This place has been here forever and has stood the test of time. It is definitely one of those old school Chinese restaurants that is known for their almond chicken. The food is always served on time with good service. I have never eaten inside to me it's just one of those places you do carry out for. The ambiance is that familiar old fashioned Chinese restaurants where I have always used for carry out. If you're into that style definitely try eating inside. read more

Last week we ordered food from Ten Yen in Westland Mi. The Vegetable Fried Rice made all of us sick. My Sister got the worst of it with throwing up and Diarrhea. Don't know what was wrong with the food but it was terrible. They used to have very good Vegetable Fried Rice. Not gonna go there again!!! I Would put a zero rating if I could. read more

Ten Yen is a Staple in the area! It's been at it's location, for as long as I can remember. Food quality & quantities are pretty much, always 5 stars. They lose 1 star for cleanliness of the main entry area though. And not having the dining area open for sit down seating, ever since the plannedemic (C-19), happened. They have been strictly carry-out only, for too many years now. I miss going in there, to sit down and actually enjoy their amazing meals, freshly made, right out of the kitchen. They always had an excellent waitstaff there, in the past, too. But... the Food is always on-point and very consistent on taste, quality, & quantity... so that keeps me going back there, receiving my meals in a white foam clamshell carry-out container, all tied-up in a plastic shopping bag. read more

We tried this place out of frustration with our longstanding Chinese go-to which had really slipped in quality over the years and gone up in price. What a pleasant surprise!! Outstanding taste, large portions, and extremely reasonable prices. The egg rolls and beef lo mein were especially good. When I'm looking for a quick cheap Chinese food. This place hit most the marks. There generals chicken was very good but a little sweeter then I'm used to. There steak kow, was absolutely delicious no complaint there. The crab rangoons amazing! However, there egg rolls tasted freezer burnt. There wonton soup broth was very salty. And there hot and sour tasted watered down almost flavorless and only had 1 piece of shrimp. All in all thoe better then most places in the area. Also a 30 to 40 minute wait if there busy. read more

Good service from the staff. I enjoyed the multiple dinner combinations available. I went with the general chicken dinner combo which was enough for two people. The food was hot and flavorful. Great shrimp and Lobster sauce!!! So hard to find a restaurant that makes it good. Like I used to buy back in the 80's....real chunks of minced pork. The owner is a really cool dude and a big comic in movie fan which is an obvious plus for me anyway. read more

I think I just found my favorite Chinese restaurant in the area! I ordered carryout, easy ordering over the phone. The almond boneless chicken was amazing, loved the green onion on top, huge portions and the breading was perfectly crispy. The crab rangoons were great, lots of filling and yummy! Wonton soup was really good as well, lots of dumplings and good flavor. Really enjoyed my dinner here, can't wait to go back! read more

We have been customerz over 20 years. Havent gone a lot since Pandemic though. Yesterday was first time ever ordering their lo mein. I didn't want rice with Chow Scalloos. First time trying it too. Never knew lo mein would be packed too tight to pull out!.... It was also dry and tasteless. Sadly I convince husband to also try it to with his almond chicken. It was a lo mean nightmare...one container would have been enough for both of us....couldn't get much to unglue.. and very tasteless and inedible.6.00 each for lo mein versus included rice. 12.00 extra dollars wasted! Veggies in "Chow Scallops" were old and wilted. I called the store.. useless effort. Others have said lo mein should be loose like spaghetti noodles..not packed in very tight. Had beat reviews in the area while we were around there, So we stopped in. It was well populated, so i thought it was promising. Service was fast, and nice. The place looked clean enough going in to pick it up. They sell dinner rolls, tea and Almond Cookies at the counter. We got Lemon chicken and Almond Chicken. Chicken was good, on both, good batter, good cut on the chicken, good fry. But the sauces were both lackluster. The "lemon" sauce was sweet and sour sauce with some lemon squeezed it and the almond chicken gravy was yellow and not the best flavored. The rice was basic soy sauce fried rice, not the best, not the worst. The Hot and Sour soup was okay- nothing to write home about. Oh, except there was whole shrimp in it. I dont remember having shrimp in any Hot and Sour Soup. The dinner rolls were ok-dense, and a little firm. . All in all, I would MAYBE go back if i was in the area. I was visiting a sick relative with ALS in January. As a surprise, I wanted to buy dinner at his favorite place. He was craving Chinese food so "Ten Yen" was the delicious choice. It was easy and helpful to look over the carry out menu they already had at home. Photos of menu are attached. It was easy to place our order over the phone with William who spoke English well. :-) (humor: yes at times they talk fast) He was kind enough to repeat my carry out order back to Me so, a careful efficent guy! It was also nice to meet him in person at his family business and owner when picking up our food. Photos attached. Since we won't be able to sit down in this place due to his sad illness, I took photos of the inside to post as well. "Helper Yelper= Karen!" There were guests eating in the dining room area as well. Your welcome. The prices are affordable and the portion sizes were huge so different leftovers to enjoy for the next day. Oh yeah with a smile :-). Meals delicious: Crispy chicken, perfectly cooked shrimp, tender beef, white and fried rice in large containers, plus three tasty sauces put in separate containers. The soups were delicious and definitely homemade with crunchy noodles! My favorite was the egg drop plus I tried a small sample of the wonton soup. An Egg roll was included in each combo meal. All the food items were packaged tightly in containers then bagged up and easy to travel back unspilled in a cardboard box. The owner William was very pleasant upon my walking in, paying cash, and thanked Me for coming in and to enjoy my meals while leaving. He also mentioned "I gave you extra fortune cookies".... Humor or I need some good luck?! :-) I would highly recommend this Chinese restaurant when in Westland or Plymouth, Michigan located on Wayne Rd. You can miss it because its in a mini strip mall. Service was quick, maybe that's the problem.. I'm still in search for a good Chinese restaurant or just good Chinese take out. Went here on Sunday because of the reviews, I don't get it.. the food was horrible. My husband got the sweet-and-sour chicken, which he said was okay, he said his fried rice was dry. I got the chicken lo mein, the lo mein noodles were not lo mein noodles. They were angel hair pasta, and they gave me about a 1/2 pound of it. The vegetables ( very little ) hardly any vegetables and the chicken was dry and scarce. Worst Chinese I've ever had. I had the fried dumplings, which were not pan fried, they were deep fried :( This crap was $ 45. I won't be back! read more

It took us over 15 years of driving by Ten Yen to finally try them, and now I'm pissed I wasted that time away from their delicious Chinese-American dishes! If I'm craving some authentic Szechuan food, I'll go elsewhere. But if I want a killer bean sprout egg roll...or crispy, spicy General's chicken (order it crispy)...or great Almond Chicken...or tasty Shrimp Egg Foo Young, I'm heading to Ten Yen. Large portions. Large interior. Friendly, efficient service. Serious take out business! Parking lot is shared with the strip mall but more than sufficient. They seem to always be open, which I very much appreciate.
