I have eaten at many different take out Chinese places over the years. I decided to get shrimp lo mein from their lunch menu. It did say that it comes with fried rice and an egg roll but other places have said that but you don't with a noodle dishes. When I opened the Styrofoam container I found half of it. Less than half is noodles with less than the normal shrimp. Not even average compared to the others I have eaten. The egg roll was nothing to write home about. I have no clue why all the higher star reviews except they haven't eaten at some of the wonderful places I have. I will not be back. read more

Once again I find myself trying a new Chinese takeout place. This time I was in Livonia, grabbing lunch while waiting for my wife's car to finish getting serviced nearby. My go to is General Tso's Chicken, which came with fried rice and a spring roll. I was fortunate enough to come during their lunch special hours, so it was under $10. Most places that have a similar offer give you a ton of rice to create the illusion you're getting a good deal, but I was more than happy with the quantity here even though it wasn't filled to the brim as the rice was delicious. So far this is the only place I found that tastes like Chinese and not a place that takes store bought noodles off the shelf and drenches it oil. The pork is made difference, and never consistent. This is one of my favorite neighborhood restaurants and my go to Chinese spot. The food is consistently good and the staff is friendly :) They have a ton of vegetarian options which is not the case for other Chinese restaurants in the area. I often get the family style tofu dinner with fried rice and a spring roll. The spring rolls are much better than other restaurants I've tried and also vegetarian. My partner is always happy with the chicken dishes and pad Thai he orders. Also the leftovers reheat really well when I take them to work.. This is a busy spot and something I appreciate is that it's always hot by the time I get back home. I drive across town 15 minutes bc the food is so good. On occasion it's so busy that I have to wait a few minutes for pick up but I would much rather the food be fresh from the kitchen than sitting in a shelf waiting to be picked up. Whenever I'm in this area, there seems to be a gravitational pull to Buddy's Pizza and consequently, I never noticed this restaurant. During the pandemic, this place converted to an all-take-out operation, its vestibule blocked and a tiny pass-through created for food/money exchange. Based on reviews, I placed an order for General Tso's chicken, almond chicken, and tofu and vegetables. The food was completed by the time I arrived (20 mins) and it was still hot when I returned home. I was disappointed by the General Tso's chicken; the chicken pieces were overcooked so tougher than I would have liked. I did like the spicier flavors, although nothing compares to my dad's version. In contrast, the almond chicken pieces were crispy and tender. The almond-flavored sauce was bland though so I ate it without (which is fine because this means fewer calories and carbs). I wished I had ordered the sweet and sour, though. The tofu with vegetables was terrific; I loved the variety of crunchy vegetables. I hate to leave a poor review for a small business, but this place seems to have slipped a bit under the new ownership. I ordered a Kung Pao Chicken and Hunan Beef and neither of them bore any resemblance to traditional preparation. Sorry to say, but the food was just meh. When trying a new place I always order the Pepper Steak, kinda make or break it for the new place. I was not impressed. The steak was tough and chewy, the onions and peppers were nice and crunchy but the sauce was flavorless. The spring roll looked great on the outside but so greasy on the inside and had a plastic taste. Fried rice was just a yellowish brown rice with chunks of chicken- not much flavor or any other goodies like egg, peas, carrots which tend to be common in many Asian restaurants All in all disappointed with this place- no flavor, greasy, tough and there were some kind of clear gelatinous globs in our meals...yuck. read more

I am a fan of this place. Cheap and tasty luncheons. You can't complain much about that. I will say I am rather one note here. I generally get what I think is hands down the best dish, the general tso chicken lunch combo. I get it extra spicy, which I definitely recommend. You can add meat to the fried rice but it is totally not necessary. I only did it once. The egg roll can be greasy but nothing else is. I especially like the less soyed up super fresh fried rice. The meal is plenty filling, you can even share it if you are not a huge eater or if you get some happy crab Rangoon to share too. The crab Rangoon is hearty and happy. Just don't try to add shrimp toast, they are always out of it, much to my coworkers distress. I've gotten it delivered and done pick up and both are on time and piping hot. Never any errors either. I have tried this place twice now and the food has been delicious. Good portion sizes. Great taste. Good value. I have ordered the chicken chop Suey, crab Rangoon, almond boneless chicken, fried rice, Eggrolls and wonton soup. It's all been very good. For takeout I especially like that they use strong plastic containers with tight fitting lids for the main items which means they will travel well without leaking. The rice is packaged up in traditional white takeout cartons. It may seem like a little thing but I have had bad experiences with other places where the food leaked in my car. That's not the case here. I have never eaten inside because of Covid. But I will definitely come back for more takeout. read more

The quality of the ingredients and cooking was good, but it was fairly bland, though I requested medium. Crab rangoons (replacing shumai which was not available) were good and travelled well, which is not always the case. I love little "hole in the wall" places that totally bring their A game and shame even the big boys. This place has some of the best Asian food I've had anywhere and it doesn't dent your wallet.
