast food experience you will love. Since I was pressed for time, I decided to do a pickup curbside order rather than going inside. Thankfully, using their app is a very straightforward process, and my order was delivered to my car on time. Likewise, the person who brought it to my car was very polite and made sure my order was correct. I played it safe and ordered a Deluxe Burger, with Swiss cheese, lettuce, and a slice of tomato. First off, I need to tell you back in the early 1980s. I was a manager at a Long John Silver's. So I shouldn't have to say I knew all about deep fried fish. The filets of walleye we're quite large. Sadly they were mushy and greasy. I put one of the pieces and a couple napkins.By the time I got to it the napkins were drenched in grease. The French fries we're overdone and the coalslaw had way to much dressing, the bun was stale. It was a waste of $21.

They have some chicken that's already fried under heat lamps, but you can also ask them to fry you new pieces. I got the three piece (two wings and a breast) plus biscuit for $7.99. The wings and breast tasted the same even though the breast was under the heat lamp and the wings were freshly fried. It was extra crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside and very well seasoned. The staff at the food counter are really nice people and unless you want a pizza, the wait is minimal. You can buy one piece of chicken, or combos, plus they have wonderful looking pizza. And prolly much more. I selected "Ambiance" because the counter and business area are never dirty, the employees are polite, friendly and if it was a "stand alone" establishment, it would reflect the owners's vision. Gas prices are decent, also!!
