2nd week in a row to wait an extended amount of time to get our food when ordered in. They wont give us the ready food, rather let it just sit getting cold. Yep let 5 items sit there while waiting for 1 or 2 things. Last week they gave our party of 2 people, 1 soft drink as we had to wait. Yesterday the wait was a legitimate 14 minutes from when I paid to when we got our food. Then another bit as I ask for a tray (her to go in back to get 1, and clean it), then ask for the sauces, a plate, fork, chopsticks, 2 water cups, 2 straws, ask for 2 straws again... To have mostly cold food and 1 hot item... If I wanted cold food I would order it for delivery. While waiting they made more of the new spicy chicken that was no where near out. Then a company meeting it seems before making super greens and broccoli beef. My expectations are not high for a fast food place, but at least give me what is ready when I pay. At least ask me what I prefer... Standing and waiting 14 minutes is a bit excessive. Been here weekly for over a year and I think it is time to find another place. read more

As a paying customer already on-site, it was disappointing to be denied a basic item like a bag especially when it was clear that others would be accommodated later. It felt dismissive and unfair. If bags are in short supply, the priority should be serving the customers who are already supporting your business in that moment not hypothetical future orders. After a long and exhausting day, I just wanted something quick and easy on my way home. I decided to stop by Panda Express at the Otay Ranch Mall. I'm a big fan of Chinese food, and I realized it had been about a year and a half since I last had Panda Express. The location itself looked nice and clean, and I appreciated that the manager helped me directly--he was friendly and professional. The place was pretty busy, which makes sense since it's located right next to a major bus station. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to expectations. Now I remember why it's been so long since my last visit. The rice and chow mein were dry, the shrimp was soggy, and the egg rolls were mushy--not the fresh and flavorful experience I was hoping for. It left me feeling disappointed. What really stood out was the price: I paid around $13-14 for a combo plate with chow mein, fried rice, shrimp, vegetables, two egg rolls, and a bottled soda. Honestly, I was surprised it was that cheap. I'd be willing to pay a few dollars more if it meant getting better quality food. Sometimes, keeping prices low can come at the expense of taste and freshness--and I think that might be the case here. I came in today at 3pm and did the same thing however for some reason instead of immediately packing my protein choices (broccoli beef/honey sesame chicken) they put it to the side and pass it to the next employee. As I'm waiting I see a person 2 people behind me order the honey sesame chicken and they start packing his up immediately and proceed to grab the last of the batch. As I'm walking over to the register they ask me if I want to wait for the new batch and I obviously ask how long it would take to make and they say "3 minutes." And I say that's fine I don't mind if it's 3 minutes and so I pay for it and sit and wait for the honey sesame chicken to be ready. I proceed to wait nearly 15min and I'm not happy. If they told me how long it would actually take I would've grabbed a different protein and made it easier for everyone but they not only served the last of the chicken to someone behind me but also weren't upfront with how long it would've actually taken to make the next batch. I would blame all the front of house employee's but I gotta ask the question as too who is training them; if it is the manager I'd beg the question if they are fit to train them because it was the entire front of house making mistakes they shouldn't be making these types of mistakes. (coming from a person that also works in the same industry as them.) I had ordered a bowl at the Otay Ranch location in Chula Vista. They had packed the plastics bowl with white rice (looks like 2 cups) and 5 pieces of broccoli and 2 pieces of beef. When I told the lady that's it, it she put more beef. She told me she added more. I said I see that, but it's not right that they do that to all customers who order a bowl. They fill it with the rice, and only give you a little bit of the entree. So if I didn't say something, I would have paid $9 for 2 cups of rice , 5 pieces of broccoli and 2 pieces of meat. I noticed that every time I get the family meal from this specific branch, they only fill up the boxes half way. When I go to the one by Main Street, they fill it up all the way. Price is the same but the portions are way better at the Main Street branch. I've gone to the Otay branch more than twice already hoping that it's the employee. It's not. Have had ok visits when coming to here. The last one was for their catering order options so this review will be based off of that. My son had a party and being that it was Easter Sunday the places he wanted food from were closed. Panda Express came to the rescue! We ordered the smaller catering option, all the food was just as tasteful as it usually is. They came in these two beautifully decorated boxes and inside it housed the individual Chinese take out boxes. Everything was packed so perfectly and made it super easy to carry out. They provided plates and utensils and all kinds of different sauces for dipping and to use over the food. All of my son's guests were so stoked to have Panda Express for their party food. There were still plenty of left overs even with teens eating and some unexpected guests I had over that day. This Panda Express is in the corner across from Buffalo Wild Wings and connect to the same building as Jersey Mikes. Once walking in the delicious smell of the food hits you. I was quickly greeted by the employees and walking up to the line makes your mouth water from all the options to choose from, not to mention you can taste test various options as well. I usually order the same, Half and Half (which is half lo mien and half fried rice) Orange Chicken and Walnut Shrimp, with a side of 3 Cream Cheese Wantons. It never disappoints and it definitely fills you up for the price. So if you are in the mood for quick and delicious Chinese food than this is the place for you! read more

Love Panda however this location was straight up terrible. I asked for a plate with half rice half noodles. Jaziel told me verbatim " there's no more rice for the day " and I said ok it's fine I'll get full noodles. Then when asking for my sides I had mentioned I had a birthday coupon for a free entree and asked for the entree to be honey walnut shrimp. She explained I couldn't use it because it would charge me anyways. So I said that's fine and continued to wait. I told her I'll get a plate still and to charge me the up charge for the shrimp. She proceeded to pass my plate down to I'm assuming get served by the other one employee and I guess she wouldn't be found so she ended up giving me beef and broccoli and orange chicken how I had asked when the other girl came back to her station I'm not sure what was wait but Jaziel slammed the tongs into the bowl and stormed away. Weirdo very weird behavior. But ok. Anyways, I go to pay and the employee there was super nice and sweet. As I'm paying I see a man bring in a brand new bowl of rice.... I'm not the type at all to complain about petty things when it comes to dining, but I left today really bothered about the way I was treated when coming in to pickup my mobile order. I was especially surprised because the MANAGER was the one being rude to me for absolutely no reason and it seemed like she was accusing me of lying when I simply came in late to pick up my mobile order. So quick backstory, I ordered online through their mobile app at around 11:00 and I got the confirmation that the order was ready at 11:15. Something came up and I got there around 12:20ish to pick up my order. I pick up my orders from restaurants late often and it's never been an issue. I also work in the restaurant industry and customers also pick up their orders late often and again, is never an issue. I got there and they told me that a man picked up my order already at 11 and the man showed them my confirmation number apparently and they gave it to him. I don't understand at all how that's possible especially because I didn't order through any 3rd party food pickup service like doordash, etc. I showed the manager (Estephanie) literal proof of my order confirmation and even showed her the text I got when it was ready. She still was acting like there was nothing else she could do until she finally was like "Ok, this time I'll do this for you" ??? with a dirty look on her face. I was baffled as to why she was making it seem like I was being dishonest when I simply just got there and picked up my order late. It makes no sense how some other person happened to have my confirmation number because I didn't share it with anyone else, and have no idea how that would've even occurred since I paid ahead of time already. I feel like the employee gave my original order away by accident (accidents happen all the time) and was afraid to admit it. This whole situation just made no sense to me and after this experience I would rather not go to this location or spend my money here anymore. Especially after the way the manager Estephanie was treating me when it was not my fault that they gave my mobile order away. I've eaten here 7-8 times over the last year. It's a great concept. Inexpensive freshly made Chinese food available quickly. Unfortunately, the food ranges from poor to average, though it looks great. Tonight all the employees seemed new. I'm sure there must have been a few holdovers, but I couldn't spot them. The fried rice looks good, but it's terrible. Bland and tasteless. You'd think somebody with tastebuds might actually work there and occasionally sample the food, but apparently not. Tonight I noticed something new. The servers all seemed to be trying to portion out slightly smaller servings. That is most definitely not the ticket to increased profits. This location should shoot for more customers each day rather than shaving a few cents of the cost of each serving. Also, they do something at the register that infuriates me - they ask you to donate your change to a charity. They don't say a thing about what they will be donating, if anything. When this happens to you, if you decide to patronize this particular Panda, try asking them if they would like to donate $5 to you because you have had COVID, the flu, a broken arm, cancer, gout, etc. See the puzzled look come across the cashier's face. Perhaps you'll notice their realization that begging for their customers' change is tacky. A better choice for Chinese food is available on Birch Road on the other side of Eastgate next to Denny's. Much better food served to you by professional waiters for modest prices. That's where I'm going.
